"Ho? The new student is turning cocky is he?"
She told me with a sly smile as she looked down on me. Don't underestimate what you don't understand little girl.
"Are you underestimating your Joker's taste? He wouldn't have interest in a weakling such as you"
I used there previous conversation to my advantage and I spoke with a straight face though having the urge to smile at my win. The moment she had irritation on her face from my comment, she lost.
"Then come at me, senior,"
She raised her voice and I did as she asked. No potentials no nothing, just me and my physical abilities. I rushed her, bending low to make myself scarce. With an expressionless face I breathed a sigh at her slow reaction speed. Still, I'm impressed that she managed to get in an aimless kick with her reflexes. Impressive for a year 7. And she's not even the highest ace in the grade.
I dodged the leg then pulled, she fell, I angled my leg to hold her lower body down then with a hand at her throat and the other pinning her hands down, she was immobilised.
"I win,"
Her cheeks went red and she looked like she was about to cry. I was so confused.
'Kid, think about the position your holding her in'
Ding! I realised and I hastily got up and patted my cloths clean while pretending that nothing happened. Of course it was impossible as the whole class was watching.
"Dude, that was impressive,"
"Guess we've got our new ace,"
"From now on you introduce yourself as 7's ace of cups,"
They all explained. They acted as though we were the same age when there was a massive age gap.
Ding! Ding! Ding! I looked out of the window and I saw students going outside. I looked back in.
"Ace, you going outside or not?"
I have a feeling that people label others with status and not names.
I was the last one out of class. I paused as I was planning to make my way out with the flow. A stair case at the end of the hallway caught my attention. I looked at the group of children and noticed that none of them paid attention to me except for two people. I'm pretty sure that they were the knight and page. The king and queen's guards.
"Do you want to sit with the rest of the court."
"If you do you will be the guest,"
They came behind me.
"I'm good, those two can continue their reign,"
I told them and went. I listened to the people as they went out, they were conversing like normal people however they were saying things normal people would.
"You versing next next you got that 10 of cups?"
"But I want to fight the page!"
"You'd loose in an instance you arrogant ten,"
"You don't know that, who are you to talk when your a seven,"
It was all about placing and rank, this was all about getting stronger.
The knight and page when back to join the group, probably to accompany the court of this class. I went my own way and went up the staircase. It kept going up and up until I reached a door. I opened it without a second thought and a strong but cool breeze rushed at me. It was soothing and refreshing. I looked out and saw the blue horizon. The sun was up high and shining. Today was a cloudless day with cool breezes and sun that shine without delay. I was on the roof of the building. I looked around at the spacious area around me and found an area where a makeshift roof covered. Who else was here? Who built it? I looked around but there was no one there. I sat under the roof. From here I could see the horizon, the whole area and what was happening below me. There were fights going on all over the place. Some were petty and small, other got so big it involved groups of people all fighting at once. And some were just two people fighting but there was surrounding them.
I stayed up here for the rest of break and just oversaw the whole school. It was chaos, but it was calm.
Before I knew it the bell tolled and told of the end of break. Everyone obediently went back into class. I wonder if this was because of the joker.
I went back as well. I sat back in class in my spot since no one took it before.
"Joe, your late to class,"
The queen of the class said.
"Sorry queen,"
He said sarcastically, I looked back at the queen to see her face was one of disapproval. The king of the class then joined his queen. You could almost mistake them for a couple because of the strong chemistry they seemed to have. They must of been the king and queen for a while to have this level of mutual respect for each other.
"Eight of cups, remember your position and don't overstep your boundaries. "
He glared the boy named Joe. Joe had a look of thought. Probably because the ranks all moved with the fight that happened this morning and my fight with the ace.
"My king, let me handle this,"
The queen told the king without looking at him but glaring at Joe. The king stepped back and let her do her job.
I watched their exchange intently.
"You beat me and I'll let you off the hook, you can even take the spot of king! You loose and your going down to class of Swords and your prohibited to fight any battle for two weeks,"
She must of been pissed.
The Joe smiled at the opportunity since normally you'd have to been the knight and page before taking on the king or queen.
I then looked to the king since his position was the prize at the end of the battle. He calm and didn't seem to worry. He put his full trust in his queen.
"Then let's do this Queenie!"
He pounced out of eagerness. That was a mistake. The queen realised this as well. She promptly dodged and then timed a precise chop on his neck as he flew past her. With an Oof he landed on the ground. Impressive queen. What I don't understand is why she didn't challenge the ace from before. Talking about the ace she was at the other side of the room glaring at me. She's been very quiet since that fight.
The ex-ace was now the 10 of cups. She didn't look to happy about it.
The fight ended quickly with Joe on the ground and the queen walking away to join her king. The page then spoke.
"Well fought queen,"
She smiled at him.
"Get out!"
The knight shouted, I could see the fury in the knight's eyes as he told Joe to get lost. This class was very tight knit especially the court.
"No, he can stay. No more disrespect though,"
The queen said without looking at those two.
"Be grateful you ignorant b*stard."
The knight said as he then walked off to join the rest of the court.
Joe then started walking over to me for some reason. I looked him in the eye as he scowled at everything he looking at and that is now me.
"Hey gold eye. That's my seat,"
He growled out.
"I was never aware that we had assigned seat, would you be so kind as to tell me where mine is?"
He was sneering and glaring at me full on. I just looked at him.
"How should I know, get out of my seat."
The whole class was whispering and it was probably about us.
"Queen of cups, can I ask you a question,"
I said over the whispers.
"Yes?"
"Do we have assigned seats?"
"No,"
"Thank you,"
I looked back at Joe's face. Veins were bulging on his forehead from the rage. This was getting exciting.
"Well, there you have it, this seat was taken by me today so you better go and find another,"
He gritted his teeth.
"Get out of my seat scum! I don't care if your older,"
He was angry for sure because after he said that he sent a fist flying towards my face. I grabbed it. He looked at me in surprise. I then twisted it in a way that would hurt, bad. Curtesy of the old man. Thanks!
(Old man: now you regret not coming for all those years! Michael you better come back you hear me? Aiya I'm getting to old for this)
"Ahhh,"
He shouted at the pain. He looked at me with wide eyes.
"You weren't here when it happened but I'll tell you because I'm nice,"
He kept silent.
"Hi, I'm the 7's Ace of Cups,"
