Recently he had done nothing but bolt home whenever he returned, so he decided that this time he will be more civil. After all nothing would run away if he didnt rush home right? the manual wouldnt run, his possible immortality wouldnt run, the app wouldnt run. Nothing would run. By the time he realized he was already running home. So except him indeed nothing would run.
When he got home he saw a small pile of boxes being unpacked by Laura, they had the logo of the nearby convenience store so they were probably food items she bought in bulk, they werent too good on finances so the pile was small but still it was something. He sneaked up to her, by sneak I mean rush as fast as he could and just stuck the memory sticker on her forehead. This temporarily put her in a daze and after she got out of it she yelled at Alex for a while before calming down
"Sorry, I was just too excited, soooo how does it feel having perfect memory?"
"Brother, I remember that you owed me 2 cups of milkshake, I will expect them soon."
"And? Am I the only one excited here?"
Feeling betrayed he sulked.
"Brother, I have the immortal market too. Could you instead explain how you got the points required for such a thing?"
"Being as intelligent as me I realized a smartphone would be very well recieved by the Immortals"
"So you bought a futuristic smartphone, tried selling your old one and got more points than you thought you would. Understood"
"Not exactly like that but yes."
He did not wish to get into details as they were meaningless and possibly a crime. Laura brought up catalog for a memory related items and found the one which matched the one used on her.
"So exactly why did you spend these points on this particular item?"
"Well because I got an even better item!"
He told her about the earlier events and discussed the manual with her. Being untrusting as she was, she asked him to sell it instead of using it. Considering the item was transferred over the chat it couldnt have been bought from the app. Her reasoning was that he shouldnt blindly trust any weird manuals sent from unknown sources especially ones which clearly costed him more than he gained. She brought up the manual in the catalog and its description read.
["The dragon eating tiger manual allows one user to become as strong as a dragon eating tiger, with each successful ascension adding 2 dragons worth of power roughly 500 KG. Has a total of 100 levels after which one will morph into a tiger"]
"Brother please sell it to the app."
"Yes you are right, if there is something wrong with this manual we would not be able to handle it besides even if there is nothing wrong we still get points for it"
He scanned the manual but it gave an error as if it would refuse to accept anything from the app including messages. He then asked Laura to scan it out of curiosity and it still didnt work. Still to avoid taking risks he decided to let someone else practice it or sell it in real life once he had the ability to. Perhaps there is some mystical way to control someone through a manual because no one pays 10,000 points for an item they could get for 500, even if the manual didnt cost the immortal it still was something precious.
"Brother, if you could please buy a smartphone for me too"
He bought a smart phone for her but she decided not to sell her old one and instead tried out the main and sub device feature on her phone. She also saw that she had the ability to restrict the sub phone almost as if the app was hiring them as managers without pay, after all with such a feature who wouldnt start their own app empire using the marketplace itself when it was so convenient to?
"Laura one more thing I saw a main-sub device feature could you test it out? Its clear what the app expects of us but I have a slightly different plan."
She was already experimenting with it but Alex couldnt have possibly known that right?
"I am already experimenting with the features and its clear the app wants us to act as managers, but why. What does the app get out of all this"
Alex again realized he missed a few things and explained this part to her as well along with what he thinks the app wants, considering the feature they just discovered it seemed pretty obvious the app wished for unpaid help with supplies. He also explained his plan to use the app to gain money but before he could finish Laura interrupted
"Wouldnt we be doing what it wants like that?"
"Sister sister sister, it seems you are not at my level yet, we will do something similar but very different, instead of giving the app the power to simply cut us off if we become unneeded, we become the sole suppliers, we will also be able to supply more. hike up prices and still get real world money. Its an absolute win!"
He explained the rest of her plan to her.
"I see in that case, let us buy a few things."
Laura and Alex spent a while buying and searching items and goods.
"Laura please buy a few security items. They will become absolutely necessary as well as some advanced computers and servers I will handle the bank accounts and financial access"
"Brother I think we should worry about that later for now lets learn how to make our own programs, we have enough security for now"
Infront of her was an item in the catalog
["Freemans coding and programming tutorial 400 Apts A old school programmers bible, can be used to learn how to use machine and Arvidge languages and how to use it to develop old school OS programs for OS such as Doors! Robots! and even Mburgers! yes from the old companies PP, doodle and Banana "]
For people from the future these OS would be pretty much outdated and hence this book isnt worth alot but its the perfect book for Alex and Laura after all what use is a language if you cant even compile it into machine code? (think of it as. the language computers understand. C++ and every other language is converted into it before execution) If you cant even develop any working apps or programs with it? (I am looking at you mansion in a post ragnarok world, yes messed with the name here too AN). Probably thats why it still costed 400Apts way more than security as to the duo it is worth that much.
