As he stumbled getting back onto his feet, It all came back to him he could hear the officer screaming at him, men climbing up the ladder he could hear so clearly now but, wished to God he hadn't. Screams, cries, and gunshots, and of course distant bombs exploding...He once again tried climbing the ladder but this time without fault, his eyes stared into nothingness, there were no trees, no grass. The air was thick the sky was grey and he started to feel hot raindrops from above. what he saw could not be described with words, all he could make out in a split second was men yelling like they were insane moving all in the same direction. There was mud mixed in with the blood of young and old soldiers who had lost there lives for nothing, hands, fingers, arms, legs, heads, never seeing a whole body without being covered in mud or blood, barb wire covered the filled with broken wagons, and shells everywhere. He began running, running as fast as he could not stopping. It was all slow motion for him, bullets whizzing past him and pieces of shrapnel flying all over the place, but the only thing going threw his mind was that trench and death. He knew if he doesn't run faster he will surely die. Panting now his side was burning because of the dirt and sweat entering the deep wound..but not giving in he kept charging he saw it the edge of the trench and the men jumping into it bayonets ahead, he gave it one last push until his eyes were drawn to a object from the sky coming towards him at a rapid speed.the impact of a mortar bomb exploding 6 feet away from him sent him flying to the other side of the trench, caught in the barbed wire he laid there lifeless upside down leaving him exposed. He played there and watched as the men swarmed the trench killing anybody not wearing a grey uniform. Blacking out and coming back to reality over and over again he saw a young boy younger than he was sitting down his back against the trench wall curled up into a ball head dug into his muddy coat. crying but not hearing it still deaf because of the mortar. The kid looked up and starred straight into his eyes getting somthing from his side a pistol. he stood up slowly the coat hitting the ground and pointed directly at the the soldier caught on the barbed wire. he cocked the pistol and was about to shoot the soldier, he closed his eyes waiting for it all to go black until a loud shot rang out he opened his eyes slowly and say the kid down on his knees a bullet hold entering from the bottom of his head threw the top...the soldier starred and eventually lost consciousness.
