Chapter 4 - The First Training

The past week has by far been the most confusing week of my entire life. Immortality, magic swords, some family inherited powers? All of this was driving me crazy and for the first time ever I was happy to be out of the house and in school. My walk to school was never lonely, I was always accompanied by my close friends Jeiki and Benji. Despite being close to them since I was a child I chose to hide my powers at least until I figure out their real purpose myself. My mind kept wondering off and I couldn't really pay attention to whatever was happening in the real world with all that was going. School was no different, I constantly found myself to be staring outside the window with my mind running all over the place. My friends didn't seem to care that much about what was going on with me but instead they were interested in perving over most girls in the class.

In no time flat, recess began and I couldn't even believe that time went that fast, I wondered off around school for some time with Jeiki and Benji who were still perving their asses off. Then it happened, a streak of light, beamed across my eyes and made me stop in my tracks, and not a moment later Genko and his asshole friend group showed up. "Where are you virgins off to?", he enquired. Jeiki and Benji couldn't make words out with their frightened faces, "nowhere", Benji responded. Genko and his gang surrounded us and closed in, I've honestly had enough and without much thought I screamed, "leave us be you bastards!". One of the boys came up to me and held me by my shirt, "you'll be sorry", he exclaimed. I didn't know what came over me, but I let out one heavy punch. For everyone's surprise, I knocked him out cold. Genko's eyes filled with surprise and so did Jeiki and Benji's. The first thing that came to my mind was that, this too was one of the powers. "You asshole!", he yelled and ran towards me, adrenaline pumped through my veins and the flight or fight kicked in. My hand swung towards him and his charge didn't help him at all. The impact sent him hurdling down the school yard. Everyone around was watching, eyes fixed on me, nobody moved a muscle. The rest of Genko"s gang fled the scene and I knew I should do that as well.

The walk back home brought up a lot of questions, and I just couldn't answer back. I replied by saying that I felt like I've had enough of their bullshit so I just went for the punch. Jeiki and Benji were both excited and celebrated the fact that Genko or anyone can't bully them again, I sighed and carried on with my walk home. Few minutes go by and I bid my goodbyes and carried on home by myself, my sister greeted me and said that our father wanted to see me. I was really not up for this right now but I just had too many questions and I figured that at least by this way I'll be able to clear a few of my doubts.

I met my father in the back yard, staring off at the misty hills of Seilis. He sensed my presence as if he were some ninja on a stealth mission, "You might be wondering about that sword, eh?", he questioned. "Yes, in fact I want to know how to summon it again.", I retorted. He let out a quiet laugh and turned around, he took a step forward and brought his hands together. A powerful bright aura formed around him and a sudden streak of light blurred my vision and brought forth a sword to the hands of my father. "Beautiful isn't it?". My eyes gleamed at the sword and I could feel its sheer power. My father smiled as he saw the expression on my face, "It's your turn now!", he exclaimed. I brought my hands together and focused real hard, but nothing happened. "Your blade represents power at its purest form, you need to think of an incident that enrages you!", my father yelled. My mind raced through one thought after the other, all the frustration and confusion coupled with the anger I had the past few days combined together and brought forth the formation of the blade. My hands felt as if they were burning, my eyes set of the form of the blade and I watched my father shed a tear as the blade brought itself to life. "They call it Riptide", I father exclaimed as he wiped the tear drop off his face. My father pointed his blade in my direction, "strike me!", he alleged. I ran at him with my blade held firm and let out my first strike, the sound of metal striking metal echoed through the hills. My father looked over at me and said, "Let's begin training!".
