Earth has been striving ever since the ozone layer had been rebuilt, however, people treated it like a rehab center, or perhaps a homeless shelter. It was beautiful here and people needed to realize that this is our home planet, but they didn't. It was a prison here for them, not for me. I loved my planet, there should be annual tours or trips every month or so that people can remember what green trees and leaves look like.
My thoughts were interrupted when a frail woman started placing her items on the counter.
"Hi, welcome to whitkone, my name is Clara Melni", I spoke with the usual heart-warming tone. You'd think that after inhabiting planets there'd be technology more advanced than a cashier with a register and a supermarket, but nope still the usual not bothering to fix the simple problems. Once a young man asked a scientist to improve taps since we live in 2070, he laughed and told him to do it himself. Man, scientists have an ego.
"Do you know what kind of rooks work here", she interrupted my thoughts with her soft voice.
"Pardon?", I replied
"Rooks, what kind of rooks work here", she repeated. I looked at her in confusion. What in the hell is a rook were the only thoughts running through my mind? She sensed my confusion, and held up her phone and pointed behind it. My mind clicked.
"You're talking about batteries", I whispered.
"Yes, the frequencies are different on other worlds and I can't seem to remember what kind you use here, I must say it's nice to use simple language, rather than those fancy terms all the time. Where I'm from they won't reply to you until use the fancy terms", she murmured with a fake smile. And her daughter whom she was carrying, nodded.
"Okay, that's all right behind you there's a purple box just hand me that and I'll scan it for you, unfortunately, you can't take out the batteries from our batteries, you have to buy a brand new phone.", she nodded and paid then left. I couldn't help but feel cold towards the poor woman, but judging by her appearance I would say she just moved here.
After my encounter with the, I'm guessing a single mother. I continued my research for college, I'm trying to become a scientist, so that means that you got to work hard.
Later a rather old man came into the shop it was mid-November and 10 business was slow. However, I recognized the not-so-old man, Serenade John, he made the best toys in the whole galaxy. I must say I never expected him to look so young.
