Ritzy was finishing his meal of lemon pepper fish while a young knight stood next to him waiting impatiently. The young knight's feet and hands were moving about. Every once in a while he would try to say something but stopped right before a sound came out of his mouth.
Finally finishing his meal, Ritzy called on a nearby servant that was cleaning the pans used for cooking this morning breakfast.
Ritzy,
"Hey, you. The one cleaning the pans, come over here".
The servant hurriedly walked over to Ritzy, curious but a bit worried that his lord would suddenly call for him.
Servant,
"Y-yes my lord, how may I serve you?".
Ritzy,
"The meals we have been having during our journey here, were you the one making them?".
Servant,
"Yes but not only me. It was mostly my brother Zeke and I who made them. But, we still got some help from the other servants as well when it came to foraging and other non-cooking activities needed to make the meals".
Ritzy,
"Humble person, that's a nice trait to have... Oh, the reason I called you here is to reward you and your fellow peers. Follow me to the carriage".
The Young knight quickly interjected,
"Lord, we need to get ready soon. It won't be too long until we need to leave".
Ritzy,
"Don't worry, all my items are in the carriage so I need to go there anyway".
Young knight had no response to Ritzy's word so he said,
"A-ah, I understand".
Ritzy then stood up and walked to the carriage as the servant and young knight followed closely behind. The young knight was antsy and wanted to fulfill Alters orders quickly, hoping that it would impress his senior.
The servant on the other hand was walking merrily and excited. He has heard about how lords reward their subjects generously and this was his first time to experience it. He was even more excited that it was Ritzy rewarding him since Ritzy was the most generous noble he has ever seen and heard.
Arriving at the carriage, Ritzy jumped aboard and opened a large suitcase that he brought. The suitcase was mostly filled with Ritzy's personal items but there was also some things that were added into it by Christopher, Elizabeth, and Savior.
One of the items was a pouch filled with coins which Christopher included.
Ritzy scoured through the suitcase and found the bag of coins. Opening the bag, Ritzy was astounded. The bag was a mixture of silver and gold coins. The single bag of coins was many times over what all the servant's wages could be put together in a lifetime.
Ritzy expected to find copper and iron coins since the highest monthly wage here was Alter's, and he only earned 1 silver a month and that was considered in the high percentile. Just two of the lowest coins in the pouch was twice Alter's monthly wage.
The average wage of the subjects that traveled with Ritzy, not including Alter, was 8 iron.
Not knowing what to do next, Ritzy decided that he would just give him a huge tip. He took out six silver coins and approached the antsy servant. The servant seeing his lord come to him, he bowed and extended his hands so Ritzy could place his reward on them.
Ritzy placed the coins on the servant's extended hands and said,
"Two each for you and your brother. The last two coins will be shared by the other servants that helped you two".
The servant bowing wanted to cry.
Servant's thoughts,
'Why! You were always benevolent so I thought this reward would be generous as well. Who knew when it came to cold hard money you become cold-hearted. Even if you gave the most of 6 iron coins, it can't be used for anything good. It could only fit the bill for some necessities".
The young knight seeing 6 silver coins being handed to someone lower than him made him go into a coughing fit.
Servant's thoughts,
'Yes, please take pity in me my fellow subject. This reward is so horribly low, it should take your breath away'.
The servant then stopped bowing and forcibly gave a smile while saying,
"Thank you, Lord, for your generosity. I will not forget your kind gesture today".
With him now not looking at the floor anymore and looking at Ritzy, the coins were now in his perspective.
The servant then unintentionally said,
"Huh, these iron coins are brighter than I remember".
The young knight nearby finally calmed down and said when he heard the servant's words,
"It's because they're not iron coins".
Servant's thoughts,
'Don't tell me that these are worthless coins! Just fake coins that no one wants'.
Young knight,
"I know you have never seen silver coins before so it's no surprise that you're showing a confused face right now".
Servant,
"Wait! These are silver coins! Y-your not joking right now!?! You must be!".
Ritzy interrupted the servant's and young knight's conversation,
"Don't worry they are real silver coins. I thought it was appropriate since we're about to go to battle. If I die, I don't think you will receive a proper reward so I thought this would be an adequate thing to give the servants".
In reality, Ritzy didn't plan to give the servant so much but those were the lowest level coins he had on him.
Servant,
"Thank you! Thank you, Lord, for showing such kindness!".
The servant bowed once more and quickly ran back to the other servants.
Now gone, the young knight broke the silence,
"Sir, we must get you prepared for battle, so where is your armor so I can help you equip it".
Ritzy,
"Don't worry, my armor isn't like yours. The armor only needs one person to be equipped unlike yours and the other knights that require two people so it can be equipped".
The Young Knight not expecting that answer went quite.
Ritzy,
"Don't worry, you can leave now. Also, tell Alter that I'll be ready in five minutes".
The young knight bowed and said before he left,
"Understood lord, I will do that right away".
...
Ritzy alone in the carriage, he went back to the suitcase. Inside was Ritzy's entire equipment for intense battles.
Unlike the armor he used when he traveled here. This armor was much heavier in comparison. It weighed about 60 pounds instead of 20 pounds. There was much more metal used than his traveling armor, and was much more durable as well. Luckily, Ritzy's body has been greatly tempered from Benedire's harsh training. Even without using magic to reinforce his body, Ritzy could easily maneuver with the armor.
The armor was provided by Christopher so it was naturally something made to grab attention as well. Ritzy wanted his armor mostly to be leather and dark colors but Christopher didn't hear any of it because Christopher thought it was un-noble like.
Ritzy wanted it to be leather so it could be lighter and much more flexible but Christopher wanted metallic because he wanted his son to take everything that would be thrown at him. That Ritzy should valiantly receive attacks instead of having equipment made for dodging. Christopher thought dodging was for weaklings. That a man should only block, parry, or outright take the full blow.
Ritzy also wanted the armor to be dark colors like what he used in his old world. Dark colors didn't grab people's attention and it was exactly Ritzy's style. Ritzy's most proficient techniques were sudden surprise attacks and dark unnoticeable armor helped with that. Christopher denied this request as well because he saw surprise attacks as un-gentleman like. That no man should ever resort to such tactics. That one should wear armor that proudly shows the power and wealth of their family.
Ritzy armor was complete metal, head to toe. The only leather that the armor had couldn't be seen. The leather was only used as straps and as clothes so the chainmail inside the armor wouldn't scratch him. The armor was plate style and his helmet was extremely covered. Even a thin dagger couldn't pass through the holes of the helmet.
His armor was dyed a light red with a golden outline.
There were also many more weapons, five in total. The weapons were also much heavier than what he used when traveling here. Both of Ritzy's swords he used were only five pounds each but the new ones were at a minimum of 6 pounds.
Ritzy in reality wanted more weapons but Christopher didn't agree. Christopher said a man only needs two reliable weapons at most so the other three were secretly brought by Ritzy. Christopher said that using many other weapons would impede one's growth of skill in one's tools.
Ritzy's weapons included a 30 pound Zweihänder that went on his back which was provided by Christopher. A 24-pound straight sword that went on his hip which was the last weapon provided by Christopher. An 8 pound Kopis strapped to his thigh plate armor which Ritzy bought at one of the stores they passed by when they headed to the stronghold. A 6-pound dagger in his gauntlets which Ritzy also bought. And finally a 20 set throwing knife pouch that weighed 20 pounds in total. The pouch is to be tied on one's thigh but in this case, Ritzy's outer thigh armor plate. The knife pouch was a special request he asked Savior to provide.
