Chapter 8 - 008 Why

```
The next morning at seven, Chen Xu woke up on time as usual. Over the past month, he had developed a biological clock.
There was some unusual noise outside the window, and without guessing, he knew it was definitely the new move-in, Luo Xiyun, making it.
Upon waking up, his temper had calmed down a lot.
Actually, from another perspective, standing in Luo Xiyun's shoes, it was quite normal to have a strong defensive mindset when living with a man who was virtually a stranger. This was also a form of self-protection.
It meant she didn't consider other people's feelings when she spoke.
Of course, for someone like her, why bother considering other people's feelings on a regular basis?
However, understanding didn't mean accepting. He still felt somewhat displeased in his heart.
If he had known from the start that this "virtual dream" could be so real, from appearance to personality being exactly the same, he would never have chosen a woman like Luo Xiyun to accompany him.
In the company, Luo Xiyun was always a topic of conversation.
There were quite a few discussions about her in private, with the most talked-about being her sharp tongue, sparing no one's feelings. As a result, she had offended quite a few people.
There was a rumor that once, she almost embarrassed the company boss in public. In the end, the boss didn't do much to her, but her reputation spread thoroughly.
He now had experienced it for himself.
To be honest, there was a moment last night when he really felt an urge.
However, it was just a thought; he couldn't actually do such a thing.
Although he often told himself that this was just a dream, the longer he stayed here, the less he could completely treat it all as just a dream.
At most, avoiding it would be for the best.
This was what he thought and planned to do.
After breakfast, he took the schedule and went to find Luo Xiyun. She lived next door, which was originally a coffee shop. He had tidied it up, placing some household items there. After clearing it out yesterday, it was given to her to live in.
He was just about to knock on the door when he noticed a new intercom-style doorbell installed. Apparently, it was installed specifically for him. The intention was obvious, hinting at not entering without permission.
"So she spent the entire morning putting this up?"
Thinking this, he pressed the doorbell.
"Come in." A distorted voice came from the intercom.
Chen Xu opened the door and walked in.
As soon as he entered, he found the floor wet, with things inside having been reorganized, and the tables and chairs neatly arranged.
Going further in was an office, now serving as her bedroom.
The bedroom door was open, and she was bent over, wiping a table with a towel.
Chen Xu felt a bit puzzled, "Didn't you just clean it yesterday?"
Odd as it was, he didn't ask anything and said, "Let's talk about the division of tasks."
Luo Xiyun folded the towel neatly, put it aside, and said, "Let's talk outside."
They went outside and found a table to sit at.
Chen Xu had just taken out the schedule when he saw her take out a wet wipe and meticulously clean her hands, making him realize, "So she's a neat freak." He thought that her month must have been quite tough.
Of course, this had nothing to do with him. Now, he just wanted to finish the discussion quickly and leave.
"This is the list of daily tasks I've put together. I've made a general plan, which is this. Look it over, and if there are no issues, we can discuss it further."
His plan was simple; heavy labor went to Chen Xu, and tasks like laundry, cleaning, and organizing went to Luo Xiyun.
Luo Xiyun took the notebook and quickly glanced through it. Soon, she asked, "What does the cleaning cover?"
"Just the public areas," Chen Xu said. "Where I live, including the first floor, you don't need to plan for. I will take care of it myself."
Luo Xiyun nodded, acknowledging this point. She continued looking down and soon posed several questions, which Chen Xu answered one by one.
Finally, Luo Xiyun finished reading through the entire list and placed it on the table.
Chen Xu felt a sense of relief and said, "If there's no problem, our job distribution plan will be temporarily set. If there are any issues later on, we can discuss them together."
After he finished speaking and was about to leave, Luo Xiyun said, "There's one more thing."
He had no choice but to sit back down. "Go ahead."
"I don't seem to see cooking and doing the dishes on the list." Luo Xiyun raised her question. "How do you plan to arrange this?"
"You mean that."
Chen Xu said, "After considering it, I think it's best for each of us to handle our own."
Luo Xiyun looked at him, and after a while, she asked, "Why?"
Why?
Did that even need asking?
Chen Xu straightforwardly said, "That way, you don't have to force yourself to face me, and I don't have to awkwardly face you."
Luo Xiyun stared at him intently, with a hint of disdain in her eyes, and said, "Are you mad because of what I said yesterday? As a man, can't you have a bit of gentlemanly conduct?"
A silence fell.
"Why should I?"
After a while, Chen Xu spoke again, his voice small and slightly mocking. "Just because I'm a man, and you're a woman, so you can disregard my feelings and say things that hurt my self-esteem. And even if I'm upset, I can't show it?"
"Just because you're a woman, your family has money, you're beautiful, and your position is higher than mine, I have to always accommodate your mood and make myself uncomfortable to please you?"
"If that's what gentlemanly conduct means, then I'd like to say—"
Chen Xu said each word distinctly, "To hell with gentlemanly conduct."
"You—" Luo Xiyun's face turned a bit red, not knowing if it was from anger or anxiety.
Chen Xu had already gone this far, so he decided to speak his mind completely, "Of course, I may not have the 'gentlemanly conduct' you mentioned, but I still have basic principles of being human. Since you look down on me, you don't need to worry about me doing anything to you."
"However, I'm a twenty-six-year-old man, and I'm perfectly normal inside and out. So not seeing each other is good for both you and me."
After saying this, Chen Xu felt thoroughly relieved. He had long needed to vent some things, but in reality, despite any displeasure in his heart, he often had to hold it in.
Now, in his dream world, naturally, he could say whatever he wanted without having to consider other consequences.
Whether Luo Xiyun would leave because of his words didn't matter anymore. Leave if you want or stay if you wish.
A month had passed, and with five more months left, it wasn't an issue. At this point, having peace of mind was more important.
Chen Xu didn't look at Luo Xiyun's unpleasant expression and turned to leave.
