The planet was barren and storms constantly raged in the skies. Some of the golems were lost in the seas or by misadventures. Although safe for now it began to fashion many backup plans. Also the yen for life remained, golems were not alive and not satisfactory. It needed someone to love and care for.
This planet was so young and violent and the elements of life were far too primitive key pieces would prevent life such as it knew from ever blooming here. Cyanide and corrosive oxygen, carbon dioxide, greenhouse gases. These all were barriers to life. A violent vulcanology and meteorology also interfered.
Proto life, the existence of primitive genetic codes. Maybe it could experiment, and form something useful. First on the agenda the cyanide must go. Examination of the samples revealed compatible genetic codes, life that could incorporate the heavy metal and bind it. Problem solved. Disc shaped transports were dispatched for the golems use. Tankers for the newly engineered cyanide binding life forms.
Dispersal of the new primitive organisms proceeded. Other craft were dispatched outside to the planetary system and return both information and samples. The golems continually improved becoming autonomous. The slow exploration of the 9 nearest bodies was performed and data collected. Life was discovered on the forth and fifth planets. Type zero civilizations that would bear further research.
The oceans continued to fill, salinity levels were falling, the salt had been formed over the eons, remnants of the explosive metal and corrosive gases mighty battles, the stalemate of the ages. Icy comets continued to melt into the atmosphere, remnants of the birth gases of the young system, it would take many millions of years for theses snowballs to cease their assault.
Cyanide was being concentrated and trapped in the new sediment at the bottom of the oceans. Carbon monoxide and methane were being she'd into the atmosphere and frozen on the dark side of the planet. The light side was hot enough to melt tin. The lazy rotation almost matched it's orbit. Something had to be done. it ordered the golems to gather radioactive isotopes into a mountainous area near the equator.
A great machine was assembled it function to maneuver the planet. The radioactive elements were wrapped in nickel ore. The massive assembly slowly burrowed into the core through the mantle of the planet. Massive plumes of gas driven magma shot high into the sky. Just as it vanished it glowed white hot, and began to move..
Oceans boiled water exploded Tsunamis claimed to ultimate heights. Fortunately there was little life to lose.
The silver capstone lifted itself high into the air and hovered high above the collapsing limestone base. The planet was being torn apart and reformed by the great elemental forces. Silver disks containing fleets of golems escaped destruction as the final phase was implemented. The core settled and the planet shook, each quake drove it slightly faster until it's rotation accelerated. Winds buffeted newly formed land as steam recondensed and backfilled the young oceans
Another thousand years and the rains finally began to abate. A new base was formed for the capstone in the new southern continent. Another desert served as a source of silicon it's low humidity perfect for preservation of delicate machinery. The remodeled planet now had one supercontinent.
The last millennium had provided solutions to the cyanide and methane problems, and stable temperatures would allow for experiments with the lipids and fatty acids. It couldn't produce the life it knew here, but life could be produced, and it would be very different, and hopefully better.
The problem that presented itself now was that life was not self sustainable, it lived as long as a food supply was plentiful, but faded quickly, the cyanolife had faded away, and now the oceans teamed with proycotes and eukaryotes, the solution was finally found with the fabrication of a blue green molecule, such a massive thing! It could convert elementary molecules into simple sugars. Life imbued with it could create it's own food as long as some sunlight was available. It could even repurpose waste products from other life!
As the salinity of the oceans continued to fall the new life was distributed and for!med great clouds on the oceans. Carbon dioxide levels steadily fell as greenhouse gases were exchanged for corrosive oxygen. Now the abundance of blue green life had to be culled. It designed small life forms with extremely fast metabolisms.
Using the new biological molecules they competed for recources. It allowed the best candidates to continue, and "turned off" the defective ones, usually with a kill switch gene. A clear path for intelligence was beginning to emerge within the water born life. It had given up this path with the green life as the lack of food source drive rendered the form passive.
The animal life however o became instinctive and aggressive, as the size of it's nervous system grew the more it exceeded it ingrained instincts. It toyed with size limits, population limits and musculature, evaluating how much strength would be required to fight gravity. Then onto armor, digestion, neurons brain size, and respiratory systems. The heart became a major development.
Parasitic life was developed accidentally, this was troublesome, life had taken an easy side road here. It had no experience with such lazy organisms. To utilize others hard work to maintain yourself was an aneathma. It split the organisms into two sexes to confound the lazy ones. Parasites couldn't effect them anymore as they were selectively bred out of the gene pool.
The seas teemed with life, now plants were moved to the land.
