Chapter 1 - Be My Support

'There he goes again, the chess genius Damian Cheng.'

Tan Jia Guang who was sitting at the back of the assembly hall looked at one of his classmates who is walking onto the stage.

"Now give a round of applause to Damian Cheng who won the national chess competition." said the principle of the school as he received the trophy for Damian Cheng from another teacher.

Damian Cheng smiled as his hands reached out to take the trophy from the principle.

After taking a photo with the principle, Damian Cheng received another round of applause from everyone including the teachers.

As Damian Cheng walks way, he noticed someone watching him closely.

'Why does that weirdo keep on looking at me every day, it is getting creepy?' He asked himself as he looked at Tan Jia Guang who is waving at him with a silly grin on his face.

Their eyes met, one of them carried brightness, warmness, and happiness and the other one contained darkness, coldness, and disgust.

All of a sudden, Tan Jia Guang stood up from his seat and shouted…

"STAY RIGHT THERE, DAMIAN CHENG!"

Before Damian Cheng could take another step to his seat, someone stopped him. It was Tan Jia Guang who had run forward.

Everyone in the assembly hall was shocked by this development, but only Damian Cheng was not flustered.

"What do you want, you annoying bastard?" Damian Cheng asked rudely as he tries to push Tan Jia Guang away from his sight with his hands.

Tan Jia Guang returned the favour by pushing Tan Jia Guang back to the same spot where he was standing and finally asked him the same question that he had asked every day since they met.

"Have you ever heard of DotA2?" Tan Jia Guang said as he continued explaining the beauty of the game that he fell in love with.

From the hundreds of heroes to choose from every game, all of them having a unique playstyle waiting to be mastered to the million-dollar tournaments that contained the dreams and glory of the professional players.

He spoke of everything in detail with a burning passion. His words even cause some of the students and teachers who have never heard of the game before wants to play it now.

Too bad Damian Cheng had already been immune to this due to him listening to the same thing every day and extinguished any hot-bloodedness that came boiling up into his chest.

Finally, after Tan Jia Guang had done give Damian Cheng a piece of his mind he asked the real question.

"Can you be my support? You are one of the top chess players in the nation. That means you are calculative and had the observation skills that a great support player needed."

"You and me, hand in hand, we can be the greatest duo to grace the pro scene and help South East Asia win The International for the first time!"

The hall started chanting for Damian Cheng to agree to Tan Jia Guang's offer, as the screams grow louder some of the teachers have to step in to stop all this madness.

Damian Cheng laughed loudly, attracting the whole hall's attention onto both of them. After ten seconds or so he finally stopped before giving a cruel no, but he quickly added another sentence.

"If you can beat me 1v1 mid, I might think about it, but if you lose never bother me again."
