Chapter 8 - Integration. Attack. Karma.

"I'm bored again. I'm just watching this entire time. Nothing's happening. Heh, well, of course, nothing will happen. Until..."

"Ha! I got out! Finally. Days... or no. Maybe even a month has passed since. I thought I'd be immune from it. But, it seems like I'm not. I must find him now."

This feeling of Déjà vu is very strong. It's intense. It's painful. "AAAaaaa-"

"Snap out of it!"

I hear a voice. But it's probably just an auditory hallucination or something alone the line.

"Hmm? What was I doing? Was I sleeping? My head's fuzzy."

I remembered that I have to meet up with Maya. I looked at the clock and it seems like I overslept. Only 20 minutes remain before classes end. I rushed to get my things ready and took a quick bath. I check the clock and... look at that. I'm already late by 30 minutes. I put on my favorite shirt and pants. I am ready now. I ran swiftly over to the meeting place. I entered the 7/11 and she is nowhere to be found. I grab myself a drink and head out. It's already dark outside and I'm worried for her safety. Near the 7/11, there's a dark alley. I can hear faint noises. Sounds like someone's in trouble.

It's like a switch inside me has been flicked. I ran full speed to the direction of the sound. And there, on that dark alleyway, I see her. Maya. Someone's pointing a knife at her but she's resilient.

"Give me your purse!"

"No. I'm waiting for someone. When he sees this, I won't know what'll happen to you."

"Tsk. Empty threats are just that. Threats! Now. Hand it over!"

Maya must have seen me hiding. She gestures for me to get away. No fucking way! I can't. I'm the reason why this is happening. So... MOVE!

I rush at the guy. Footsteps echoing through the narrow pavement. I pick up my pace. Everything still hurts and my head aches.

I don't know what this guy wants with Maya. Money? Perhaps he wants to do something unnecessary to her. I wince at the thought and grit my teeth hard as I continue my charge.

Now, Maya broke from his grasp and runs towards me.

"Fuck!" the man exclaims. Swiftly changing the way he grips the knife. He's now holding it with two hands. Like pushing a stake through someone's heart. He's going for the kill.

I get in a close proximity to Maya and held her hand. I position her quickly behind me as I dragged her. She seems hurt but I couldn't care less. What's important is that she's sa-

I couldn't even complete my thoughts. I see the blade closing in on me at such a quick rate. There's definitely a lot of force behind this attack. It's like time slowed down for me. His quick attack now still.

"USE YOUR RIGHT HAND TO BLOCK THE ATTACK!"

It's as if a jolt ran across my whole body.

In a state of panic, confusion, and danger, I raised my right hand. Blocking the attack.

I see my hand getting slashed. Muscles breaking, tissues splitting apart. Bone and sinew parting as my hand couldn't resist the strike. The knife cuts through my arm and stops.

I couldn't feel anything. Like I was seeing a hallucination. But... !

"AAAAAAAAAHHHHHH"

The man screams his lungs out in pain. I see the same thing that happened to me. But now, it happened to him. I hear his bones crunching. It's exactly like that hallucination I had or whatever that was. No, that was definitely real. The details of my own hand splitting apart was very realistic. And now, It's happening to him. Just what the fuck is going on?

"Karma." I hear a voice. It's the same voice that told me to use my right hand. I stared at my right hand to see it in perfect condition. I was confused but unfazed. I gaze at the direction of the man that attacked us. But he's gone. I turn around, expecting to find the souce of the voice. But I couldn't see anyone.

I want to know what's going on.

But most importantly, I want to know how we're saved.

"The situation's under control."
