Xu Jingli was standing near the wall, his cigarette extinguished and his expression unreadable. When he saw her, his gaze softened slightly, a rare flicker of warmth crossing his face.
"Are you okay?" he asked, his voice low and calm.

Chen Mumu nodded, falling into step beside him as they walked back toward the room. The silence between them was heavy, but neither of them commented on it.
Her mind raced as they walked. Should she ask him about what she had heard? Should she pretend it never happened? A part of her wanted answers, but another part feared what those answers might reveal.
Xu Jingli, for his part, seemed as composed as ever. If the earlier confrontation with Mo Zi Lin had affected him, he didn't show it.
