Pak!
My hand stops the ball inches from Ren's face. I look coldly at the one who threw it. I stand up and raise the ball before throwing it lightly up. I bring my hand down and slam the ball towards Osaka High coach who has his hands open to catch it. The ball lands perfectly in his hands.
He looks up shocked before throwing the ball to Yuu Yachi who is next to serve. I sit back down with Ren looking at me with bright eyes.
"I didn't know that you could spike. Can you teach me?" Ren asks.
"Volleyball isn't my thing. I'd rather basketball." I decline. I look down at the floor remembering Aito who used to play basketball. Ren also played basketball but he stopped once we came back to school hence joining the volleyball club.
The match ends and Osaka wins. Both team shake hands and begin packing up before chatting with one another.
I stand up preparing to go but Ren has other ideas. He walks straight up to Yuu Yachi.
Oh my god. He has some real guts. I stand quietly by the wall to leave Ren to fanboy. I sigh when sensing someone come towards me. I open my eyes which were resting and see the Osaka High coach.
"Can I help you?" I ask without any emotions since I don't know him.
"You're the transfer student with the English name but everyone calls you Chikara-san, right?"
"How do you know me?" I ask getting serious. I'm ready if he does a sneak attack.
"Hayashi told me about you." The Coach replies.
"So?"
"I'm his cousin my last name is also Hayashi." The coach answers.
I nod believing since I read his mind. Sorry Oreo.
"You beat everyone at swimming and even the best Daniel-san."
I still can't believe that people can Daniel but can't say Adira. It's so easy three sounds; ah-deer-ah or ah-di-ra. So simple yet really no one says it.
"Nice to meet you, Coach Hayashi but if you'll excuse I need to go." I hope I never meet you again. One Hayashi is enough thank you.
I walk to Ren and grab his sleeve. "Sorry but we're running late for our train." I smile and nod at Yuu Yachi before leaving.
"Wait. Chichi-chan." He runs after us.
"Yes." I turn back to him.
"We should meet up one day to talk." Yuu says.
I nod. "Sure." I grab out a pen and paper before and write my number on it. "By the way I'm Adira Blackwell." I tell him while handing the piece of paper over to him.
Yuu nods understanding. "Okay. Well I'm Yuu Yachi now." He chuckles.
I laugh before leaving with Ren.
*****
"How do you know my idol?" Ren interrogates.
I look at him from the other side of the counter. I shrug my shoulders and eat a chip. "I brought him."
"You what? Brought him!!?"
"Yeah. It was 8 years ago. I went to the black market for an errand and came across an auction. Well Yuu Yachi was one of the children in the auction. I was originally just going to walk past but I saw a guy that hates me and he was bidding on the children so I decided to snatch them from him."
Ren raises his eyes when I pause.
"I won since he doesn't have as much money as me. He went full crazy and shifted into a wolf right there and then but he wasn't going for me. He was going to the children. He must've decided that if he can't have them no one can. I went to stop him and we fought. I won since he was still a pup but I was severely injured because the b*stard had a body guard who had a gun filled with gold. Yuu Yachi was the one to clean up the blood. I took the children to Enchant Island and they are all Enchantments, all except Yuu Yachi."
"Why not?" Ren asks.
I shrug my shoulders. "He wanted to make a name for himself so he left."
Ren nods.
"Do you want to know why he named himself Yuu Yachi?" I ask him, looking down at the glass of water in front of me.
"Why?"
"He looked exactly like my brother Braxton everything from his face to the scar on his elbow. I was even wondering if he was a lost brother but that was just my 8 year old brain making it up since if I had another sibling I would have surely known. Everything was identical to Braxton except the color of his hair. Well Yuta was Braxton's middle name and everyone called him you so he came up with Yuu. I don't really know where he got Ya from but he did get Chi from Chikara. Well that what he told me before he left." I sigh deeply and my eyes turn gentle. "I would have never thought that he would take up volleyball."
"So you had history." Ren says but I feel that it sounds forced.
"Mhm." I hum and nod. "Yes but not much."
Ren nods and walks away. "Next year I want to join the volleyball tournament." He says.
"Good luck." I smile at him but he doesn't see because his back is turned to me.
Ren goes to his room while I think about Yuu.
"It's a miracle that he's alive." I whisper and a strange emotion settles in my eyes. "But for how long?"
"Woo." Asra softly howls in her sleep.
I shake my head and the strange emotions disappear. I shouldn't be thinking about him.
I stand up and pat Asra's head making her jump twelve feet in the air. "It's just me, girl." I whisper softly which calms her down. "Go back to sleep." I smile and turn on the TV.
After a few shows I get up and go for a shower.
"Hey Chikara, didn't you think that my idols spikes were awesome?" Ren asks from the other side of the door.
I stop singing. "What?"
"Didn't you think that Yuu Yachi's spikes were awesome?" Ren repeats louder this time.
"I guess." I shrug even though he can't see it. I finish rubbing the shampoo in my hair which has turned totally white from the bubbles. I rinse my hair while listening to Ren ramble on about spikes.
"Did you see the setter dump? That was so cool. Do you think that I could be that good?"
"The only way to know is to try but can you go away? I'm taking a shower."
"Oh, um. Sorry." Ren apologizes and his footsteps go back to his room.
"Phew!" I sigh and hop out of the shower. I take my under clothes off and change into new ones. I put on a loose t-shirt which is actually mine and put on some short tights. I leave my hair wet and leave it down since it's a bit hot. I walk out of the shower just as Ren appears.
"Someone uploaded a video of Yuu playing. He's so awesome!" Ren fanboys.
"Okay." I nod, not really interested since I know him and he is a human.
Ren starts going on about Yuu's hair and I can't help but sigh.
"Ren I respect that you love Yuu Yachi but does all humans fanboy/girl like this? If so why don't you just start practicing so that you can be on the same level as your 'idol'?" I ask.
"That's not the same!" Ren whines.
"If you get to the same level as them you get to verse him and see him more, isn't that better than just talking about him?"
"You don't know what it's like since you don't have an idol. Relatives are not included."
"Yes I don't idolize anyone, why would I? I mean people are people. They either work hard to get what they want or they get given it. So why should I care? I was always in the spot light even before I was born. Idolizing someone is beneath me just like humans are." I say, sounding offended.
"I didn't mean it like that." Ren hurriedly says.
"What? Did you really think that I'd say that?" I ask. I scoff when seeing his face contort into confusion. "I actually don't idolize anyone instead I respect and admire them. You said relatives are not included fine. Master Bai is the one I look up to the most. He's always been there when I needed it most."
"I-I-" Ren stutters not knowing what to say.
"I admired Master Bai and complimented him on everything just as you did but unlike you I worked hard to be on the same level as him." I tell Ren off and after I walk to my room and slam the door shut, pissed at Ren for some reason.
