Chapter 1 - That Unfortunate Night

|| PRESENT DAY ||

The cold winds tapped on Aleah's bedroom window as she lay in bed thinking back to that night everything turned bleak and worthless for her.

|| FLASHBACK TO 13 YEARS AGO ||

All was quiet that night, they had just finished dinner when her Father got a call from one of his work related friends. He had excused himself to only come back panicked and with fear evident in his eyes. He had whispered something to my Mother but because of his panicked state it wasn't very quiet. "Sarah, take the kids and hide in two basement! Their coming for their money" my Father whispered "they'll be here soon". My Mother had reacted straight away and had taken us to the basement, she had told my eldest sister to keep me up there and not to come out unless someone came to get us. If only that was what my sister did, maybe I wouldn't be so alone right now.

Before my mother left she kissed us both on the forehead and told us she loved us very much. That was the last thing she said to us before we heard the gunshots. Before I could react my sister had already cried out and ran towards the door screaming my mothers name. But it was to late because that would be the last time I saw Amelia alive as well.

I hid in the basement for what the police said was two days before they finally noticed me and my family were missing and came to find us. They said I was lucky the people who killed my family didn't find me or else I wouldn't be there with them. I had broken down at the mention of any of my family members because I knew that they were dead.

I was only seven when my family was taken away from me. I never saw the murderers that took their lives but I was going to find them no matter what it took and so when I find them, their gonna wish they had killed themselves instead of my family that night and that's a promise.
