Chapter 1 - When The Sun Rises

"Tilly, you are going to be late for your first day of school!" my mother shoutes up the stairs.

"I'm coming mother, hold your horses." I sigh in exasperation. Sometimes I wish my mother was more lenient.

One last look in the mirror and I am ready to face the world, sort of. People always say I look more like my late father than my mother, while my little brother looks more like my mother. I have the bluest eyes and strait blond hair that hangs past my shoulders. My nose is small and is my favorite feature of face. I'm almost always smiling with my dimples showing. Right now I'm not smiling because I'm awake at an ungodly hour. This morning I pick a blue t-shirt and a pair of jean shorts to wear on my first day of my sophomore year in high school. I glance at my alarm clock. Crap. It's 7:15 I'm running late.

Quickly I head downstairs passing my brother Austin, on the way to the kitchen. Suddenly thier is a glint pf blue and a black streak comes racing twards me. I brace myself for impact. "Ugg Kiki get off of me". I am sprawled out on the floor with a blue eyed Australian Shepherd sitting on my chest. I push her off of me and head into the kitchen.

Grabbing my piece of toast I poor myself a glass of orange juice and sit down at the dining room table. My brother slides into the chair across from me with his usual bowl of cereal.

My brothers first day of fourth grade is today. He is popular with the girls in his class, he has the look of a rebel with his luminous green eyes and messy brown hair. He is only about a half a foot shorter than me with my five foot four figure and him with his four foot eight figure. I don't know how he can attract so many girls while I attract zero boys! I'm hoping that this year will be different in the love department.

Austin shakes me out of my revelry by telling me the time. Double crap I should have left already I'm going to be late to shool.
