"Mhmm..." Zhen Wei moaned as she shifted her body to her other side and snuggled herself underneath the quilt. Still feeling drowsy, she yawned loudly as she stretched out her limbs, her eyes slightly tearing up. She slowly opened her eyes and adjusted her vision of her surroundings. Her eyes gradually widened in disbelief as she automatically sat up from the bed. Zhen Wei quickly looked beneath the quilt and saw herself wearing an awfully unfamiliar guy's shirt. Her hands subconsciously touched her mounds and her lower part when she felt she was no longer wearing her undies. Her face turned crimson as realization finally kicked in.
"It wasn't a dream, ahhhhhh!" She shouted on top of her lungs. Memories of last night's scenario flashed back on her mind. Embarrassment was completely displayed on her face as she turned scarlet after remembering everything in detail.
As for Li Shen, he had already woken up a long time ago. He hadn't taken a proper sleep because of what happened. His eyebrows were scrunched as he read the full report of yesterday's incident. His eyes flew towards the guest room's door as he heard it open. He chuckled as he saw Zhen Wei trying to peek outside her room. He placed down the documents on the table and took a sip from his steaming coffee.
"No need to hide, come here quickly." He said in a casual tone as his spirit enlivened.
Zhen Wei's eyes shifted in a split second when she heard a deep voice. Upon seeing Li Shen's face, she coughed as she felt a sudden contraction on her throat.
He helplessly smiled at her as he walked in front of her. "Am I that scary?" He said as he emitted a slight laugh. He held her hand delicately as he led her towards the dining table. Li Shen pulled a chair and made her sit. "Wait, I'll just reheat the soup." He left her side and turned the burner on as he reheated the hangover soup he made for her earlier. As he was preparing, her eyes didn't leave his sight even for a second. She wanted to say something but she couldn't find her voice to talk to. After he was done, he served her a bowl of soup, a glass of warm water and sat back on his seat across her. "Go eat, I'm not that bad of a cook." He gave her a reassuring smile and urged her to eat breakfast.
She was quite hesitant but still obliged when she felt that her stomach would growl any second. She ate a small bite and found the soup that he made tasty. The warmth from the food enveloped her as she took another spoonful of food. She was too hungry that she quickly finished up the bowl of soup within a few minutes. Zhen Wei subconsciously pouted as she still felt hungry looking at the now-empty bowl in front of her. A smile crept onto his face as he saw her expression. Without saying anything, as if he knew what she was thinking, he took her empty bowl and refilled it. Her eyes lit up as she saw another bowl of soup in front of her. She happily indulged herself again in another serving of hangover soup. Seeing her lower her guard in front of him, Li Shen felt proud. Who would have expected her to be tamed by just cooking hangover soup?
"Eat slowly, it's still hot, you might burn yourself." He took a sip of his coffee again and watched her eat with a soft expression on his face.
Zhen Wei emptied the bowl and drank some water. Sighing in satisfaction, she couldn't help but burp. Her face once again turns red due to embarrassment as she avoided his gaze. She opened her mouth and thanked him.
"Thank you." She said in a rather small voice but just enough for him to hear.
Li Shen smiled. "Glad you enjoyed it."
After that, an awkward atmosphere slowly filled in the room. Zhen Wei realized that she didn't just sleep in a stranger's room, had a make-out session, wore his shirt, but also ate breakfast with him! She quickly felt horrified for acting impulsive. Her mind was an entire mess and she can't even find the right words to say. She was too busy racking up her brain to reason out that she didn't notice Li Shen called her. He had to call her twice before she jolted out from her own world. Li Shen finally caught her attention and gave off a warm smile.
"I want to properly introduce myself to you. I'm Li Shen." He reached out as her eyes dawned on his hand. She quite hesitated but still shook his hand because she didn't want to be rude after what she had done since yesterday.
"Be my wife."
Her eyes widened in shock as her mouth opened to form an 'O'.
"Excuse me, w-what did you just say?" Zhen Wei couldn't help but ask him to repeat what he just told her. Thinking maybe she just misheard him.
"Be my wife." Li Shen repeated the exact words he uttered just a while ago. His expression was serious as if he was trying to secure a deal with an international company. His face was too serious that she thought he was so handsome for a second but completely threw the thought aside because it wasn't the perfect time to fawn over the man in front of her.
"Are you joking? Because it's not funny at all!" She exclaimed in disbelief. Maybe this guy was just trying to pull a prank on her to get even with her.
"I'm serious, be my wife." He repeated the third time around as he took her hands with his. She immediately felt a shiver run down her spine as she felt his warm hands on hers. As if she was electrocuted. A faint blush crept on her cheeks.
"Why me?" She said in a soft voice unlike earlier. She was quite taken aback because his warmth slowly wrapped her entirely. Although she was confused, she can't bring it to herself to refute once again.
"Because it has to be you..."
As if on cue, she felt her heartbeat quicken when she heard his answer. She stared intently into his eyes, trying to find anything wrong with his actions but she can't seem to find any.
The guy in front of her wore a black long-sleeved shirt with the sleeves folded up to his elbows and the two buttons were undone, exposing his masculine bare chest. And her? Oh, she was wearing his shirt with nothing underneath. Her face turned crimson at the sight of a handsome man in front of her. 'How can he be so good-looking? It's even harder to decide because of this handsome human being!' Zhen Wei complained to herself.
"Fate has already delivered you to my doorstep. How can I not accept?"
Her heart skipped a beat hearing his words. She could not fully process what was happening to her completely. She felt she was floating on cloud nine and she didn't want to wake up from the harsh reality. She pinched her thigh using her free hand and immediately winced because of the pain. There, she knew she wasn't dreaming at all. Everything was too good to be true that it felt surreal.
