Chapter 8 - Living alone from now on

His father was different from his social mother; rather than focus on bio-weapon development, his father was leading a research team on exploring and extrapolating astral bodies and physical phenomena related to Project: Starlight.

This was a joint project among the 5 top conglomerates of the Eteria, and the research laboratory where his dad was in was one of the main laboratory per country. One of conglomerates was known for pioneering space exploration, and thus they were heavily invested by multiple governments.

Their supplies for rare metals and the ones that can take a hit from at least someone in the Demigod class were dwindling, thus they could only slow down the progress of building the first manned space jet. However, recently, they began increasing the speed of their work.

It seemed to coincide the time Xander was duplicating rare metals and rare materials along with gold. He did produce quite a handful of those metals, like around 500 tonnes? They were cheaply bought too, even if there was a high demand, low supply market for them; probably because Xander was in a rush to sell them.

Project: Starlight seemed interesting for Xander. He wasn't sure of the details, so he checked for a bit the documents pertaining to it. After a while, he lost interest and he didn't care that much anymore, same as the biochemical weapon research his mom was doing.

After all, he already saw the absolute future for the next 2000 years. He just had to travel to a certain time in between 2000-3000 years to actually profit from his invested money in the banks. He then had to get physical augmentations available at that time period. No matter what his parents were involved into, it wouldn't cause any after-effects to the future of 2000 years from now. Most likely, it would be 20 to 200 years at most.

For example, the biochemical weapon? Although Eta would use it to assassinate figures that threaten the sovereignty of the country for the next 30 years, another superpower country, Nema, managed to discover its existence and publicized it to the world, causing a frenzy of negative public opinion towards the government of Eta to surface. Even a certain percentage of Eta's population were aghast about it.

After a few years it was revealed, a vaccine was produced, rendering the biochemical weapon useless. Anyway, it had a small effect amongst the real top echelons, and was only quite loud to those below Mythic class.

Project: Starlight was the same; it ended around 200 years in the future. That's because they focused on creating weapons and armor that would allow a mythic or higher magician to fight in space as easily as fighting on the planet surface, thus making survival easier. They had also planned to use it to colonize underdeveloped planets, as well as slay things that threaten them in space easily.

Although they succeeded, it was just that the materials they used were so expensive! It was to the point that two of the vital component metals were completely depleted. In the end, they were only able to produce 20 sets of armor and weaponry, and due to low production, the funding was stopped and the project abandoned.

In fact, another issue that bugged them was that their speed was too subpar, not even reaching the standard of a space-traveling Demigod magician.

Time continued to pass by.

Xander during this brief period of time, he continued to self-study as well as replicate the raw materials that he had. He deposited the money he got from selling into a different bank account from one he was going to open 2000 years from now, planning to make it as his secondary account. When he sold another batch of raw priceless materials, he earned a staggering amount of 300 million Etas.

For his primary account, he had already calculated the amount of Etas he would get as long as he didn't touch that account, which was around 141 octillion after 2000 years, and when converted to the universal currency of the planet, it would result to 1.41 octillion.

Eteria, 2057, July

Time passed by quickly. Only a month was left before Xander had to begin his college life. Xander had already reached Elite-4 rank, just a bit further from Elite-5. He hadn't selected any spells to take in for his fourth magic seed, and decided to do so later.

With the money he had earned, he decided to move out of his parents' home and bought one closer to school, around 5 minutes walking distance. The villa's price was quite high, around 1.5 million Etas.

Of course, concerning the money, the lie he told them was that he was investing in the stock market and was easily able to get quick returns. His parents were both surprised, and in the end, agreed to their son's decision but sent him 3 bodyguards, and 2 housemaids to prepare for his daily necessities. At this, Xander haplessly agreed; after all, they were thinking of his safety.

After informing his parents, he already prepared his items and personal belongings into a luggage. Of course, this luggage wasn't a simple one, but was modified by him to have 50x more space, allowing him to place all his personal belongings into it.

Of course, his parents didn't know that it was like that and thought that the luggage only contained a few sets of clothes and some books. There was no magical energy fluctuations after all that they could detect from it. Xander exited his parents' house and booked for a car.

In less than 30 minutes, he was already at the front of his new house. His house was a typical, villa style mansion, with 2 floors and a garden plus a pool.

With his new spell, [Material Transformation], he was able to add small touches to the house. This was the very first Legendary spell that Xander was able to create with his abilities. This spell was quite handy, and even society-breaking if used to disrupt it. As long as Xander had a quantitative and qualitative understanding of any material, utilizing the elemental particles, he can easily modify the target material to anything he knows, or even fuse or combine certain qualities of several materials, removing their weaknesses by supplementation of other strengths.

Of course, if a regular magician were to use it, they would need to be at least a peak Mythic magician to cast it once, or risk dying in the process. Thankfully, with his power of space-time, he can easily command the lower-ranked elements and cast the spell without any issue.

He then added a basement which was to be his laboratory while studying in college. He reinforced the material of the walls and floors and ceiling of the basement, making it harder and more tensile than the strongest naturally-occurring material in this universe, which was Adamantium.

How did he even find out about this?

The demigods who successfully returned mentioned such metal being used in other inhabitable planets, and along with this information they brought other documents relating to extraterrestrial life. He wasn't surprised that there were other civilizations out there, as he already guessed it during that short time with that unknown god.

Xander had managed to retrieve highly-classified documents detailing on such materials, and utilized the parameters to create his own material. The material had both strong magical and physical properties, making it a good defense against spells, spirits, and well, physical weaponry.

He continued to create more modifications in the original blueprint of the house, such as creating a direct one-way spatial path from his room to the basement, and basement to the first floor. Additionally, he created sculptures where he imbued his magic signature in the basement, which means that if someone who is not him enters the basement, it would activate a spatial barrier + time acceleration of 5000 years targeting the cultivation level and biological processes of the one trespassing + creation of spatial rifts within that barrier. Basically, a hodgepodge of defense mechanisms that would ultimately block any intruders from entering. If those weren't enough to deter, the time it takes to halt them would be enough for him to destroy everything in the laboratory and leave, before setting off a miniature black hole, planet be damned.

He installed it for both the entrances and exits of the one-ways he made.

After 2 hours of modifying the house, he called for the guards and the maids hired by his parents inside the house.

The five people were lined up properly, awaiting his orders. Xander eyed them coolly. He had already received relevant information about these people.

Not surprisingly, they were from the military, which were assigned to his family. All of them had a cultivation ranging from Master-3 to Master-6. These people were one of the weakest teams assigned to them, and was instead ordered to protect him. It seems they could also be counted to protect the house if ever there was an emergency.

But for formalities sake, Xander asked them for their names, as he just couldn't reveal their military code and rank.

The three bodyguards were Alan, Peter, and John. The 2 maids were twins, named Rolly and Polly. Of course, these were just aliases. Xander didn't care much but begun to tell them the rules in the house.

"Number 1, never enter the basement. If you enter it without my consent or agreement, it is not my fault if you die due to the security measures I placed." He pointed at the inconspicuous door just behind the staircase that leads to the 2nd floor.

"Number 2, once I enter my room, do not bother me unless you need to call me for Breakfast, Lunch, or Dinner. Use this transmitter to notify me." Xander gestured them to follow to the second floor and showed the transmitter embedded on the door to his room. He showed them how it worked and required them to register their biometrics in it, to avoid the security measures from activating in the second floor, and killing them.

"Number 3, do not linger around in the 2nd floor too long. There are security measures in place to detect living organisms. There is no need to clean the 2nd floor as it automatically cleans itself, even the rooms."

"Last but not the least, since you are experts in your respective fields, I hope you can deal with any problems that may occur when I am busy in the basement or not in the house. The security lockdown measures placed in the house will only activate when all of you are dead. Hopefully it doesn't activate at all." Xander locked his eyes to each and every one of them, making them feel like their secrets where exposed, and their bodies where for all to see.

"Any questions?" Xander asked them, his voice authorative.
