I looked at the waters of the ocean as I stood on the beach.
Avaya stood behind me, in human form but with a pair of wings still on her back.
[You want me... to handle this.]
She nodded. "I don't have time to handle the issues among the awakened of this region as I'm preparing to defend against the Lycan. So... you can do it. I'm sure a dragon can handle this."
I speechlessly stared at the fish standing on two scaly legs screaming at a deer made of moving coral.
Yes. Yes you read that right.
Well not quite a deer. It's coral that's take on a 4 legged form with long legs, making it like a horse or deer, but the coral extending from its head looks like antlers.
Also coral is extending like another set of antlers off its shoulder blades, and a 5th sprouting of coral makes a tail.
And the fish... has feathered wings coming off its back instead of a top fun like a normal fish?
But they're like... too small to fly, so it just looks silly as hell.
Avaya wants me to mediate the conflicts in her land... you know you could create an actual like. Organized force for this?
"They will never accept a third party's interference unless they prove their might. Such is the law of nature we all follow."
'...wait. Does that mean I have to beat up all the people who have issues and then force them to act productively?'
...
Why do I feel like this path leads to becoming a dragon-Hitler? All must do what I consider to be right, or they will disappear...
Well I guess I do have the power to do that honestly.
'Wait HOLY SHIT!? I ACTUALLY DO have that kind of power! The actual... wow. I am actually intimidated by my own capabilities!'
I shook away my errant thoughts and glided down from the rock I stood upon to the beach they were arguing on.
[Whats the issue here?] I pulled upon the brisk and clearly dominant tone and mindset I had gathered thanks to being a supervisor in my job... before I ended up being bedridden at least.
[Piss off Lycan!]
"..."
Okay why does EVERYONE think I'm a FUCKING WOLF?!
Lycans don't have wings! They don't have golden quills or horns!
My body is entirely wrong for what they've been described to look like!
A cold laugh came from the coral-deer. [Dumbass, clearly that isn't a Lycan.]
Thank you. At least someone has eyes.
[Clearly it's some form of dog or lower half breed that managed to awaken. If it's the first of its race to awaken then perhaps there isn't even a name for this mistake.]
Okay.
FUCK you.
Fuck BOTH of you.
You wanna know something? I can totally tell what kind of magic they have just by my mana sense if I pay attention.
Kinda wish I was more used to this sense so I didn't have to concentrate to understand the feelings and signals it sent to my brain.
Anyways... my point is that I know what elements they can use.
So I can plan. And if I know they're weak... I can HUMILIATE them!
I stretched my neck, and a small rumble began to emit from the sides of it as I voiced my dissatisfaction in a inhuman way, not a shake of my head or roll of the eyes, but a low growl reverberating through my boy at a high pitch, as well as my tail swishing up and down.
The fish, which kinda looked like a giant piranha with legs instead of fins on its side, turned to me. [Listen Mutt-]
"BA-BOOM!"
A massive lightning bolt slammed into his face and threw him into the sea.
Yeah. I bet an awakened of air and water would be really shocked at getting his ass kicked by lightning.
Dead silence reigned as the coral deer slowly turned to see a ball of indigo flames concentrating together between my jaws...
I wonder how a fire/water awakened would like to BURN?
[H-hey let's talk-]
[I am NOT A MUTT, you inferior PREY!]
For some reason the best insult I have is "prey". I think since the law of nature is what matters most to awakened beasts so far, being referred to as lower on the food chain probably stings a bit.
Oh and also-
"BOOOOOOOOM!"
The ocean surf flew into the air as it was blown away by the air waves released by the explosion of the fireball!
It blew up before it could hit the coral deer, throwing it into the sky and it slowly arced, trailing some smoke, before gracelessly falling into the sea.
I've gotten good at controlling how far the heat extends from my fire.
Super intense heat makes the air wave more intense, yet it filtered out harmlessly to the point where not even a speck of sand had been melted into glass!
Yeah. My fire is hot enough to instantly make sand into glass. I am that awesome. Bow to me mortals!
Ahem, I seem to have gone on a tangent.
[You know what? I was going to ask what was wrong and try to help, but fuck that and fuck the two of you. Make up and solve your problem within the next 2 minutes or I will NOT put safeguards to spare your lives the next time I released those attacks!]
There. Was that properly draconic behavior?
I just kicked their asses and showed I could kill them using their own elements!
I turned my neck. Well at the very least Avaya seems properly impressed.
Korven is more just acting like it's all normal.
He already knows how strong I am after all.
[F...fearsome predat-ow... Predator...] the fish swam out of the surf, it's legs pointed out to its sides and using the angled sharp edge along the front as the slicing end.
Held like that, it's more obvious those are fins with a joint and flattened end to work as feet if needed.
He bent his fins to work as feet again to bring himself up on land.
[This damned Kirvalith keeps intruding in my territory in the lagoon!] the flying fish complained.
The coral dear reared it's head, standing atop the water as though it were solid. [You ate my children!]
'Whoah what?' I took a double take on that one.
'No, yeah, that's what he said. What the hell?'
[You create hundreds of corals! You can't blame me for feeding on an unawakened prey! And you have HUNDREDS of seeds, yet none are awakened!]
'...I'm a little speechless...'
I narrowed my eyes, and a low rumble rings out as my neck vibrates in a show of aggression.
Hiding my own thoughts behind a fierce exterior, I have an ultimatum: [Either figure it out, or die.]
A shiver went through the two.
[It would be fine if my children evolved, but he keeps eating them before they can absorb enough power...]
The coral deer lamented in a mumble-mindspeak, and I narrowed my eyes at him.
You think being "quiet" means I won't understand you're trying to be cheeky?
[If your children can't protect themselves, and don't even have intelligence, then there's no need to act as though this walking fish has done something wrong; he has followed his nature.]
I snorted. [Become strong enough to protect them if you desire their survival. Don't expect rules to help you when they are made by selfish people stronger than you who can break them at any time.]
Hah! I bet I look cool right now, right? Right?
Who would call me cute now? Who dares to!
"...he's really kinda adorable with how serious and fierce he is with that appearance and size.
'...'
I wish I could take back my fusing with light magic that enhanced my senses.
Avaya... I know you muttered it under your breath, but did you have to say it aloud at all?
