Chapter 154 - chapter 154. Eventful shopping for meat (2)

"Oh? She works for you?" I look at Orion and ask.

"Yes." Orion hisses out through gritted teeth.

"It's such a coincidence that we met here." Michiko says with a bright smile.

"Yes, it is. Why are you here?" I ask Michiko.

Michiko puts on a sad face. "I was buying food for my mother. She is currently sick."

"Oh. So sorry to hear about that." I apologize while trying to read her mind but for some reason I can't. I feel that she's just a normal human with a great intelligence but even with a great mental state that can't stop me from reading minds. What's wrong this time.

Just as I'm thinking of an answer I notice something with her earring. It seems silver but I see that it's white. A white spirit stone. Of course that's why I can't read her thoughts.

White spirit stones are represented by angels and one of angels most recognized ability is mind control or manipulation. Just look at Greek God Eros whose Roman counterpart was Cupid. He manipulated people to fall in love with each other.

Michiko's next sentence brings me out of my thoughts.

"Don't worry it's not something new. She has always been sick. I thought that she would've died sooner."

I look at her with a blank face for she said it sadly but something sounded like she wanted her mother to die sooner. How I know this is when I talk about Henry to gain sympathy from his clients or business partners I always use the same tone. Always hoping that Henry was sick and died. Aish, I'm a horrible person.

"Of course. I also have a brother that is sick when he gets anxious." I smile at Michiko.

Michiko eyes me before turning to Orion.

My face falls guessing her feelings towards him. I cling to Orion's arm. "Ori! We should go. You promised to have dinner with me." I whine in a flirtatious voice.

Ren and Orion both look at me with a weird expression but Orion quickly goes along with the act.

"Of course, Adi. Ren do you want anything?" Orion asks looking back at Ren but his expression and voice show an ounce of impatience.

"Oh. O-of course." Ren stutters a bit nervous after looking at Orion. Ren quickly shuffles past while Orion and I follow him.

"Do you think this is far enough?" Orion asks looking at my arms around his.

I look back and step away. "Yes. She has stormed away. You should be careful of her."

"Are you jealous?" Orion nudges me playfully.

I cross my arms over my chest while still holding the basket of meat. "I'm not jealous. I just feel that she has bad intentions towards you. That's all."

"Of course you're not." Orion pats my head.

Ren looks at the two of us before clearing his throat. "Let's get out of here."

"Okay." I nod and agree with him. We've met two people in one place which is a bit weird. "I'll go pay for this."

I begin to walk away but Orion takes the basket off me.

"I will go pay. You go wait outside." He says and strides away without giving me a chance to refuse.

"Let's go." I say and walk out of the supermarket with Ren. I lead the way but when we're about to get out of the shopping center which the supermarket is placed in I sense something weird behind me. I turn around.

Ren grabs my arm and pushes me into the wall. He grips my arms tightly. I look up at him in shock. How could he move so fast?

"What are you doing, Ren?" I ask looking up at him. I don't struggle from being in confusion.

"Do you like Orion Stone?" Ren asks looking at the floor.

"Of course. He's my friend. Why are you asking this all of a sudden?"

"Do you like him more than me?"

"What has gotten into you? What does liking him more has to do with anything?" I am genuinely confused. Never have I been in a situation like this in the sixteen years I have lived.

"Just answer me. Do you like him more than me?" Ren asks with force in his tone.

I scrunch my eyebrows together. "I like him more." I reply honestly.

Just when I expect Ren to talk, he harshly releases me and storms away.

I look at his receding back finding something sad about it. My confused face turns to determination and I walk after him. I'm going to tell him the truth. The truth that Orion is my bro-

"Deer? Is everything alright?" Orion holds my shoulder.

I turn around and face him. I smile. "Yeah everything is okay."

"What happened to Ren?" Orion asks looking at Ren who has already made it outside.

I shrug. "To be honest I don't know. He just asked me some weird questions. I answered them honestly and he stormed off after hearing them."

"What sort of questions?" Orion face slightly falls thinking of something.

"He asked if I liked you more than him." I reply.

"What was your answer?"

"I like you more. You're my brother." I answer.

Orion doesn't say anything after hearing my answer. I turn around concerned about his attitude.

"Oreo?"

"Yeah. Sorry I was just thinking of something." Orion snaps out of his thoughts. He pats my head. "Glad to know you like me more."

"Why wouldn't I? You're my brother. We've been through so much together." I smile at him.

"Indeed we have." Orion agrees. He starts walking to the car and I follow.

He stops when we get to the car and pulls out his phone. I peek from the side to see that there's a message.

"Sorry Adi but I have somewhere to be so I'll head back. Don't worry I'll call Nicholas' butler to pick me up." Orion assures me.

"Okay. Be safe." I say before getting into the backseat of the silver car with the bag of meat. I look across to Ren to see that he's looking out the window in a blank daze.

I don't say anything but when the car pulls out onto the busy street Ren turns to me.

"The team has a practice match tomorrow with a neighboring school. I have to go to support the team."

"Okay. I'll come too."

"Okay." Ren says and looks back out the window.

The ride goes by in silence. A weird eerie silence reminding me of the moment before a battle or assassination.

And for some reason something inside me feels sad like it doesn't like this. Like it shouldn't be like this.
