A few days later,
The sports festival arrives.
"I'm not wearing that" I tell Teacher Ito when he hands me a red swim suit with short sleeves and shows off my legs.
"I don't want to give it to you either Chikara but every girl is going to wear one" Teacher Ito whines.
"I have a red and black long sleeve swimsuit with shorts that goes to my mid-thigh. Why can't I just wear that, Epstein?" I ask him.
"Fine but if anyone asks why you didn't wear the swimsuit given just say that I made you change" Epstein says.
"Why are we even arguing?" I ask him.
"I don't know" Epstein sighs.
"Swimming is later in the day"
"We have to go, the speech is about to start" Epstein says looking at his watch. We walk out of the empty classroom and to the field where there is over 1000 students lined up.
We walk to our class and Teacher Ito goes to the front where the teachers are standing while I I stand behind Aito and in front of Ren. The principal stands up on a small stage and starts talking through the microphone.
"blah blah blah. Let the festival begin!" the principal says in which the school burts into applaud and cheer.
"Maniacs" I mutter when they start to applaud and cheer.
I go to where there is a big red stand and take a seat in the back row where no one sits. I lay down not bothering about anything that's happening.
"I thought that you'd be doing the girl dance" Aito takes a seat at my feet.
"I thought you'd be prancing with the boys" I snap back.
"I don't prance"
"Really because I swear I've seen you"
"Stop bickering. Adira you're bickering more than when you and Killian fight" Daniel sits near my head.
"Sit on my hair and I'll throw you off the stand" I threaten him.
"Fine, fine" Daniel places my hair onto his lap so that he knows where it is.
Cheering comes and goes and soon the small events take place like the egg spoon race. Which I don't attend any. Lunch soon comes with the 5 boys winning a few ribbons.
I grab my lunch out which is a vegetable biryani which has a golden tasty look to it.
"What it that?" Ren asks seeing biryani for the first time.
"Biryani a mixed rice dish from an Indian subcontinent" I respond while taking a bite.
"What's in it?"
"Rice, eggs vegetables"
"I've seen a lot of foreign dishes from you. There was that black, bitter spread. Now biryani" Ren says drooling at my food.
"Adira swimming starts after lunch" Daniel calls while climbing up the stairs towards us.
"Okay" I respond quickening my pace.
"You don't have to scarf it down. Lunch isn't over for an hour" Quasar says sitting beside Ren.
"I want to get there early to change" I take a sip of the milk I brought and swallow the last mouthful of biryani. "Done. Bye" I wave and scurry down the stand taking my bag with me.
I change my shoes and sprint down the hallway which connects the high school building to the swimming pool. I swap pixie's secretly so that Lion (yellow female pixie) looks after Ren while Ocean (blue male pixie) is with me.
"Ocean can you clean the water?" I ask nicely.
"On it, A" Ocean replies before using his magic.
I leave him to it and rush into the changing room. I'm about to pull my shirt off when Junior (spirit/ghost friend) pops up.
"Damn it Junior. I was about to get changed" I pull his ears.
"Sorry Senior" Junior apologizes. "But there's an emergency."
"What is it ths time?" I ask watching him float back a bit.
"The Renata elders are demanding you to return"
"Kill them" I wave my hand.
"But..." Junior hestitates.
"But what?"
"Everyone except the primate elder is demanding"
"Like I said kill them. I wanted to get rid of them a long time ago but Edith wouldn't let me" I puff my cheeks.
"Who do you want to be the new elders?" Junior asks writing down everything so that he doesn't forget.
"Get young pretty people mainly their grandchildren" I say.
"Young and pretty. Grandchildren" Junior mutters while scribbling.
I peek at his note book to see messy handwriting. "Improve you're handwriting."
"But I'm a warrior"
"Who cares? Warriors should have neat handwriting too"
"Okay. That's all. Got to go. Bye" Junior disappears.
"Next time ring the bell" I say to thin air.
"Yes Senior" Junior's voice says.
I change into my swimsuit and throw my school jacket over the top. I walk out to see Ocean laying on the 4th diving board. "Okay enough tanning, get back in" I command.
"You're such a spoiler" Ocean sticks his tongue out before diving into the black ring just in time when I hear voices.
I clean the 4th diving board of the blue sparkles before sitting on it.
"See class 3-4* female competitor is already here" I hear PE teacher Hayashi voice boom.
"Oh yes, the transfer student" the other teacher says pushing his glasses up his nose.
'Such an odd pair' I say inwardly. One big, one lanky. One dyed blonde, one brown hair. Tanned and pale. Tall, short.
"She doesn't really talk much" Hayashi says. "Doesn't really do anything."
"Neither in my class" the blonde Sasaki says.
"But she did rank in top 5 in language" Hayashi says.
"That's true. What do you think she'll come?" Sasaki asks.
"Don't know. Never seen her do any sports"
They both go silent.
Lunch ends and the pool is filling with some students and teachers. The students are mainly Daniel's fan club.
Teacher Hayashi starts introducing every class which has 2 competitors. When Daniel gets called girls scream. I make a barfing sound which everyone hears but ignores.
"From class 3-4. Male competitor is Aito Abe and female competitor is Adira Blackwell" Hayashi has trouble at my name. I take my jacket off to show my petite body.
"She's so small"
"She's like a cute mouse"
"That's not fair. She won't keep up with the other girls" People start talking.
"I always knew she was small but never imagined her this small!" Hayashi gasps.
"Are you sure you want to continue?" Sasaski asks.
"Yes I'm sure" I answer.
"Okay" Hayashi continues calling names. "The rules are simple 1st round will be freestyle with girls vs girls and boys vs boys. Whoever wins will race with the opposite gender winner and then the winner of that race will be the winner. If the winners of the gender races are from the same class then that class wins." Hayashi booms. "The boys will go first."
"I couldn't imagine you were this small" Sasaki walks up to me while Aito gets ready to race.
