The sun was setting. It was way past business closing hours.
The security guard was soon to check on that floor. Yet Michael was anxious. Something went very wrong she promised that she would be here. They had an appointment. They were going to celebrate their engagement together but where was Sascha?
He retrieved his iPhone X and went and speed dialed her number.
The telephone operator replied,
'Sorry, the mobile subscriber cannot be reached.'
Her phone is off? Maybe something happened or she forgot to charge her phone', he thought.
'Babe please be OK,' he muttered to himself.
The his phone lit up, indicating an incoming call. He didn't check the caller ID he received the call and said
'Hey, babe what took you so long?'
'She's kept you waiting again, Mike?' the caller replied.
'Gosh sorry, Gabe I just assumed....' He trailed.
Gabe Sullivan had been his childhood friend, there parents had been friends since highschool, they lived and grew up in the same neighborhood, so it was natural for them to be friends. Gabe was like his biological brother -his twin even though they were not blood related. He was even closer to him than his own family.
There was much he loved about Gabriel, for he was the only true friend who stuck through it all the bullying the estrangement from his family, he was always there comforting, encouraging and giving him the wake up calls if he got too sappy or depressed. It reached a point he could even imagine a life without him.
