Chapter 23 - Chapter 19: Thunder

"Save me", "I'm sorry please just leave me alone", "ahhh!!!"

Sarah: (with sympathy) I think we should help him now shouldn't we?

Natsumi: hmph! That's what he get for being too arrogant.

Emyrs: He wouldn't die that easily, we will circle around the boss and ambush him from behind.

Everyone: right!

They circled behind the boss and launched their battery.

As always the shield comes first.

Gaviel: iron defence! [increases base defence by 10% for 5 minutes]

Trying to get the madden boss' attention from Russell, Gaviel had to use shield wrath [forces a target to target you for 2 minutes or else, you would deal 600% to the target]

With the boss focusing of Gaviel, Emyrs and his team had all the time in the world to attack it... for 2 minutes at least.

The boss health was easily reduced to 60%. At the point his body began to shed of a piece of his armor; his defence was reduce by 10% and his attack speed had increase by 20%. The same action happened once the boss' health was melted to 40%.

With a close to perfect synchronization and great leadership from Emyrs, the boss was not a match to them.

Once the boss' health reached 20% it finally grown into an enraged state. A pair gleaming red eyes comparable to a blood moon and hulk size muscle furious barbarian ramped towards them.

It was easily dodged.

However, it was not the end of the boss yet. Emyrs and his team knew full well that for every time the boss attack his attack speed and movement speed would increase slightly, much less the fact that it would be immune to slow or root. On the flip side, its defense would also decrease slightly; this would become quickly ramp up to an unbearable amount even for a full C rank team. After all the best defense is the strongest offence.

At this moment the entire team was in an alert state, adrenaline surged up their faces and they had to use all of their best abilities to deal with this hassle before it turns into a monster. The fight ended in a flash. A D rank boss is ultimately still a D rank boss. Unless Emyrs and his team became arrogant and started to neglect the fact that a boss is still a boss by dragging out the fight, there was no way they could have lost this fight.

With a victory in mind, they were exhalited to open the boss chest.

Russell: (In pride, cackle) Too easy, 1 down 9 more to go!

Faelyn: (counter) Don't act as if you contributed anything to the team.

Russell: (tauntingly) I don't want to hear that from someone who stands at a corner and goes pew- pew-

And they fought again like usual brothers.

{Russell & Faelyn: (In unison) Who wants to be the same blood with this ***** ?!}

{author: coughs* coughs* anyway...}

As the leader of the team, Emrys, he gets to choose who opens the box. He chose himself as it was the most logical decision he could make; after all, he has the highest luck stats.

The chest sat on a cobblestone stone pavement. It had a mangrove wood texture with a golden frame. It had strips of black gold running through the middle, horizontally. In the top core of the chest layed a coal black gem, eating away the lone strand of light that striked on it.

Unknown to all, a massive spider was lurking in the shadow, ready to ambush any prey that comes close to its territory, the inciting chest. It had a pair sharp and mighty pincer, jet black fur and a clump of ebony black eyes. It's eye vision was low, but it was no fool; being adapted to suit all kinds of situations, it found out that being patient is the key to all forms of success. After myriad of generation it finally morphed into its most deadliest form- a camper.

It may be impossible to detect with ordinary eyes, but Emyrs has no regular eyes. Looking at the child's play of hide and seek, Emyrs was fascinated.

Walking nonchalantly towards the chest. He crouched down looking straight into the chest. To his surprise, the shadow lurker didn't move nor twitch, it just quietly sat there.

Emyrs: (smiled with amusement) not as half baked as I though...

Emyrs pondered for a while, "Maybe I'll keep this little fellow as a pet?", Emyrs thought to himself. (arachnophobic anyone?)

The moment Emyrs made contact with chest. The shadow lurker instantly reacted, pouncing onto Emrys. He reacted with a kick to the face.

The shadow lurker was catapulted into the air. It, however, was able to stabilize itself in the air, but it didn't matter anymore- Emyrs was waiting for him. The shadow lurker panicked as Emyrs pulled out a square shaped metal frame covered with intertwined steel mesh. Its instinct tells it that it was going to be over. Its life is going to be over.

And well right is its instinct correct. Once Emyrs threw the cage into the air, it expended and sucked the large spider in. It was trapped. Screeching and scratching, it was flute. Nothing was able to destroy the cage, at least from the inside.

The cage is actually called a "capture cage". The effects are like a Pokeball from Pokémon; the only difference is that the cage can be easily broken from the outside and the monster has to be set into submission before actually listen to your commands, it's the same even if the captured monster is in the cage. (Note: only those from the monster race would work and it is usually used to capture dungeon monsters out of dungeons without disintegrating the monsters themselves.) They open the chest and took out its content.

With the shadow lurker in hand and the treasure on the other. They set of to the next floor to set up a camp. After all, they didn't want to stay at this floor for too long lest the boss spawned again and it would be a hassle to defeat it again or else they can't leave.

Setting up a camp for the night at the dungeon. It's probably the dungeons illusion fooling us with a movable day night cycle. It was confirmed by Emyrs as his watch said 2:43 pm but it's currently night time in the dungeon.

Sitting down beside a warm, comfy campfire and a sweet sleeping Alice on his left side. Sitting around the campfire was the rest of the members. The members was rowdy, displayed right in front of them was a treasure, a treasure so rare that could only be found once every aeon- the golden desert eagle.

It was a treasure almost comparable to a legendary weapon, nevertheless it was the best weapon you could obtain in this dungeon. Emyrs' luck really is broken. While discussing, it was pretty obvious that they got into and fight and guess who started it? Russell, of course.

They never did quiet down, Emyrs wasn't interested in the weapon. Maybe just a little considering the fact that this is a medieval setting and things like desert eagle shouldn't exist. Emyrs was enjoying the spider's solo melodic chorus.

It wasn't a chorus, but a SMD (save me daddy XD) signal.

Russell: (petrified with wide open eyes) Oh mama... it's a huge spider...

Most team members are petrified. It was obvious this this is at least an A rank boss, because only A rank boss or above their title would be shown over their head in red, usually none or white depends on the strength of the monster. (Note that this only works with bosses and bosses only)

Emyrs fear that Alice would lose her innocence and be traumatized by this experience if she see were to be woken up; thus, he grab the gun right in front of him and aligned the sight with the boss and...

A sound of thunder.
