Osric got up and all of a sudden handcuffs appears but they did not have a chain. They were thick and looked strong. Osric took them willingly and did not pay attention as they clamped on to his wrist. Then two chains, one from each, appeared and they floated towards me. There was still a little distance but they were just there, waiting, floating, with a darker glow around them. I looked to Osric and he stared right back with those icy blue eyes of his. I grabbed the two chains with one hand and they then shattered. I was so confused so I let go in an instant and flinched at the sharp sound of shattering glass.
He continued to looked at me. I turned around and walked indoors. Closing the door behind me I realised how late it was, the sun was setting into its orange bed and the sky was saying a somber farewell as it began to dissolve into darkness. I turned around and walked in to see Elijah at the dining table doing some paperwork. He looked up at me as he noticed me walk in.
"You sure took your time,"
He said turning around his chair to face me.
"I got a demon as asked,"
"Name?"
He said as he looked at Osric who stood behind me.
"Osric,"
He said in a calm, emotionless voice.
"Nice to meet you, I'm Elijah, your master's older brother."
He stuck a hand out and Osric shook it with a blank face. Without saying a word, the greeting broke off.
"Alister, Lucius, come meet my brother's contracted demon,"
He said with a smile. All of a sudden it was like two comets shot down and landed in front of me with no sound at all. It was a grey flash and I couldn't see them until a second after they landed. Alister and Lucius were facing Elijah on one knee, one hand across the chest and the other was a fist on the floor.
They stood up simultaneously to see Osric. Their eyes went wide and they were about to do something but I don't know what because when they were going to do it I felt killing intent from behind me. They instantly stood up straight and were stiff.
"Sir, pleasure you meet you,"
They said at the same time with forced tones. I found it very confusing and Elijah as well from his furrowed brows. The killing intent faded and I turned to see Osric nod at the two demons' greeting. Well that was awkward.
"I'll let you demons get acquainted, I'm going to have a chat to my little brother next door,"
Elijah announced as he opened the door and waited for me to join him.
"What was that about?"
He straight up asked me.
"I'm in the dark for this as well,"
We both thought for a while before he spoke up.
"What place is he, it's possible that he's a high ranker and those two know him."
I nodded at his plausible explanation.
"And maybe they were going to bow to him but he told them not to with his killing intent, it matches up,"
"If the palace guards feel the need to bow to him then how high ranked is he?"
"It might not be a bow, it might of been a greeting of sorts,"
Elijah nodded. We continued back and forth like this for a while, building on theories and new ideas. We reached a conclusion that it had to do with his rank or personnel life, it was a definite that they knew each other. With this conclusion we reached after eliminating other possibilities we went back into the other room ready to interrogate because one thing that me and my brother have with each other is a need for answers.
"How did your meeting go,"
Elijah announced as he closed the door behind him after letting me in. The walls were sound proof so I didn't hear what they talked about if they did talk that is. We walked into the the scenes of them just standing in the positions they were in before.
"It was fine,"
Alister said, Osric remained silent with that neutral expression of his.
"Will you need us for anything else?"
Lucius asked Elijah and he shook his head indicating a no. They both disappear like how they came, two comets, grey flashes.
Osric stood there unmoving and silent. I went to go stand in front of him and faced him. He looked at me with cold eyes.
"What did you think of the Palisade brothers?"
I couldn't voice the question, I felt like I didn't want to so I replaced it. It was weird. I just felt as if I could ask it.
"They were good demons,"
Was all he said. I wonder what he has against talking now.
I looked back and Elijah's eyes were waiting for me to asked the question, but I just couldn't. After a silence m, Elijah got the message.
"What rank demon are you?"
Osric then looked at Elijah and I thought the temperature of the room dropped by a few Celsius.
"What does it matter to you human?"
Seems he's reluctant as well.
"I'm curious as well,"
I told him. My eyes turned red at the temperature change and I saw his aura. It was dark and black just like his blood but it was not as pure, it was all messed up but that mess was powerful. I felt overwhelmed by it and I covered my eyes with my hands and subconsciously stood rigid with all muscles tensed.
I kept my own under checks so it wouldn't turn out like before. It was hard as that was also a subconscious thing I'd do.
He put a hand on my shoulder and forcefully turned me around.
"I'll tell you when the time is right,"
I gritted my teeth at the choice of words, time, once again time. It's the worst thing to wait for.
I gave up on interrogating him after that and decided to leave it at that. My brother as well, I wish I would of shown him his aura back then, he would of understood why I did what I did back then.
"We will be leaving now, thank you for having us,"
I said as I walked out the door and put onto the concrete pathway, lit up by the night lamps which stand tall and strong on the side of the roads, warding away the darkness.
