Chapter 16 - And they lived happily ever after

Shaun woke up in the train with Justin. The train was coming to a halt, but none of them had died. Shaun looked around desperately, and that's when he found the completely beaten up remains of his parents. They... had actually cared about him... enough to go this far looking for him... and he had assumed no one cared about him. He fell on his knees in sorrow and took a few moments to weep over his lost parents.

After a few moments, the train stopped, and the doors opened to allow the beams of light to shine in. Even though Shaun was heartbroken, he took Justin's hand and walked out of the doors. In front of him was the same broken bridge, and the same massive forest. "Wow, I never knew how happy I'd be to see something other than a plain of grass" Justin said, as he slowly approached the ravine.

Shaun quickly grabbed Justin by the wrist just as he was about to walk over the edge. "Oh geez... thanks." They headed into the forest and followed the long forgotten rails back to civilization. As Shaun walked out, a police officer eyed him. "Hey! Are you Shaun White?" Shaun nodded. "We've been searching for you forever! I'm sorry to say but... your parents passed away from unknown circumstances about and hour ago... come with me." "Wait, what will happen to my friend?" Shaun asked. The policeman gave him a confused look. "Who? Maybe all that time alone made your confused... come all we will get this all sorted out.

As Shaun turned to Justin, he noticed he was gone. Had this all been a hallucination? No... it felt so real...

After about 3 days, Shaun was already back in school. Everyone didn't hate him now, they just gave him pitiful looks, not any better. But that's when he saw him... the boy who had talked to him... Justin? Shaun walked up to him, and he looked towards him. "Ah... it's you! Do I know you from somewhere?" Justin gave him a hinting wink. Guess that all actually happened.

With that, Shaun gave him a reassuring smile.

"Yeah, from over the rusty rails."
