" I was living happily here with my mum and dad.
My dad was a business man and mum was his secretary. Their company was famous. They were known by many.
I was 6 when Suddenly one day I was playing at my house and Mum was cooking dinner for us when someone banged the door very harshly.
Mum asked me to go inside the room, I was scared but didn't want to leave mum alone.
She pushed me so I had to follow her. I went inside the room. She looked tensed. Who wouldn't be if someone out of nowhere banged the door like they're gonna break it?
She hurried to the door as the banging increased.
I peeped from the room and saw 2 dangerous looking men with black tshirts with a snake print on each, muscular with veins popping like they're gonna burst any moment.
The room was far away from the front door so I couldn't hear what they were saying but I heard they were shouting at mum and she was trying to explain them like she didn't do anything. They didn't seem to agree with her.
Mum asked me not to come out so I didn't.
They argued for 10 minutes straight. I was scared for mum but I had never seen her this bold. Like she knew she was right. In front of those monstrous figures, she didn't flinch a bit. Infact she didn't seem to be bothered by their built at all.
Who were they? Why were they talking to my mum like that? Were they someone from the company? What were they arguing about?
I had too many questions.
Soon they went back and she shut the door saying don't bother me if you have no proof.
I ran towards her and hugged her tight.
She lifted me up laughing, trying to hide all her emotions from me. She didn't want me to worry.
But still I asked her, were they a threat to us, mom?
No sweetheart, no body is going to be a threat to you and us. I'll always be there with you. I'll always protect you.
She lied
At this his eyes filled up with tears.
I hugged him. He was opening up to me. Re-entering the horrible part of his life. Did it make him uncomfortable?
So I asked him, if it makes you uncomfortable to talk about it, you can stop honey.
No, its fine. I will feel better to share it with you.
So I took him to a ice cream shop which was just on the path we were walking on.
It was almost empty. Only 2-3 people sitting and talking.
I bought an ice cream for him. His favourite, mint chocolate chip ice cream with hot fudge.
He was happy to see it. Like a baby when he sees a toy.
He ate and then began again.
Few days passed by normally. But then I noticed mum and dad arguing about something in their room.
One day I was passing by their room towards the kitchen to drink water at night when I heard mum say "The Vipers are not gonna spare us, John"
It felt strange but I didn't pay attention that time.
