Darrow could barely lift his head, it took Valik and my dad to move him onto the cot next to my bed. He was so ashen now and his hair had begun turning grey, his eyes were sunk in and his lips were dry and cracked. He was at his most vulnerable and I knew he hated it just as much as I did. I had been storing the essence he'd been feeding me and I think I have enough. I just need to focus it and maybe I can make it last a bit longer. I closed my eyes and walked directly beside Valik. I focused every bit of my energy and tapped into the life essence Darrow had given me. I reached out my hand and in my minds eye I saw my hand touch his shoulder and sure enough when I opened my eye's I was, in fact touching his shoulder. He turned on his heel and stared into my eye's. I smiled then looked to Darrow. His eye's were open and staring up at me. I touched his cheek and before I faded away I whispered to him. Then the energy was spent and I was back in the nothingness. Darrow forced himself up onto the edge of the bed.
"Food. Now." Was all he said.
Trixa and Valik disappeared simultaneously and a few moments later they reappeared with arms full of food. Darrow devoured everything. Donuts, cakes, chicken, ham, bread, veggies, fruits they brought everything but the kitchen sink. Trixa watched as Darrow destroyed the food, she looked worried. Valik wrapped an arm around her waist and leaned down to press his lips to her neck.
"What's the matter." He questioned.
"It won't be enough. Hold on I'll be right back." She said as she laid a light kiss on his cheek then bounded off to the balcony.
"Valik, explain." Darrow's husky voice echoed in my ears and lit my soul aflame. I could hear him gaining his strength back.
In the few moments it took Valik to explain what mama had told them and daddy to go get another arm full of food, Trixa finished doing whatever she had been doing on the balcony. When she came back through the door's everyone looked up at her, she didn't come alone. Valik quickly shot to her side and pulled her into him, shoving her behind his muscular frame. I on the other hand knew exactly who she had brought in with her. It was none other than his lordship himself. Her father, King of the Forest Elves. Daddy bowed as a show of respect, Darrow rose to his shaky feet and did the same before daddy had to help him back down. Valik stood resolute with Trixa behind his back. I could see her giggling as her face turned a warm shade of pink. Lorien, Trixa's father, ignored him...for now, and made his way to Darrow. He knelt in front of him and bowed.
"I have heard how you saved my daughters life and the lives of my good friends wife and daughter, my Goddaughter. I am Lorien Nunos, High King of the Forest Elves and I am here to repay the debt I now owe you." He pulled a flask from beneath his long green robes.
"This is water from the Eternal Spring. It will restore you to your former self within the few moments after it touches your lips. A single gulp will heal you, two will return all your strength and three...will give you eternal life and invulnerability."
Darrow took the flask. After eyeing it for a few seconds he turned it up to his lips. I watched as his adams apple bobbed with his gulps. 1......2.....that was it. He stopped on two. Lorien took the flask as Darrow held it up to him. A wry smile tried playing on his elegant lips.
"You stopped." He said.
"Aye."
"Why?"
"Ye said if'n I drink more than two gulps I'd beh invulnerable an' eternal right? Well I don' wan' tha. I'd rather live one life with Nova than a thousand withou' 'er. I thank ye Lord Lorien, you've don' meh a great service." Darrow said as he stood and stretched.
His eye's were bright and his skin had returned to its vibrant natural tan, his hair and beard were blue black again and his lips full and hydrated. His muscles rippled as he stretched them and cracked his neck. Lorien walked back to Trixa who then escorted him to the balcony. Before leaving he looked back and I swear it looked like he was looking right at me. I had no time to curse him, mama, or myself for that matter. Darrow was picking up my body and making his way to the balcony as well. What the hell was he gonna do with me?! He walked to the edge of the balcony then lifted himself and my body onto the ledge. Oh......shit, he's not....he is... Oh shit. He jumped.
