Chereads / GREEN / Chapter 33 - 33 Crossing The Bridge

Chapter 33 - 33 Crossing The Bridge

Clarke and Paul raised their Swords in the sky and fire and ice powers exploded like fireworks.

It was so beautiful to watch. Raliz couldn't stop watching it.

" These are our good luck charms for you, Raliz." Paul said and he smiled. Raliz smiled back too.

" The only thing that we could do for you is this." Clarke pointed his finger at the bridge. Raliz squinted her eyes, she didn't know what Clarke meant.

Clarke sighed.

" We couldn't actually bring you back to life, it is impossible. But as Guardians of the Souls in the Bride of Fire and Ice, we will put you on a trial."

Paul said with a hint of seriousness of his tone. He kinda looked worried.

" The trial is... Walking across the bridge and gain the approval of the Gods."

They said all together but with hesitation. They clearly looked worried. They're worried because the chances are slim.

Raliz noticed their worried expression and she sighed.

" Is it dangerous?" She asked.

The two looked at Raliz.

" It's not dangerous..."

" It's just that the chances are slim." Paul said.

" There is no possible chances that the process will be successful. It is super risky but that is the only thing we could do."

Clarke and Paul explained everything that Raliz has to know. When they were done, Raliz's expression were still calm. Clarke and Paul were surprised. Raliz seemed fearless.

According to them, The Bridge of Fire and Ice is the way to heaven. At the end of the bridge is heaven.

Raliz only has to do is begged the heaven of an approval of having a second chance to live. If Raliz is lucky, she might be approved and if she isn't, it's goodbye for her.

The reason why Raliz could touched Clarke and Paul because their body as Guardians are sensitive towards soul. So, Raliz could easily touch their body without difficulties.

And there is also another reason, a soul couldn't use its powers but Raliz could. It is quite a puzzling for the Guardians how did Raliz do that.

They also explained about the Fire and Ice.

If there is heaven, there is also hell and the Purgatory.

Fire represents the hell, where sinful souls landed and suffer the hell's eternal fire for eternity.

Ice represents the Purgatory, where less sinful souls were thrown out. There they could repent their sins and suffer all kinds of trials. The Purgatory represents also hope.

If the soul did less sins when it was alive, he would face a trial that will repent its sins. And if it was successful, that soul could go to heaven without worries.

But those who had Seven Deadly Sins were thrown in hell, repenting forever at the eternal fire.

That's the reason why Clarke and Paul were worried. That might happen to Raliz if she stepped on that bridge.

The bridge would read Raliz's sins that she had done when she was alive and judged it. But if Raliz did many sins, the bridge will throw her out from either of the horrible places.

The Guardians only hoped that Raliz didn't made so many mistakes when she was alive.

" Raliz, we'll go with you. We will be with you until the end." Clarke said improving Raliz's confidence.

Raliz chose to walk across the bridge.

...

Serpent arrived at an old bridge.

Serpent could feel Raliz's soul but Serpent couldn't discern where Raliz is.

" Raliz! Do you hear me?!" Serpent shouted, hoping for a response but there wasn't.

" Raliz." Serpent called out Raliz name and this time it did something to its voice.

In another dimension of the place, Raliz heard Serpent's voice. She looked back and saw Serpent. But Serpent didn't seemed to know where Raliz at.

" Serpent! I'm here!" She called in response.

Serpent heard Raliz's voice and sighed in relief. Serpent could hear Raliz's voice and it knew she wasn't far.

Serpent knew where Raliz at.

Only souls could enter the dimension.

Fortunately, Serpent could also enter there. Why? Because Serpent is a spirit. Spirit was another word for soul.

Serpent close its eyes. And it opened it, it saw Raliz with two people who were wrapped with fire and ice.

Serpent recognized the two persons. Serpent was incredibly shocked. No souls could ever get close to these Legendary Guardians.

" What connection do they have with Raliz? Everything is different right now!"

Serpent flew towards Raliz.

" Serpent!" Raliz said in surprise.

Serpent just smiled at her. The Guardians looked at Serpent. They looked confused.

" What is this creature?" Paul said while fascinated.

" Serpent is my Spirit."

Paul and Clarke didn't understand what Raliz meant and it was obvious by their facial expressions.

" I'm a Spirit Summoner." After she said that, Paul and Clarke's face came into stand still. After a matter of time, they finally reacted.

" What?! You're a Spirit Summoner?!"

Their reaction were so funny that Raliz couldn't help but laughed.

" No wonder you could punched me in the face. You're stronger than I thought." Clarke said.

" Yeah. You've became so powerful!" Paul's eyes were brimming with excitement.

They recognized Raliz's Class for a bit until they got back to the real deal. Raliz would walk across the bridge.

Clarke and Paul also said before Raliz stepped onto the bridge that Raliz will only gain approval to live again but she wouldn't necessarily goes back to life.

Her body needs to be healthy and alive again so that her soul could get back in. But there's a strange force that kept her body from being able to live.

Raliz only hoped that everyone in the Den would do something too.

She took a deep breath and stepped on the bridge. The bridge moved.

Raliz raised his other foot onto the bridge and she continued. The bridge made some creaking sound every step she took.

She stopped and looked behind her. Paul, Clarke and Serpent were right behind her, walking with her and that made her happy.

" I'm so thankful that I have friends like them." Raliz said in her thought.

As she walked slowly, she said something.

" Guys, I'm so happy that I'd been given a chance to see you at a time like this. Even though, this time was so cruel and sad, I'm still thankful that I could be with you."

Now, she passed one-fourth of the length of the bridge but every stepped she took, the creaking sound became louder and louder.

" If... If I couldn't make it... I wish... You could still be happy without me..."

" Raliz! Stop saying that!" Paul said irritated. He really doesn't like when Raliz said something like that. Paul won't let something bad happen to Raliz.

Raliz smiled.

" Clarke. Paul. Thank you for being my best friends. You two are the best. I never thought that you two would also be here."

Raliz's eyes started to watered.

" Every memories that we made together, I'll cherish it until the end. I'm just thankful to have you guys."

Tears fell down.

Clarke hearing Raliz said that, he wanted to cry too.

" Raliz, I'll cherish them too. And... I'm thankful to have you, too." Clarke said while holding himself from crying.

Paul, upon seeing Clarke, suddenly bowed his head.

" Me too. And Raliz, I wanted you to know that... We love you. And I'm sorry... I couldn't prevent what happened to you, I couldn't save you..."

Raliz tears poured down after Paul said that.

Raliz felt warmed and also terrified. Not terrified of dying or failing this trial but terrified by leaving them behind and leaving her family behind.

" Guys, If I die..." Raliz was cut off.

" Raliz, you're not! You won't... I won't let you... Never." Clarke said and tears fell down too in his face.

The creaking sounds became cracking sounds and like anytime it will break.

Clarke and Paul started to worry. They didn't expect Raliz to be perfect, Raliz made some terrible mistakes too. And they don't know what happened when Raliz came here in Alpha.

Serpent was still calm. It knew it wasn't the end for Raliz. Serpent could feel it but worry couldn't stop Serpent from feeling it.

Halfway till they reached the end.

They all felt the tense. Raliz resumed walking.

When she got those words out from her heart, she was determined to live. She wanted to cross the bridge and live once again.

The time passed, few steps more and Raliz would reached the end of it. They could see blinding lights at the end.

But... the bridge was full of cracks and it's like that if Raliz would take a few steps, it would break.

Raliz cleared her mind.

She walked slowly this time. As she stepped closer to the end, barks of the bridge came falling.

Paul and Clarke activated their powers and flew away from the bridge but not too far from Raliz.

Raliz would take eight steps more and she'll reached it. She took another step and the starting line of the bridge suddenly collapsed.

Raliz shivered but composed herself.

And when she took three steps, half of the bridge collapsed.

The closer she gets, the faster the bridge collapsed. She breathe heavily. Two more steps.

She moved her foot and landed it and three-fourth of the bridge collapsed. The bridge's surface became more crumbly and very shaky.

Raliz didn't want to take another step.

She remembered everyone. Her Grandfather, her family, her two best friends, her team and the pack.

A tear fell.

" I'm still going to live. I will not die."

After she said that she lift her foot and was about land it but all the remains of the bridge collapsed.
