Chapter 39 - MASTER LIRIUS: PART V

What have I done? Did, I-

Lirius slowly opened his eyes, his whole body was numb and he felt his chest in pain as if it received a strong blow. When his eyes opened, he was blinded by the bright light, making it impossible to clearly see. Due to his inability to clearly see, he could only roughly visualize the silhouette in front of him. His right hand reached over to touch what was in front and when his hand landed on the soft, warm skin, his emotions got the better of him as he shed a single tear.

"Thank God, you're alive."

Athena was sat next to the man as she looked down at him and smiled. She reached out her hand to the man's hand, which was on her cheeks and replied, "Lirius, good morning."

With the help of the girl, Lirius sat down in front of the girl and started examining her. He checked her temperature, her pulse, to see if she was indeed real and not a dream. "Am I, am I dead too…"

Hearing the man's words made the girl laughed. She couldn't believe that someone like Lirius would turn into such a fool. She found him so adorable and responded: "Then, does that mean we're both in heaven? Does heaven, even exist?"

"Well, if heaven means being with you then…" Lirius sense that he was indeed alive, when he felt the ground somehow wet. He looked at the girl all shocked as he quickly grabs her into a tightly embraced. "Athena, I-I'm sorry, wha-what I did was not meant to hurt you, nor did I ever…"

"Lirius, it's fine."

"No, it's not. I thought, to think I ha-have almost killed you."

Athena locked her arms around the man, and patted his back to comfort him, "It's fine, I'm alive thanks to you. I'm sorry, I never told you my body was still not ready and that it..."

"It doesn't matter, as long as you're fine."

Lirius pushed the girl aside as he gazed into her, he noticed something different about the girl's appearance. "Your hair?"

"I noticed it as well when I woke up." Athena grabs the strain of silver-white hair.

"It's beautiful." Lirius smiled as he grabbed the strand of hair and kissed it.

'Lirius did you hit your head or something? Why did you have to do something like this? Darn it! I feel like my heart is about to explode again.'

Athena grabbed her hair away from Lirius' hand, as she quickly stood up to avoid Lirius from noticing her flushed face. "We should go check on Serfred."

'Ah- he's gonna kill me once he wakes up. I did blast him away, technically I almost killed him. Whatever, it's because he's too weak.' Lirius thought as he found it shocking last night when the man was easily knocked out by a level one wind spell.

"Lirius, hurry up." Athena turned around wondering why the man was still on the ground and what he could be thinking of.

When they saw the man who was still drifting off to rest, Lirius cast a water spell dropping a ball of water onto the man's face causing him to waken and scream.

"MY LADY!

Serfred was startled and looked lost. He noticed himself all soaked as he looked around wondering what happened.

Athena: "Good morning."

Lirius: "Get up you idiot."

Serfred was dumbfounded to see the two smiling at him. He ponders if he was seeing things. He then recalled what happened last night… 'That idiot Lirius, he must have killed me. He must have died as well and now we're all in heaven. Yeah, that's just to explain all of this. That b*stard would not be smiling and be happy to see me.'

"Serfred, get up already. I'm hungry..."

Serfred was taken aback hearing the girl's voice again, he reached his hand to grab the girl's hand. When he felt a pulse and warmth in her palm he cried. "You're alive, that idiot really did it."

"Who are you calling an idiot!?" Lirius frowned, glaring at Serfred disappointed that he expected him to fail. How he wished he had just killed him last night.

"You idiot, why did you blast me away!" Serfred recalled what happened as he got up and grabbed the man by the collar.

"Because you were stupid enough to kill yourself! I told you to stay away from the circle, yet you dare step inside! You're the idiot, if you step in, not only will you be killing yourself, but all of us.!" Lirius yelled furiously that everything almost went wrong because of Serfred.

"..."

Serfred was speechless as he scratched his head, "Anyway, well done." He patted the man on the shoulder to congratulate him and turned his attention to the girl. "My Lady, let's go. I'm hungry... Lirius hurry up and cook for us."

"Are you even listening to me? Hey, you!!! Don't you dare walk away from me..." Lirius screamed, seeing Serfred ignoring him as he walked back inside the manor.

Lirius was started when the girl grabbed hold of his arms, he looked down to face the girl. "Lirius, thank you for saving my life again."

"Your welcome."

Lirius kissed the girl on the forehead, leaving the girl to be taken aback as she all frozen on the spot, flustered by what just happened.

Lirius smiles cheekily as he walks ahead catching up with Serfred. They both turn around when they notice the girl has not moved a single step from the same spot.

Lirius: "Tina, let's go home."

Serfred: "My Lady, hurry up."

Athena smiled delightfully at what she was seeing, she felt so warm inside. She clamped her hands together as she put it towards her chest.

"Thank you."

The girl ran towards the two men as she beamed as bright as the rising sun behind them.

Whilst the two continued to gaze upon the girl, they noticed that the plants and trees that used to be dead soon turned green and leaves started appearing on the trees. Despite the land was already filled with Lumineux, it seems after what happened last night, it seems there are more than before.

"Not bad, who would have thought I'd worked."

"You think too lowly of me, I was my master top student you know."

"Hmm, well then. Master Lirius, shall we head inside. You are great and talented, so do prepare us a very nutritious meal."

"Why you-" Lirius express such an annoyed look towards the man, but deep inside, he was laughing and happy that all of them survived the night.
