Chapter 135 - Trouble at the shop part 1

"I don't recall having any habits of informing stray dogs where am I going and why."

With Baxhar lashing at me, I couldn't help my tongue back. While I'm weak as ant right now, with Eve on my side, I don't have anything to worry about.

"I don't think this is the way a proper man should speak."

Stepping up, Baxhar companion rebutted my words. Without a system, I couldn't even assess his overall strength, but seeing how he dare to face someone who trashed Baxhar in front of so many eyes, he had to be someone either strong or influential.

"Butting in other people affairs is considered even a greater transgression of morals."

Not willing to just let them get on top of my head, I simply pass through them while pulling Eve with me. Even without my real strength, she seems to turn meek as soon as she spotted her former fiancee. I guess its a psychological thing.

"Is that how local cultivators speak to an esteemed master from the Cyndric Sect?"

While Eve still managed to just ignore them, as soon as Baxhar's companion speaks up, she froze on the spot. That's funny. I never knew that other sects were actually visiting this remote place!

"I don't know where are you from, who is your backer or what made you believe that you are esteemed enough for me to pay any attention to you. I don't have any business with your mighty person, so I don't see any reason to waste both mine and your time here on idle talks!"

Since this man's attitude wasn't as bad as Baxhar's, I turn around to properly see him off. As soon as the last word leaves my mouth, I just turn back towards the interior of the shop and proceed inside.

"Master, I believe he came here to cause trouble! Would you mind staying there for a bit to prevent their vicious deeds?"

Before the doors close, I notice with the corner of my eye that this 'esteemed guest' holds the entrance in place, before following us inside. What the hell is wrong with him? If he really is as esteemed as he attempts to appear to be, why does he bother with some stranger like me? If he can be influenced by the words of human trash of Baxhar kind, I don't think I will be able to hold myself later on!

Ignoring them for now, I roam the shop with Eve on my side, picking various items that pique my interests. Two gold and silver ingots, a pack of leather, some valuable stones… In less than ten minutes, the bag provided by the shop is already full of wares!

"Bart… I'm not sure if I took enough money to pay for all of this…"

Ugh. It's my fault for not thinking about it in the first place. I didn't inform Eve that we will go get some serious shopping done before we left, so it's not a surprise that she didn't take enough coins with her!

With this strange duo following every step that we make, we would lose face if we were to put even a single ware away from the bag. To go on a date and cause my significant other to experience public shame? No way I will allow that!

"Master, just like I said! Just look at their faces! There is no way they have enough money to pay for all of this!"

Noticing the small exchange between me and Eve, Baxhar instantly pointed his finger at us and shouted to make sure that a big portion of the clients inside the building will hear his rant.

"You don't need to worry, I will figure something out!"

Even if I try to act relaxed, I'm in quite the trouble! I never paid any attention to such a mundane thing as money with how busy I was exping my system. If I won't come up with a clever way to avoid the problem in front of me, I will never forgive myself!

Hearing the Baxhar's shouting, one of the shop attendants approached us and said in a small voice.

"Esteemed sirs, I don't want to be rude, but if you are unable to pay for your purchases, I will need to ask you to leave in advance!"

While her attitude is polite, I can see a disgust seeping out of her eyes. Just by saying those words out loud, she made sure that her workplace won't be held responsible by anything that would transpire later on while making sure to put us in a tough spot!

"Money? Is that how you treat your customers? What made you believe that I will need any money to get those things?"

When in doubt, attack! Even a stupid action is better than no action at all! With nothing to lose, I decided to bet everything on a single card.

"What do you mean you don't need money? Just as I thought! Guards! Escort this man out of the building!"

Hearing my words, the store helper takes her sweet time to process what I just said, before flaring up and calling for the bouncers! Oh sweet, summer child! You don't know that you just hoisted yourself with your own petard!

"What is going on here?"

With the commotion growing in scale, even the shop manager? Owner? Anyway, an important person that takes care of the entire shop came down to our floor. In serious establishments like this one, small problems might be common, but to go as far as to throw someone out? This called for his reaction!

"This pair came here, loaded their bag with various, precious wares despite not having money at all to speak of! Considering the words of this man, they even wanted to steal them away!"

Taking the initiative, Baxhar stepped forward and said all of this while pointing his finger at us.

No matter how much the commotion grew, I just stood calmly on the spot with a polite smile plastered on my face. If the owner of this place dares to throw me out without hearing me, I will just ask Leila to pay him a visit later on.

"Is that a truth, sir?"

I guess my bet paid off! Noticing my calm composture, this important person must've realised that something wrong is going on with all the accusations thrown at me if I was able to keep acting as if nothing serious happened!

"Yes and no. Never said that I'm going to steal those wares from this distinguished shop. Only someone with their mind lacking would ever attempt doing something like this! But the other part is true. I do intend to leave this place with this stuff but without paying a single coin. What's more! I can bet that You sir, will be the one offering me the money!"
