Sophie had kept the door open so that C could come in, so, when she lifted her head, she saw the person she most definitely did not want to see now. She composed herself and said sarcastically, "Oh? Mr. Atkins, what brings you here so early in the morning?"
Robert was surprised at her cold greeting. He didn't know what happened that day that she started acting coldly towards him. She even started calling him "Mr. Atkins". He absolutely couldn't tolerate it. So he tried to find a genuine reason to stay by her side and that was the project between Incoda Technologies and Scarlett Inc.
"Ms. Anderson, I hope you are well aware of the contract that we have and I'm here for that only."
"Oh?"
"Yes, and I hope you don't have a problem regarding me being here."
Sophie stared pointedly at him and said nothing. After a long while, someone knocked again.
"Come in Ruby. I was waiting for you."
"Mr. Atkins is here to meet you. He is here for the new project. As you are in charge of this project, please make sure there are no complaints.", she said with a smile.
Robert was stumped. He was about to open his mouth to refute, when Sophie placed the contract in front of him and highlighted a part of the text which clearly stated that Ruby would be in charge of the project and everyone has to report to her. All other negotiations and work will be handled by Ruby and him personally. He was excited to be a part of the project but he was frustrated now. He was going to leave when Sophie commented, "Mr. Atkins, have a nice day at work, and I absolutely wouldn't mind you being here at my company but I have a lot of work to do and Ms. Ruby is quite eligible to continue the partnership. Now, I hope you don't mind.", then she flashed a beautiful smile which did not reach her eyes.
Others could be fooled by her looks but he understood her well. Something was bothering her, or she would not be so cold towards him. He was frustrated. He discussed the plans with Ruby and came to the parking lot and punched his car hard, and a dent could be seen at the rear side of the car but, otherwise it was unharmed. He got into his car, started the ignition and drove away at full speed. His mind was still unsettled, so he called his younger brother over to the pub and sat in a inconspicuous corner and ordered a bottle of whiskey for himself.
When he was starting to get impatient, his brother Oliver appeared in a luxurious attire, seeing which he could only facepalm himself. 'Why does this fool love to attract attention wherever he goes?', he thought inwardly but said nothing.
Oliver plopped himself down on the couch and looked at his brother, who was clearly ignoring him. "You called me and now you are clearly ignoring me. This is not fair bro."
"Who asked you to bring so many flies along with you here?"
"Bro, they are here for my charm. You don't have that charm. Me, your younger brother will later teach you how to apply this charm. You will have more flies buzzing around you.", Oliver made an animated hand gesture as he spoke.
Robert's face became black as the bottom of a pot, as if he could already imagine that situation of flies buzzing around him. He felt disgusted and shivered. He already felt an annoying fly buzzing around him and he needed to swat that one out, but it has still some uses. As he thought about that person, the colder he grew. The waiters were scared out of their wits. Even Oliver who was sitting beside him and basking in the adoration of the numerous females, felt a chill run down his spine upon seeing his brother's face and shivered.
He managed to gather a lot of courage to say, "Bro, you are scaring everybody here."
After hearing his younger brother, Robert retracted his overwhelming aura and reverted back to normal as if nothing happened. Oliver, too, became serious and asked, "Bro, you called me so urgently. What's the matter?"
"It's nothing."
"Huh? Nothing?! How is that possible. If you don't have anything urgent, you wouldn't have called me. Spill it, bro."
"Why? Can't I ask my brother to come and have a drink with me in peace?"
"Bro, don't! Don't speak about peace. It gives me goosebumps upon hearing it from your mouth.", Oliver actually shivered in a dramatic way as he said that. 'Nobody could believe bro in this matter. Peace is actually a word which doesn't exist in his dictionary. Anyone who offended him, did not have a peaceful death and he actually talks about peace! Unbelievable!!', he thought but did not say out loud.
