I was stared at by two pairs of eyes. It was too weird to stand among three guys in their home. Seeing me coming out of Prakash's room, the two other guys out, sitting on the couch jumped in surprise. I was mistaken for a ghost maybe. I smiled at them in confusion. I recalled the story I had created with Prakash before coming out of the room. I really wanted to go back home, I couldn't imagine myself staying there. I started to blame God for this.
"This is Sita." Prakash introduced me to his friends, "She is gonna stay here for a while." his friends' eyes widened.
"Thomas and Angad" he pointed out a guy who looked like a school student to me and the other guy was really handsome. Yes, that was their first impression. It would be a lie if I say, I am not a sucker for good looking guys. Thomas seemed easy to be friends with. He had that good vibes of a child. But I shouldn't really judge a book by its cover for sure. When I looked at Prakash, he was almost frowning at me and then I realized I was staring at his friends for a while now.
Thomas welcomed me and Angad just said a hello. Angad elbowed Prakash teasingly and Thomas winked and then they left. I was standing there looking perplexed without knowing that there was more to it. A girl rushed out of a room, she reached Angad to hug him. Then releasing him, she found me standing there confused.
"She is a guest of Prakash..." Angad informed her.
"Hi! I am Swara." She seemed like she was staying there and I was sure that she was Angad's gf. I also hoped that I was wrong about it.
"I'm Sita." I smiled.
"She is my gf." My guess was right. She was Angad's girlfriend. "She sometimes comes over and stays here." He announced. It was too bad that the handsome guy was already taken.
"Prakash! It is a surprise man!" Swara exclaimed. It took some time for me to understand that they had mistaken me for Prakash's girlfriend.
"It is nothing like you think. She is cornered right now and I'm just helping her as a friend." Swara nodded as Prakash explained.
"Aww!! It's too bad that it is not what I guessed. Anyways, if you need any help, you can call me anytime, Sita."
"Thank you." I could tell that we were going to become thick friends. She insisted I drop formalities and treat her as a friend.
"What will you do all day?" Prakash asked as soon as we entered his room.
I had no idea what I should do. In fact, it was too sudden for me to plan anything. I also had work in my place and I had been attending classes daily to crack government exams. Now, I didn't have to go to that stressful routine. I wanted to stay home all day and do nothing for a long time. So, this is the chance.
"I am just gonna do nothing."
"If I am not wrong, you have a job, right?" he even remembered that I had a job.
"Yes. Somehow, I am glad that I escaped that vicious cycle of my life. Urghh!!!"
"Don't cry when you get fired." just when I tasted a tiny bit of relief, he had to say that.
Then I realized that practically, I shouldn't be glad about it, I should be begging the blood-sucking manager for a few days leave. I started complaining about how insensitive our manager was.
"Can I borrow your laptop?" I pointed out the laptop kept in the corner of the room.
"You can use my phone." he leaned back to take his phone and handed it to me.
"Do you have some private stuff in your laptop, uh???" I teased him.
He then snatched his phone from my hand and said, "I don't care if you're fired."
"I'm sorry! Look! You can tease me in return but not this." it was my mistake to pull his leg at the wrong time.
He took my hand, buried his phone in it and disappeared into the bathroom.
I emerged to click the mail icon before the phone screen get locked, I entered my mail id, then password and 'BANG' it hit my head hard when I saw that I had to enter the OTP which was sent to my phone. I said to myself "It's okay."
I threw myself into the bed and lay there staring at nothing until Prakash asked me, "Are you done?"
"Yes, I'm done. I am gonna be fired."
