Chapter 1 - Chapter 1

~RIANNA~

I got two words for you. Ever true words, never changing, so eternal. "College Sucks!"

I'm legit being serious now. Like so d*mn serious. I wished all forms of school never existed. Except kindergarten maybe. It wasn't that bad back then except for the times I got suspended for beating up Bitchy Betty. Yeah...not so good then.

Beside me, Colette lay groaning and somehow her groans felt like salt and insults added to injury (mine by the way).

"You know your moaning isn't helping anything right now and isn't gonna help anything in the nearest future. So I suggest you put a sock in it before I do so myself."

She lifted her head from the position she was which was with her tummy, face down. "You don't have to take out your frustration on me either." she said, fiddling with the printed papers in front of her. "At least I'm taking out my anger by groaning. You, on the other hand, are just sitting there all high and mighty, trying to oppress other people."

I rolled my eyes at her. By other people she meant herself because she was the only one with me in my room. I wanted to lash out a snappy remark but held my tongue tied and decided to ask her something else. "How far have you gone with the other part of the project?"

"I'm sitting here, f***ing frustrated with nothing to show for my wasted hours, thank you." I rolled my eyes again and I was sure I would keep rolling them throughout today. Colette was just so dramatic. But she was here and we were helping each other out. So I had to give her a break.

"Okay I'm sorry Coco, I'm just going crazy with all these projects we have." I apologized as I stashed my huge textbooks on each other, then toppled them over so they made a loud noise crashing to the ground. I had to admit, it was kind of noisy and childish but it was also satisfactory too.

Those books were the demons keeping me up every freaking night. I had to read them every second I could in order to pass all the stupid exams we had to write. Now let's just take some time to imagine a world without textbooks or mean instructors... I know, it's too good to even think about.

"We gotta go to the library now." Coco announced.

I was not sure anyone's face could get more contorted than mine as I frowned at her. Not only at her but everything in existence at the time.

"Come on, Ree." she poked at me, stretching all of her whole body. Her hands were just a few inches from the light bulb and I sighed in envy. Colette wasn't overly tall, but she had the perfect height. She was exactly 5ft 8inches. Three inches taller than I was and exactly my dream height. It was too bad my genes only had "average" inscribed on them.

"We have to get to the library before it gets closed. Remember we've still got much work to do." She added.

"Tell me something I don't know." I heaved a loud sigh. I still had to pick up the books I threw on the floor and that was pissing me off even more than I already was.

"Yeah and don't forget to pick up the books. I don't know why you threw them away at first. Okay maybe I know why but the truth is any stupid sh*t you do always turns around to bite you in the ass."

I wished these texts could turn around and bite our professor in his ass too.

We grabbed our books and hurried to the car. The library was closing at 9'o'clock and it was 7:35pm. Less than two hours would so not be enough for us to do our projects.

I hurried to the passenger's seat while Colette took the wheel. Trust me I'm not much of a good driver so I'd rather be driven than drive myself.

The car—my car—shot onto the road leaving screeching marks on my driveway. I had forgotten how bad of a driver Colette also was. I may always be a loser at driving and more than often drive really slowly, but at least I didn't drive in a way that could make anyone lose their life.

"Colette!" I screamed as she meandered her way between two cars, then past a truck. Someone shoot me now. I thought.

We arrived at the library and Colette killed the engine with a satisfied grin on her face. She checked her phone. "Yes! It's just 7:42. "

I glared at her. "7:42, 7:42. You almost f***ing killed us."

"Stop f***ing swearing." she yelled-whispered.

"You're also swearing." I retorted. But I wouldn't and couldn't lie to myself, Colette was a really good-but-also-murderous driver. The ride to the library would had taken me almost ten or thirteen minutes (with traffic) but it took her about seven minutes to do the same.

She gave me a long look and said, "Let's save this argument for later. We've got work to do."

"There's nothing to argue about later." I replied, taking her free hand in mine and shouldering my backpack with my other. "But you still a b*tch. You know that right?"

"Yep. That makes us two b*tches." she replied, grinning.

We took our seats farthest in the library from the entrance. It was the only area with a glass window through which we could catch a glimpse of the outside world aka people not doing projects.

"I didn't see Mrs. Porter today. Did you?" I asked.

"Nope." she answered, unwrapping a piece of gum.

Mrs Porter was the Public Librarian. She was known to many people as being very strict but she was actually nice. Sometimes. On rare occasions, she was our friend even. We often had chats with her whenever we came to the library and that made me wonder why she wasn't at her desk today.

There was no one occupying her space at the moment and I felt a bit worried. Hopefully she was doing well. Recently, she'd been complaining about her hip more vehemently. It was one reason she'd become grouchier. The number of noisy teens that were thrown out of the library last week was epic.

"I wonder who took her place today." Colette said, chewing her gum in a way that made me wish I didn't have ears.

"Stop chewing that way." I forced through gritted teeth. "It's really annoying." I added and she chewed faster and more louder as soon as I said so. I hated this girl with all my soul. "I'm gonna go get the books we need." I told her, using the books as an excuse to get away from her irritating self.

Minutes later, I dumped the books I got from the racks in front of her. They formed a huge pile and she raised a perfectly shaped eyebrow at me. I, in turn, shrugged then started working on our project.

"Do you guys need any help?" a voice from behind me questioned. I turned around to see a devilishly handsome, good-looking, cute, sexy... Okay, I was using too many words. He was gorgeous is all I could say. Under the fluorescent lights, his hazel eyes were flecked with gold and they made me want to stare at them more. And the way he looked at me made me want to melt right in my seat.

I wouldn't had been surprised if he happened to be a model. My eyes were drawn to his body; muscles bulged out of the tight tee shirt he was wearing and I could see the outline of his abs on the shirt.

He had a cap on, which he tilted to the back making him look more intense and even more hot. Not forgetting he was also really tall. So cliche, right? Most cute guys were tall, yet I never seemed to get used to seeing tall, cute guys.

Kill me for that.

"No thanks. We're cool." I heard Colette saying. She was also staring at him.

He nodded his head at us then walked away, and I heard myself saying. "Hello nice..." but he was already gone.

"Do you think we'll see him again?" I turned back Colette and she put on a thoughtful but unhelpful look. We continued chatting and I tried to keep my mind off the cute guy we just saw. Then it hit me. Bingo. Since he just asked us if we needed any help, that meant he worked at the library.

D*mn!

"Coco did you notice that since he asked us if we needed assistance, that means that he works here?"

"Oh yes. Gosh!" she slapped herself. "I can't believe I didn't think of that. That means we'll see more of him here." she gave me a knowing wink. I winked at her back and then our winking went on for a while like idiots.

An hour into our stay at the library, more talking was done than working, with me answering absentmindedly to everything Colette said. I was searching every nook and cranny for my new crush. Colette got a bit pissed at me and snapped her fingers in front of my face. "What are you doing Rianna?"

"Leave me alone." I snapped a little too loudly.

"Can you please keep quiet?" That familiar baritone hushed behind me. Found him! I glanced behind me with a grin on my face. There was our sexy model guy.

Sitting transfixed on my spot without moving or blinking, I drank in about everything I could about him. He however walked away when he realised I wasn't going to say anything to him.

"Can you believe it?" I squealed excitedly. "He just talked to me."

"He told you to keep quiet..."

"Yes." I said grinning too enthusiastically. "I can't believe he said that to me. I think he likes me."

"You are more dumber than I thought. The library's closing in fifteen minutes. Let's start moving."

"Yeah." I replied packing my books into the bag I brought with me.

As we passed by the librarian's table, I gave model guy a little wave and a sexy smile as I walked out. He neither waved back nor smiled.

Behind me, Colette snickered. "Such a grumpy hottie."

Yeah, one grumpy hottie I was going to make mine...
