In the midst of the dark universe, a shining star suddenly erupted upwards with blinding speed, leaving a trail of blazing light along its way.
--------------------
Feeling a warmth blanketing his body, he was left utterly confused, thinking it was all over after traversing the passage of death.
Bundles of flesh appeared all around him.
Stimulating some movement, he saw and felt the tiny limbs that responded.
"I am reborn?"
Realizing all his memories have been kept, he dazedly questioned if this was a dream or if it was reality. But before he could enter into thought, a force began pushing him outwards as his body struggled through a tight tunnel-like exit.
Cries of pain entered his ears.
Squeezed through, the heat surrounding him was lost in the outside air. The sudden brightness was blinding.
"Elena! Are you okay? The baby is safe Elena!" A man's voice was shouting in panic.
"Child... my child... please, bring him to me..." A woman weakly whispered.
The next thing he felt was a delicate pair of arms enveloping him. Gazing upwards, he saw a kind-looking woman. Beads of sweat covering her face, she was evidently weakened but doing her upmost to stay awake.
Warmly looking at him, she bloomed into a smile of happiness. "Austin, you will be named Austin," saying ever so softly, Elena held him for dear life like he was the most precious thing in the world.
Receiving such deep, unconditional love... this was in no way a dream. Austin's heartstrings were tugged, calming the unnerve in his heart. He wanted to get a closer look at his mother but was met with an increasing blurriness.
The frenzied voices in the background were becoming weaker, reaching the point where nothing could be heard.
Then, overwhelming drowsiness attacked, compelling him into sleep.
...
Seven years later.
Austin had grown into a young child. Blessed with dashing features, he possessed a captivating smile and bright purple eyes people easily lost themselves staring into.
Having slipped away from his morning responsibilities, Austin was currently in the Royal Library. Finally able to learn about this new world, he was quickly scanning through the shelves in search of suitable material.
The grand hall was empty of people, for only those of the highest prestige and importance could enter freely. Deemed sacred, there had never been the case of a child being here.
Austin was connected to the Royal Family - the Krashals, and therefore had a way of entry, albeit not a conventional one.
Taking many days of persuasion and warming up to her, Austin was able to convince the Krashal Queen into allowing him access to the library. Thinking back at what the Queen had done to him in payment, Austin quivered.
His mother was the personal maid for the Queen so he sees her on many occasions. In the Royal Palace, Austin was being trained to butler the Princess who happened to be of the same age.
Finding a small stool, Austin placed it down near the natural lighting provided through a window, sitting down on the upper floor between two closely stacked bookshelves.
He opened a book titled, 'The Basics of Magic.'
In this world, there existed magic.
The world is filled with a type of energy referred to as 'mana.' Mana is used as the medium for magic. The stronger one's mana, the more powerful the magic will be in their spell cast.
To distinguish these power levels, spells are segregated into 5 ranks which coincides with the ranks of magicians. These are classified as bronze, silver, gold, platinum, and diamond. Each rank is further separated by a system of stars, with low rank being 1-3, middle rank being 4-6, high rank being 7-9, and peak rank being 10 stars.
Manipulators of mana are called 'Magicians.'
Magicians can enhance their bodies and utilize the elements of Earth including Fire, Water, Earth, Wind, Light, and Dark. However, not everyone is given the freedom of choice. One must be born with corresponding Attributes to manipulate different kinds of mana.
Most people do not have any Attributes and can only use mana to enhance aspects of the body. They are referred to as 'Warriors' due to their incapability of casting spells and reliance on physical strength.
Mages, on the other hand, have one or more Magical Attributes. They are generally classified to be stronger than warriors, wielding more destructive power and a wider arsenal of attacks. However, this does not mean warriors cannot triumph over mages.
In particular, most Mages are heavily disadvantaged in close combat, with the exception of a few Classes that excel in movement or defense, such as Wind or Earth Mages.
Quenching his thirst for knowledge, Austin was wholly concentrated on the book.
"AUSTIN! Austin where are you!?"
Startled, Austin looked outside the window to see a young girl dressed in a pretty pink dress. She was frantically runny around whilst shouting for his name, her dress fluttering in the wind.
Letting out a sigh, Austin watched the girl run off in another direction before resuming to read. Unfortunately, she came back a short moment later, glaring daggers towards the library.
"I know you're in there! Come out already!" she declared.
Austin ignored her.
"If you don't come out in 10 seconds I will tell mom!!!
1! 2! 3!"
Austin groaned, placing the book back onto the shelf, thinking to himself why he had to endure such treatment. "I'm here Laura!" He shouted back at her in annoyance, but his voice clearly containing a maturity that Laura's did not.
"6! 7! 8!"
Laura ignored him and continued to angrily count in her high-pitched voice, only stopping when she saw Austin appearing at the entrance.
"Finally! How dare you ignore me Austin!" She said furiously with moist eyes and puffed cheeks, bending forward with one hand placed on her hips and the other pointing straight at him.
Austin smiled helplessly, dejectedly walking towards her, "Laura, I didn't hear you, that's why..."
"Humph!" Laura marched towards him and her tiny, white hand grabbed onto Austin's.
"Let's go!"
She pulled him away.
