"As you said war is not an option, but that only leaves us with one solution"
" And what is that solution father" I asked looking straight at my father, feeling that I won't like what's coming.
"Marriage alliance" Father said
" Marriage alliance?..." I said not understanding how that is possible. "But Rucubia's Royal family has only one son, which is the crown prince you mentioned earlier"
I stopped for a second trying to think about all the information I have on Rucubia's Royal family, but there was no other thing about them, they have kept a low profile since what happened ten years ago.
" So a marriage alliance is not possible also, as each of us is the sole heir to the throne" I concluded feeling quite victorious.
"That was what we thought too, as you and Rucubia's crown prince each have to take over your kingdom's throne in the future, but during our trip, we had some discussion with the Royal family and we figured a solution for this" mother said
"If this marriage were to happen" father started. "Our two countries will partially merge, you and the crown prince will rule the mutual affairs of the two kingdoms, but each kingdom will still have affairs that will need attention from each of you individually, which means that our two countries will still be independent"
" W..what? " to say that I was stunned would be an understatement, this wasn't something I expected at all
"Merge our two kingdoms..... for what? " I stopped momentarily collecting my thoughts. " father I understand that you want to end the conflicts and close that door forever, but if I might say, this is a rushed way, merging the two kingdoms can't happen just because of something like this and it is also not easy to do. if we were to merge then there will be lands that would be opened on each other in the borders, And that will effect our people and certainly our nation security"
I was dead serious about this matter, although I didn't want that marriage to happen I was more worried about my knigdom.....merging the two kingdoms, that will attract many issues.
I could see the confusion on both father and mother faces, they looked at each other for a moment then back at me, they were looking at me as though they were trying to detect something through my eyes.
" In what way will that effect our people and national security " Father asked
"It's unavoidable that some of our people will not accept the merging, so that will eventually lead to conflict between our people and Rucubia's people, and I needn't to say what this will lead to " I stopped for a moment to let father think about what I just said.
"There is a big possibility that this may lead us to an unavoidable war with Rucubia if things were to get out of hand, and with the borders opened on each other, things will be so hard to control at least for the first few hours"
"But that's not all that I am worried about, there will be no security guards between certain points in the borders, and I personally can't trust that Rucubia won't try to do anything, after all the two kingdoms were at war ten years ago, and although the relations between us and Rucubia is stable at the moment, but we are also not in good relations, so there is no way I am going to be able to trust them enough to remove some of the border lines between us."
"Acelina, let me ask you something." mother said with a serious face but I could see a sense of sadness in her eyes.
"Is what you are saying truly because of the political relations or...." mother avoided my gaze for a second, but then looked at me again and continued.
"Or is it because you still can't let go of what happened ten years ago, of what happened to y...."
" Mother...."
