MATTHEW
Three years passed, during this time I had learned how to interact with the people in Athens, though for the newcomers and tradesmen I'm still afraid to speak to them. I always think to myself: "what more is there in the world that can be explored?" But alas the thoughts of a grown man in the body of a 4 year old just doesn't match. Speaking of three years passing, in the next four months once I turn 5, I'll be getting a magic and sword potential inspection, as on a human's 5th year of life, their potential is shown, their lock unlocking for the first time, it should feel as if you were reborn. It'll be second time for me. I've discovered a book in my father's study, titled "Old Ones" it tells the tale of a prince who fought in a Great War to unite the kingdom of Hiraeth, what happens to him is never mentioned in the book, but on the back of this book were inscriptions similar to those of ancient Egyptian symbols, but were not, so I could, based on my current knowledge assume that this was cuneiform a language used by the Mesopotamians. My father is apparently an avid researcher in the old myths.
"Matthew! Call your father in to eat his meal!" My mother called.
"Alright!" I reply.
I run to get my father, who I see fixing the shelf on the wall outside the house. "Father, Mother says to come inside to eat."
"Alright." He replied.
Looking back I could see the shelf had a new layer of skin, as the old rotting skin had been shaved away revealing a smooth surface of wood. "Alright, now that smells like lamb, my favorite! Too bad it's too tough for you to eat right now Matthew."
"I'm fine with what I have." I jealously answer.
I had a soup with potatoes and braised beef inside, seasoned with a small amount of salt.
After I ate, night had already fallen, it being October had really changed how fast the day went by, even in this world. The stars were like twinkling jewels in the night sky, so unlike the world before where smog and ash covered the sky. I thought about how different the two worlds were, it was truly more of a difference than night and day. Walking through the meadows, with the firebugs singing, breathing in the cold breeze of air made me feel as if I was flying. I stayed for hours, wanting to savor the moment, until I was inevitably called in for the night, and had to sleep, I slept on the sheep's fleece, waiting for the day where my destiny would unfold. The potential of my life, even with favor from no one, I will still keep rising to the top of the world. That was the resolve I made that night, I assured my that this time, I would not waste my life, that I would not become who I was before, so that finally, I could be happy.
Thank you Asclepius, I am forever in your debt.
