October just got to her door when her phone rang. She looked at her caller ID and frowned of who it was, thinking of how horrible this person was for leaving her behind last night.
She entered her room and after a long while of ringing, she decided to accept it.
"OCTOBER!" A screech sounded that was too loud for October's eardrum to take that made her stretch her hand that was holding her phone away from her ear. Can she even imagine how destructive her loud voice was?
"I'm sorry. I'm really sorry. Are you okay? Did you safely get home last night? Why didn't you answer your phone earlier? I was so worried that I almost gone hysterical. And then that news popped up which made me even more worried sick. But then you just have to ignore my texts and phone calls." October tucked her hair behind her ear as she listened to her friend's continuous prattling. She also checked her phone in passing and sure enough, there were 20 texts and 26 missed calls.
"I'm fine, Elise. Just calm down first." She said as she went straight to her room, tossed her bag, and flopped down on her bed while staring at her ceiling.
"But how can I? Especially when that news came out. Aren't you worried at all?" Elise was frustrated beyond words at how calm October was. She had just randomly skipped through some channels on TV while also dialing October's phone when a single news caught her attention.
At the sound of how Elise was so flustered and how she kept repeating on something about some news on TV, she cocked her brow and felt that something's quite not right.
"What news?" She asked, still sounding as apathetic as always, while massaging her temples on the process.
"Didn't you see the news?! The media is feasting some 'juicy' news about you!" Elise exclaimed in annoyance at how her friend's reaction is lacking as always which made her frustrated all the more. She bit her well-polished nail as she paced back and forth in her room.
Hearing Elise say that, her face frosted with a chilling gaze and pursed lips.
"What did it say?" she slowly closed her frosting eyes. She didn't know when it started. Why? How did it turn out like this? Was she always like that from the very beginning? Why didn't she noticed it?
And last night, how come she was there? Was it only just a coincidence that her stepmother was also there? No, that's not right. Is she tailing her? Or did someone tell her?
She sighed making Elise who heard her sigh explode again in annoyance.
"Hey! Are you even listening to me? News flash! The media was saying that the heiress of the Park Estate went out last night and had a one-night stand with a random man she picked up at the bar. There was also a picture of you leaving the hotel today with a glaring red patch on your shoulders. It was unnoticeable at first but the paparazzi had a close-up picture of you. So who is it? Was it true? Don't lie to me!" Elise was frustrated for her. She felt like she was a mother scolding her daughter for being naughty.
When her words slowly sank into her brain, October snapped her eyes open and sat abruptly from her bed. She was keeping a low profile and was always careful not to be targeted by the media. Most of her peers at work don't even know that she was related to the wealthy Park Family. Only a handful of people in Halo Company knows about her background, much less the media. Unless, someone tipped them.
She had to commend her stepmother for working fast and efficient. Her stepmother really did well.
Without noticing, she clenched her hand into fist till her knuckles already turned white from how tight it was.
She was living peacefully for years now, without even contacting them or even asking them for their money. She doesn't want to bother with them anymore and just get out from that family that she can barely call her home. Why can't they just let her be?!
"Lanna October Park! Are you even listening to me?! I'm worried about you but you're just there without even making a simple noise or any of that matter to let me know you're still there!" Hearing her being hysterical warmed October's heart. She was glad that she has her as one of her best friends.
"I'm listening. So don't worry about it and just let it go. That news will die down in a few days so just relax, take a deep breath, eat chocolates, and everything will be back in no time." October calmly coaxed her friend, but deep down, she was far from calm.
"Humph! It's not easy. Seriously, was it true? Who was it?" Elise asked probingly which led for October's eyes to flash a glint of suspicion but shook her head convincing herself that what she's thinking was impossible.
"Just forget about it." Her tone sounded colder making Elise's blood turn cold. Her eyes shown a conflicted gaze.
October doesn't want to talk about Lexus, to think about him and to remember him. She's scared for she felt that what happened was way too fast, so fast that she couldn't stop for a breather. It was terrifying.
One night, one morning. Just that. It was so damn short that she felt a flutter in the stomach, making her frown in worry.
Determination flashed in her eyes as she got up to walk into cabinet and change her clothes, not wanting to see anything that'll make her remember him.
After a few minutes, she wore some over-sized rose-colored shirt and comfy shorts. She then grabbed the white dress and undergarments and went to wash it herself. After that, she went to her kitchen to check if there were still some leftover food or ingredients for her to use later for lunch.
A while later, she bundled her hair with the use of a pencil and went to start cleaning her apartment, her usual routine on weekends.
And just like that, she spent the rest of her weekend cooped up in her apartment comfortably and leisurely.
Meanwhile, a few moments after October left...
Bathing under the glaring sun, a tall and slender silhouette can only be seen. Although it was just his shadow, it still showed his strong and wide shoulders, slender arms with hands tucked on his pocket, and long sturdy legs, enough to enchant people regardless of their gender and age.
