Chereads / Enchanter Demon / Chapter 18 - Helpless And Injured

Chapter 18 - Helpless And Injured

Leiya was getting real worried now.

She was aware from her studies that demon's magic can manipulate fire. They have also a weapon that calls fort thunder and lightning. But she never expected it to be this destructive.

Mounds of soil and dirt are being punched from the ground. Trees are being torn apart and uprooted.

"Leiya, we have to escape. The demons have a massive weapons array on their ship. They are sending thunderclaps from long distances. My magic can't reach them. They are too far from the trees." Leiya heard the voice of her aunt, the lady enchantress in the wind.

"Yes, Lady mistress!" Leiya answered quickly and ran back beside her's aunt's unconscious body.

A few seconds later, Marikit Luywal Hati's eyes slowly opened and she suddenly coughed out blood.

"Lady mistress, You're injured." Leiya said. She hurriedly supported the swaying body of her aunt.

"No, I'm fine. This is just the effect of my sudden withdrawal from possessing the guardian spirit of the Greenmist." Let's go." The lady enchantress replied, holding off a cough.

"Yes, Lady mistress. Where are the others?" Leiya asked. She noticed that she and her aunt was alone in the the area.

"I already ordered them to rush back to the Royal city and report." The lady enchantress answered.

"Okey lady mistress, Let's head back to the carriages. You need to take a recovery potion before we leave." Leiya said while slowly supporting the unsteady frame of her aunt.

Explosive sounds countinued to wreck the forest. Trees were being torn apart, left and right.

"Wait, i will make a blocking force for us to cover our retreat." The lady enchantress stopped by the edge of the tree line.

Leiya watched as her aunt pulled a few dried plants from her robe. She then whispered a few enchanting spells to it. Almost a whole minute had past when the lady enchantress finally stood up. She pulled out a small dagger and made a small incision on her wrist. She let few of her blood to drop to the dried plants. The plants slowly stood up and grew in a rate visible to the eye.

"Activate." The Lady enchantress murmured.

Leiya recognized this enchantment spell. It was called the 'Undead Vines.' It was one of the most deadly spells in the enchanter's guild. It was not even included in her training. It is categorized as one of the few forbidden enchanting spells ever developed.

The Undead Vines will take full 5-minutes to be fully activated and its duration of effect depends on how much blood was fed into its roots.

Leiya saw that the amount of blood that her aunt fed it would sustain the Undead Vines up to 1 whole day.

The Undead Vines will attack any living creatures in 5-meter radius. That's what made it dangerous and made it to the list of forbidden spells. Once the undead vines were activated, it will attack anyone even the person that enchanted it.

Leiya saw that her aunt activated five of those undead vines and scattered it around the area where they came from.

"Let's go." Her aunt said, tugging at her.

Leiya hurried to the location of their hidden carriages and lifted the concealing prism.

"We do not need the whole carriage, just untie two horses. We need to get out of this place fast." The lady enchantress snapped at her as she was trying to prepare the whole carriage.

"Yes, lady mistress!" Leiya replied.

Soon the sound of the exploding thunder was already on them. Dirt and soil bursting around them.

Leiya and the lady enchantress of the Green fled the area.

'We were supposed to win this battle easily. What happened?' Leiya can't help but wonder.

"Lady mistress, i think this is the wrong way. Shouldn't we go back to the Royal city?" Leiya asked loudy. They where now riding a horse each. Her cloak was flapping loudly in the air.

"No. We should continue to head to the village. We will seek refuge there and wait for the Pintados to arrive. I think we just clashed with the emperor class demon back in the forest." Her aunt answered.

Leiya just nodded and didn't talk anymore.

She heard about the legendary stories of the emperor class demons. They are the Royalties of demon race and has magic that someone would not expect to even exist. Truly a magic bestowed by hell itself. Only warriors and enchanters blessed by the 'Adarna' bird has a chance to beat that demon. Even the Adarna bird was just also in the legends. Leiya didn't actually believe it existed.

'This is scary. I didn't expect my first battle will actually involve an emperor class demon.' Leiya can't help but shiver.

They were riding for just around 3 minutes when Leiya saw the ground before them exploded. Then the loud crashing sound of thunder echoed.

Leiya and her aunt were thrown from their horses and landed painfully on the ground.

Leiya's ears were ringing. Her aunt, the lady enchantress was shouting something at her but she can't hear anything. Her eyes were blurring.

"Leiya! Get up!"

A full minute had passed before Leiya could gather herself. Her favored hand was bleeding, she couldn't move it at all.

"Control your magic vein and stop your bleeding. You are injured." Her aunt was saying.

Leiya was in so much pain that she was only able to nod, fighting back her tears.

"My horse has been killed. Thank the heavens that you were not heavily injured. Get up. At this rate, the demons will catch up to us." Her aunt said again, supporting her to get on her feet.

"But.....we now only have....one horse." Leiya was still in the state of shock.

"It's better than walking. Come on.!" Her aunt ordered her.

Another loud thunder echoed in the air, waking Leiya fully from her daze.

They got on the horse again but the horse was already limping.

"Nevermind, we are going to walk afterall." Leiya heard her aunt said again.

They slowly entered the woods.

It took Leiya almost an hour to fully stop the bleeding in her arms. She then only noticed that her aunt was bleeding herself.

"Lady mistress, you are more injured than me." She said.

Her aunt's cloak was dyed red.

"I'm fine, my magic vein is more stable than yours. This blood in my cloak has already dried up long ago." Her aunt said.

Leiya nodded silently. 'She felt useless. She haven't done anything yet and her she was, already injured. She is just being a burden to her aunt.' she thought.

They stopped under a large tree after an hour of walk.

"Take some rest to recover yourself. i will activate a commucation bead. We will die if we don't recieve immediate help." Her aunt said, gesturing her to lay on the base of the tree.

Leiya nodded, she didn't answer. She was still in intense pain. She closed her eyes.

-----

On the Enchanter's Guild.

An old lady has her forehead held by her hands. She seemed to be suffering from a headache. She just dismissed a messenger guard a while ago.

She ordered the messenger guard to relay a message to the Lady enchantress of the Green. Only for the messenger guard to return back after a few minutes and told her that the lady enchantress of the Green had already left the guild earlier that morning.

"Having a noble enchanter under your command is really a headache." The old lady said to herself.

She is one of the five chiefs of the guild, Pasya Ahukad. She is more known as the cloud enchantress.

Pasya Ahukad was in deep thought when a small crystal in front of her started flashing in sharp crimson color.

"Speaking of the she-devil." She muttered and tapped the flashing crytal.

Pasya raised her eyebrows. "So, Did you realize now your mistake and decided to appologize through here....."

"Chief, cloud enchantress. We had just clashed with the demons. We haven't reached the village yet. I believe the emperor class demon in the Pintadose's report was accurate." The other person hurriedly said, cutting off her words.

On the other side of the communication prism, Pasya could see the unkempt state of the lady enchantress of the Green. Her cloak was dyied in her own blood. On the background was her personal apprentice, she seemed to be unconscious.

"Are you in a secure area right now?" Tell me the details!" Pasya stood from her seat.

This is a bad news. The lady enchantress of the Green was ranked as one of the strongest in wide-area offensive magic. The forest is her favored battle ground. She can even hold off multiple demons with just a single tree in her vicinity.

Pasya could see that the lady enchantress of the Green was in a forest right now. But it was obvious that she was in the defensive. To pin down the lady enchantress of the Green in her own game only meant that she encountered a really strong demon.

"I haven't personally clashed with the emperor class demon yet. But i believe that that demon was in their ship anchored in the shore nearby. This is the coordinatre."

Pasya took a quill and wrote down the coordinate and quickly handed it to a hand-assistant on her side.

The hand-assistant quickly traced the coordinate in the map hanging on the wall and Pasya found out that it was just about 20 kilometers away from them.

"The demons has a new weapon that i just encountered first time today. It was like a larger version of their weapons that the demons usually carry individually. This weapons were in their ship, and it can be moved around by wheel-carts." The lady enchantress of the Green continued.

"Enlarged version of their usual weapons?" Pasya repeated. Her face already dark.

"Yes, Chief enchantress. This weapons can summon thunders that can even rip my largest offensive tree apart in an instant. It can throw large projectiles that can punch a large whole in the ground. I personally think that even the stone walls of the Royal city won't be able to block it."

"Are you certain about your observation? Large projectiles that can punch a whole in the ground?" Pasya find it hard to believe.

"I, Marikit Luywal Hati swear own my own name that everything i said is true." The lady enchantress declared.

"If that's the case, if that same group of demons were the one that's going to attack the village, then we really need the Pintados this time." Pasya said.

"I affirm. We will continue and head to the village and wait for the Pintados to arrive there." The lady enchantress nodded on the other side.

Pasya was to give some more instructions when she heard a deafening sound coming from the other side of the communication prism. A thick dust covered her field of vision then the communication spell was abruptly terminated.

Was that the new kind of weapon the lady enchantress of the Green was refering to?

Pasya quickly attempted to establish the magic communication back but she failed. Something bad happened to the lady enchantress of the Green.

-----

Leiya was resting when she heard the loud crashing sound. She opened her eyes and was blown a few steps from her position by the shock wave.

"Lady mistress!" She shouted and tried to peer through the thick dust in the air.

She can hear a few shouts not far away from her. She doesn't recognize the language but her studies told her that it was the language of hell that is used by the demons.

She quickly crawled on the ground when another crashing sound echoed above her. She watched in shock as she saw the large tree she was resting on a few moments ago was torn in the middle.

Splinters of wood flew in all direction.

Leiya was starting to panic when she noticed her aunt's body lying on the ground.

She hurriedly went close to her aunt's side and activated a small crystal barrier.

The loud crashing sound and the exploding of trees continued for almost a minute, then is stopped.

Her barrier crystal has already lots of cracks in it. Leiya thought that another thunder and their shield we completely shatter this time.

She held her aunt's body and she found that she was still breathing. Her aunt was only unconcious.

Leiya prepared another barrier crystal in her hands and waited for the next thunder to come.

"I don't want to die here." Leiya thought to herself.

Her only chance of survival was to maintain this crystal barrier and hope that her aunt will wake up soon.

Leiya pulled a recovery potion from her cloak and infuse it with her magic vein. she then fed it to her unconcious aunt.

There is nothing she can do but hope for her aunt to wake up.
