'Jack! ', the old man called out the boy, 'Come upstairs. I wanna show you something.'
Jack Freadson left his dinner unfinished and hurried upstairs.
'Eat your dinner first, Jack', said his mother.
'Oh come on mum, dinner isn't more important than getting utterly amazed on a night when you are upset with your history grades.'
But Jack didn't know that it would be the last time his grandpa would amaze him.
He reached the old- fashioned sliding door that opened up to a valley of secrets, for his grandpa knew secrets more than the hairs on his head. He had his room full of strange objects. His room's walls were drawn over with maps and complex astronomical arrangements.
Jack slided the door aside. The room looked the same as it always did. Illuminated with warm white lamps. Rows of shelves laiden with the peculiar objects and ancient books.
Grandpa was standing in front as always, with warm eyes and an encouraging beam. But Jack already started to feel that something bad was going to happen.....
