After Micheal had used the rock to process the bones, what came out was a makeshift bony knife. He had taken some grass from the ground to make the handle, to help maintain his grip on the knife.
Micheal started to practice with the knife, making large arcs and stabbing motions. He might face some other monsters later, and the knife would be useful to get rid of them. The robotic chip had a limited power source and needed to recharge once in a while using the chemical potential energy in the bloodstream.
It was too dangerous to risk the robotic chip's power running out at a critical moment. A knife would help with most battles and finish them without any help from the robotic chip.
With the knife finished, Micheal carefully used the knife to skin the wolf. There were numerous bloodstains on the pelt, but that could always be washed later in a stream of water. As for the flesh of the wolf, it was worthless, and would only slow him down as a burden. It would be rotten by the time he had carried it to the village, since he needed extra effort to lug it along.
He carried the wolf pelt on his shoulder, with some blood contaminating his tattered brown shirt. According to the youth's memories, there was a path that he could take to return to the village through the forest. He stored the knife inside his discoloured shorts' pocket, and started to walk across the path.
The path was quite safe, as Liam had passed through the forest using this path many times to get to the foot of the hill. The foot of the hill had been the place for Liam to destress and relax after numerous hours of strenuous and back breaking work of tending to his crops as a farmer.
However, the forest had some animals that was very hostile to humans and were provoked rather easily. One of these animals was the wolf he had encountered just now. Some examples of the other dangerous animals were bears who could exert massive strength, the monkeys that attacked in large groups.
They usually kept to their territories, but if they tried to attack Micheal, he would not hesitate to kill them. He began to leisurely walk through the path, crunching dried leaves that littered the path to the village.
As Micheal walked through the forest, he could see some animals scuttling past him. There were also some eyes in the trees looking at him, but he did not care and just continued to move forward. He did not have time to deal with just animals alone.
As Micheal was not disturbed or attacked by anything, he had walked about 15 minutes before he had finally reached the village, with sweat layering his weak physique. Now that Micheal finally had to do human interaction, it was best that he referred to himself as Liam at this point, to avoid arousing suspicion.
"Hey, is that Liam? How did he even get that wolf pelt? Did some kind-hearted hunter give it to him?" As Liam came into the village, a villager pointed out that he was carrying a wolf pelt.
"You're right. A single wolf already required at least a team of 1 senior hunter and 2 junior hunters to take down in combat. Why would they ever give it to him?" The villagers gossiped endlessly about the possible circumstances Liam could have gotten the pelt from.
Liam ignored their small talk and headed straight for the general store run by Mr Rogers. He would buy anything and sold all the necessities to the local villagers.
"Liam. I see you have a wolf pelt. What do you think about 4 bronze Deltas?" Mr Rogers immediately tries to rip Liam off the moment he walked into the shop.
"Yeah right. I know you use wolf pelts to make coats for those visitors from other states. It's obviously worth more than such a meagre amount. 10 bronze Deltas." Liam tried to negotiate with Mr Rogers.
"Come on, there are bloodstains on this wolf pelt. 4 bronze Deltas." Mr Rogers deflected the offer by Liam with ease.
Liam stood there gloomily as he realised that he had forgotten to wash the wolf pelt in a hurry to sell it.
"I'll be right back." Liam quickly took off for the house he lived in with the wolf pelt.
After some seconds of brisk walking, Liam was in front of an average sized wooden house, with some mold growing on the various sides of the house. The front pathway was barely still visible, covered in various layers of wild growth.
Liam took out the bony knife that he stored and used it to methodically prune the plants, allowing him to use the pathway effortlessly. He carried the pruned parts of the plants with one arm and used the other arm to unlock the door of the house.
"Big Brother! You're back!" Liam's little sister, Maylin, came into view and hugged his leg tightly. As Liam looked down on her, he could see her features more clearly now. She had brown hair and was averagely built. This was because of Liam giving her his food to eat. In Liam's memories, he had only seen her as a blurry distortion.
"Could you get away from he? I have important things to do today." Liam removed the little girl from his leg by grabbing her collar and putting her on the ground gently.
He then headed for the buckets of water that was located in the house's kitchen. Maylin jumped to her feet and followed her brother. What was wrong with him today? Normally, he would not treat her so roughly.
When Liam reaches the kitchen, he took a bucket of water, before going outside of the house, where a small brush was at. He then proceeded to dunk the wolf pelt inside the bucket, scrubbing it repeatedly using the small brush in his hand.
"Big Brother! You're so impressive! You killed a wolf by your own hands!" Maylin's eyes lit up when she saw what was being brushed. It was a wolf pelt, which she had seen before on a senior hunter's shoulder.
Liam ignored her comments and continued to scrub the wolf pelt. Before long, the wolf pelt had successfully been cleaned, leaving a wolf pelt that gave off the impression of a vicious wolf. Liam noticed this and was interested by this phenomena. This world really had something special in it after all.
