The next day.
As usual, Hanako went to work.
She met Luna on the way, who was as cheerful as usual. She told her that she has an appointment with the president at 11.
'What?? You are going to have an appointment with the boss??'
'Yeah it seems.'
'You saw him angry right? On the first day? You need to brace yourself! Do you know what you're talking about?'
'Well....yes...you know the article I'm writing right now? About the NewStar Brand? I think he wants to check on with me...'
'Woaahh....really?? You must be really good then! He doesn't usually check on us like that you know? Actually, he never does!'
'Oh....actually, I'm pretty worried because I haven't gotten very far with it. My head's been all over the place these few days.'
'You'll be fine! He must really like you anyways, since he's making an effort like that!'
'You think? I think he's just trying to micromanage me since I'm new....'
Hanako grumbled and Luna giggled.
11am.
Hanako walked into the president's office building. It was right opposite of her office so it was easy to find, but its aura made her nervous. Different to other building, it was so high, it looked like a tower instead of an office.
'So....the 15th floor...how the heck does he climb all the way up there?? It doesn't even have an elevator! I mean, I know they are building one, but...why so late?' She huffed and puffed. 'These stairs are killing meeee.....'
When she reached 15th floor, she found the door with a name card saying 'Yoshida Kuni'.
She knocked and knocked, but nobody answered. She went in anyways.
'Excuse me.....'
The office was very tidy and modern. The sofa, especially, looked so comfy after walking all the way to 15th floor.
She silently sat down on it, afraid that the president will tell her off for it. The purple leather sofa felt soft under her, and as she was feeling more comfortable...
She heard some sounds coming from the side of the sofa.
She saw something that looked like a pair of horns. She pulled them and....
'Gaaahhhhhhkkk!!!!'
She heard a painful scream!
'Huh? What?? Whaaat???'
It was a man with horns. No, actually, it was the president, wearing horns!
'I...I'm sorry! But you didn't actually have to scream that loud!'
'But it hurt! Would you not feel pain if someone pulled at your horn like that??' Whined the president. He sounded like a baby.
'But boss... I don't have horns...'
'Oh right. Anyway, let's talk about your article. How much have you written?'
He diverted her attention to the agenda for the day, but she already stopped listening. Lots of thoughts swam around inside her head.
What's up with those horns??? Is that real??
No...they can't be...they must be fake, but....it's not holloween yet! Is he an otaku?? No...if he is an otaku then he will probably have character body pillows, or something with cute girls drawn on them! Or maybe....he's a Chuunibyou?? (a person who acts in an embarrassing way pretending to be he or she is from fantasy world)
That would make sense...she thought. He might be pretending he is a devil or a monster.
She just started to imagine the president, pretending to be a devil with a horn, and chanting spells with his friend or a younger brother. Cute, she thought. He would actually make a good father. She laughed inside.
'...Miss Yuuki? Are you paying attention?'
'....Cute.'
'Sorry??'
Hanako realised what she just blurted out. 'Sorry!! I didn't mean cute...I mean...uhh...I said it again....sorry...forget what I said, please!!'
She clasped her hand together and bowed. Her face was all red now and she trembled head to foot, thinking that he is going to yell at her.
However, the president sat motionless. He didn't yell at her, but his face became even stiffer than before. He hit the glass table with his fist, which broke the table.
'Kyaaaa~~~' Hanako screamed and ran away. She didn't even know how she was running down the stairs....she was too busy to run away from him as far as possible.
Yoshida Kuni stood up and stared at Hanako as she ran away. He didn't show any emotion on his face and there was no way to tell what he was feeling from the outside.
