As soon as they got the permission, they didn't stay in the village to sightsee further since there weren't any pleasing things to see at all. As they headed to the location where the chief told them to look, they stumbled upon the Empire's camp base. It was located near the forest where most of the herbs they were looking for can be found.
"Do you think the herbs are fine?" Athena asked worriedly as they were so close into the battlefield.
"I'm sure they are fine," Lirius assured her since the forest doesn't look that damaged at all.
As hey check the situation of the camp. They were able to easily pass by without anyone questioning them at all who they were. It was obvious as to why the people weren't looking at them, for they were all in pain from their own wounds that haven't been treated. The scene was even worse than the village for the smell was ghastly.
"Guess the Empire is losing then..." She said without showing any sign of emotions of sadness or joy about the situation. For, she couldn't be sad nor happy when it comes to the Empire. The pain they caused she has made her heart turn to stone towards them.
"It's obvious they'll lose in the first place. The fact they have less supplies and they aren't familiar with the climate makes things harder for the men who aren't used to this treacherous icy wind. That by sitting there for a few minutes, you'll soon freeze almost to death. Whilst the barbar…" He paused when he noticed the girl frowning at him, "I mean the people of Thirian Kingdom are used to this climate. And, let's not forget what's running in their veins. May it be a myth or old tales."
...That's right, it is said that people of Thirian Kingdom are descendants of giants. Well, for me a giant would mean as tall as trees, but that would be impossible. But, as per what Lirius just said, they might have a giant's characteristic in them, such as; Being tall compare to any human in the empire or elsewhere, they have more resistance to any climate may it be hot or call, they have insane human strength that they can easily break a log with their bare hands, and what's even more amazing is the fact almost all of them possess an aura. Even a toddler will start manifesting its aura. As to why, who knows… No one has ever been able to understand the people of the Thirian Kingdom.
Lirius continues to give his opinion about the war the Empire started against Thirian Kingdom. "To be frank, it's as if the Empire has sent them to their graves. It's more likely that snakes plan…"
Athena said nothing, but she does have this small feeling that this has something to do with the Queen again.
They both continue to examine the camp base, as they almost reach the border of the camp and the battlefield, it seems no one really didn't notice them at all since they have passed by quite a few soldiers yet not a single one stopped them.
...Why did the Empire decide to start a war against Thirian Kingdom anyway. Thirian Kingdom posed no threat towards the Empire at all. The people of Thirian Kingdom don't even bother venturing out of their own lands. So, why did a war start between them, for what purpose?
Athena continued to observe the situation and pondered what the reason for the war. It bothered her greatly as she felt awful for the soldiers who were fighting for a war with no reason at all. She only glimpses of them, but she can see that they were all on the brink of death. Whilst others slowly dying from the pain they were feeling.
At that very moment, things couldn't have gone worse for the people of the Empire. The loud sound of the horn brought everyone in panic as they started wondering what was happening. For the sound was something not pleasing to them at all, it was a sign that either one of the commanders has passed or that they are about to lose.
The entire camp was in an uproar as they all gathered in panic to the gate. They all looked lost and in pain, as they all felt hopeless.
"We're all going to die."
"Why were we sent here in the first place."
"What was the Empire thinking?"
"I don't even know what the Thirian people have done against us."
Lirius closely watched as the girl walked steadily towards the gate. He closely followed her without saying a word, nor stopping her from what she was doing.
Athena saw the soldiers all wounded and running towards the camp. She didn't say a word, nor ask what was going on, but quietly and calmly observed what their next course of action was.
"Everyone, prepare to aid them."
"Archers, get ready."
"Gather all the Healer, prepare to aid the wounded."
"Everyone, prepare for combat!"
As the soldier listened and followed the camp's commanders order, they soon were transformed into a fighting machine. Despite all the fears they were feeling inside, they all buried it as they went to do their duties.
Whilst the soldiers were all preparing to go, some of the soldiers had finally noticed Lirius and Athena's presence. The two were just standing a few distance from the gate yet it seems they didn't notice them at all.
"Who are they?"
"What are they doing here?"
"Isn't that a Twilight Wolf with them?"
"Could they be sent by the Empire?"
Athena watches as the soldiers headed out to the battlefield of death. She looked up the sky and noticed from afar the arrows that were flying towards the soldiers. She looked away as she didn't want to see the horrible scene to follow.
"They won't make it in time." She declared, whilst slowly averting his gaze from the arrow and back to the camp's situation.
"AH!"
"HELP!"
It bothered the girl as she heard the scream of me who didn't make it. She didn't want to bother about them since they were part of the empire that threatened her life and the previous owner's life. Not a single one of them pitied her and showed mercy, each one of them dare send different methods of killing her. May it be an assassin or poisoning her through her maid's help.
"They deserve it." She muddled but felt a great pain by the words she was saying.
Arrows continue to fall from the sky like raindrops. The soldiers scream was endless as the arrows were infuse with magic bring more pain than death to them.
Lirius did not move at all, since he really couldn't care what's to happen to them. He was not part of the empire nor is he related to any of them. His only priority is to keep the girl safe and make sure she doesn't get harm by what's happening. Whilst the girl turns her back from what was happening, he continues to watch the people dying at the hand of the people they've bothered.
The fact Thirian Kingdom was living a peaceful life, they just had to come and bother them without even knowing the true cause of this war.
