Chapter 1 - What a terrible terrible day.

Shit, dammit.

Today's been crappy.

First, I fell asleep and didn't finish my presentation for Psych 1301. Then, after being reprimanded by the crabby professor, I missed the bus and had to wait in the rain for another minute until the next bus.

By the time I arrived at the apartment, I was soaked to the bone, and my messenger bag is all wet. I mumble a few curses as I fumble around with my keys. I have to clean the floors after dragging my dirty self all over the floors.

"Waa, Waah!" Wait. Have I truly lost it? But wait. I don't sound like that. Did I kick something? I look down. Never mind, today has got a lot worse. Why is there a kid on the ground in a basket? Did its parents abandon it or something? What do I do? I'm already wet and tired. Should I call the police or something? Call the child protective services?

"Hey, I didn't know you have a kid?" I look around.

Omigosh, it's Daniel!

I internally squeal! But, wait. Won't he misunderstand?

"No, I just saw her on the ground when I was coming in."

Daniel laughed, "Yeah, I was kidding; I would have noticed if you had a kid or not since I live next to you."

"He would have noticed? Don't have a heart attack next to him. You can never live it down. Just because he says that it doesn't mean he pays attention to you."

"I'm sorry this baby just showed up on my front door while I was trying to go in. What should I do?"

Oops, I said that out loud.

I look at Daniel, he smiles. "Don't worry; I can watch him for you until you take a shower. I have experience looking after children from my nieces and nephews. Thank you! I hurry in."
