Chapter 16 - Chapter 16

"A long time ago, we belonged to the Jumpers. At that time, I and your mother were students. We didn't have the opportunity to earn a lot of money in a short time until one of my colleagues pointed out a cult to us. At first we didn't want to belong to any sect and he didn't mean it that we join, but that we are just couriers. They handed over mail, package nothing more. We didn't do anything to anyone..." "Did you see what was in the letters and packages?", Jessica interrupted him. He shook his head. "It wasn't my place to ask or think about it." "Do you know your way around? With the jumper?" He replied in the negative, but he knew who could help. The goods that were delivered were never picked up at headquarters, but were brokered through someone else. And it just so happened that my father knew a young employee named Mona. He jerked out his phone and texted her a code. She replied to him 2200 home. While me and Jessica talked about other possibilities, the father then looked to us. "I've contacted her. She'll be at the coffee shop down the street at ten o'clock. She's always there earlier than we discussed. Be there earlier!" "Do you trust her?" we asked him the question. He nodded, fully trusting her. "Aren't you interested in why we're doing this?" shot back Jessica. "Should it?" he wondered. She looked at me briefly before saying, "No, it's fine!" We thanked each other. We got dressed and started walking already, because 10pm wasn't that far away. We were walking down the street, enjoying the quiet moment, when Jessica stopped. I shook her by the shoulders, whereupon she greeted me, "Hi, Jack!" "um, and you're Jean?", I asked skeptically. He nodded. "What happened?" "We're going to talk to a mind jumper." He made big eyes at my sister's body. "Don't worry, we will find out where the secret hiding place is!" "These people are dangerous. I will come with you." We walked down the street. It was ten to eight. At the end of the street was a café. As we did so, I noticed a woman looking at us. I approached the woman who was staring at me like that, spoke to her. "Good eyes little one," she said before holding out her hand to me. "I'm Mona." Jean joined in just then. Her long black hair went behind her ears. In addition, she had blue eyes, a shirt and a skirt that were over black nylon pants. "Why did you want to see me?" she inquired. "I'm looking for the mind jumpers." She looked at me in amazement. "You know them?" was her question first, before she realized what I was actually trying to say. She smiled at me as she told me, "Yes, I can take I to them. To the headquarters." I was suspicious of her smile, something was on her mind, but what? "And you'll help us just like that?" She nodded. "But I want to do it tonight." "What's the rush?" "Tomorrow is too late. One thing you need to know about the mindjumpers. If you don't do something, they'll have their plans fulfilled quickly." She quickly looked around her to see if anyone was watching them. "Come with me," she ordered us before standing up. She ran down the next street as they ran into a building. Jean in Jessica's body and I ran after her, stepping into an apartment and plans were on the table. She had it all planned out! "I worked for her and now I want her out of my life. The plan is already made," she showed this to us. "If you are ready, then we can go." Jean looked at the plan. "Not bad," he muttered to himself. It didn't take long for him to agree and me with him. "Good, then we can get going." She explained that all the stuff was ready so we could go now. The three of us, squeezed full, got into a small red car in which we were taken to a place I had never seen before. Outside the city, she parked the car at a building that does not look conspicuous, but the outer appearance is deceptive. Even at a closer look, there was a modern key entry, which Mona was frightened to open with a PIN. When asked how she knew this, she said that this was the emergency entry. We walked through a large dark room. We saw how people were kept in salaries. They were floating in a greenish liquid. It looked like something out of a horror movie. Behind them all, Mona found a door that she opened for us. We arrived in an empty control center, where we watched all the surveillance videos on screens. That such an important center was unguarded was surprisingly unusual. Something was strange and I had to know it. As soon as me and Jean got closer to the buttons, Mona pulled a gun behind our backs. I was all the more amazed at how Jean was right about never trusting a mind jumper. We were now at the headquarters of the Mind Jumpers. Mona, who was supposed to help us, went behind us and now she was pointing a gun at us. "To the other side!" her voice pitch suddenly changed. We turned clockwise. "Through the door on the left." We looked to the left. There was indeed a door that we and I had not noticed before. We ran through the door . It was clear she could shoot us at any time. We had no other choice. As soon as we opened the door, a bright light shone on us. "Go!" she ordered, to which we entered. Many people wearing white coats looked at us. A machine that looked like a sphere, but had a seat inside, was across from us. They were preparing something. Across from us was a door that opened. Suddenly a man in a wheelchair stepped out through it. He clapped as he was pushed. "Well done, Mona." We looked at her with disappointment. How could she do such a thing? " I was waiting for those, Jack." He was the boss of the gang, but why had he waited for me? I looked at him. "With this machine, I can possess any body I want. And the first thing I'm going to do is take your body." "Why me?", I asked him. "You have an invention from your father that I want to possess. It is very valuable." "Hanson, take me to the machine?" he ordered his butler. He approached the machine and my doom approached. And although the situation was hopeless, something unusual still happened. Mona shot. Frightened at first, she yelled, "Stop him!" After she did that, she pulled out of her pants another gun, which she gave to Jean. Now it was clear to me what she was doing. She was just acting like she belonged to the Mind Jumpers. I ran at the man who by now was sitting on the machine. I ran at the butler, Hanson, who was running at me. He swung his hands around, kept missing me as I hit him with a right hook. I held on to the shirt of the man who wanted to possess my body. Although,he tried to catch me, I was able to drag him out of the chair so that I was sitting in his seat. Right after he fell to the floor, out of nowhere the door closed down. Thus, I was in the machine. I felt my fear, the fear of dying. While I was in my thoughts, cables shot into my back, sending electric shocks as well as a liquid I had no idea about. I screamed in pain. Unaware that the multiple electric shocks and the liquid were causing an earthquake, I passed out before I could even watch my sister and Mona die. The earthquake caused the ceiling to collapse. Many hours later, I had been borrowed from the rubble off.
