My name is Alfreck. I was born in the Brokan Year in 1880. I was born into a Medium Noble lineage; my proper name is Alfreck von Milbrath. My family does not control much anymore, the power of the country has been centralized. We survived due to my family serving as Royal Military advisors for centuries.
I serve as the Vice-Commander for a mobile infantry unit for the Unified Yusian Empire. I am mainly in command for the majority of the time; we see our Commander Major Yebert De Alfon time to time. Commander Alfon only received his rank due to his father. Alfon's father serves as the General Staff's strategist.
If someone told me Major Alfon was related to Colonel Herbert De Alfon; I wouldn't dare believe as the comparison of a drunkard major to a High ranking member of the General staff is too far apart.

We made it to the front; it was different from the propaganda the trenches were full of rats, dead bodies, and diseases with the only way to not get sick from the rampaging diseases was to bath in gasoline with the hope of not getting gasoline poisoning.
We stood in the trenches with our knees bent, by the sound of multiple whistling noises we hopped up and charged but a different whistling noise this time the sound of mortars but once heard them you're already dead. Within in minutes, the company is annihilated 100s of corpses gunned down or bled to death by shrapnel.
I have never been considered ruthless but once I heard the sound of mortars I grabbed a private next to me pulled him down covering my body and he would soon die too multiple bullet wounds and shrapnel.
Commander Alfon would go on to receive a medal of heroism for leading the charge but the reports never mentioned that all his troops either died or were now amputees. He received an Honourable discharge within a month of the charge and got to go back home to spend the rest of his life drinking and spending his sweet time with the girls from the brothels.

Captain Alfreck... A fresh batch of Officer recruits from Hagler Military Academy has arrived. You are ordered to receive a Military promotion to Major, take over a 1000 man Cohort, and show 10 new Lf. Captains to a designated post and to place them in charge of 100 men each and prepare then for charges. Make sure every fresh officer has been equipped with there sidearm, sword, and whistle.
Captain Alfreck: Listen up Officer Recruits; Form Single File line and prepare kick march.
We marched to the awaiting 1000 men to be assigned an Lf. Captain. I assigned the Officers out and ordered an Inspection. By the sound of 10 men yelling First Quarter Inspection Arms; 250 rifles popped out. By Military regulations; 1000 men cohorts are to be inspected weekly and to be inspected in groups of 250. This would dismiss the need to have 1000 men hold up their rifles for hours on end.
Our cohort has been named the Alrath Infantry Cohort to honor its first Commander myself.
