Chapter 2 - Chapter 1: Survive by being cute

"So this is what heaven is like," I whispered as I grabbed a handful of the soft blanket beneath me.

Just a few moments before, I had ran into my ex and fell down an elevator shaft. I'm pretty certain I'm dead.

I slowly sat up and looked at my surroundings. I was in a very large tent. Throughout the floor were wooden and metal chests. They were left open and clothing, weapons, and armor spilled out of them. I got up from the bed I was sitting on and grabbed an oversized white blouse to change into. It fit me more like a dress and covered up to my mid thigh. The silky, light material felt so much more comfortable than the stiff clothing I was wearing.

I wandered a little bit more to the center of the room to a large table and saw it had a map covering it. On top of the parchment were little figurines; a series of little metal pawns of different colors were scattered throughout the map.

It wasn't a map of any country I recognized. Nothing seemed familiar. Not only were the location of the land and oceans different but a series of monsters were drawn throughout them. My eyes quickly scanned over he entire document and I found all the names were all written in a language I never seen before. Panic set in as I began to think that I actually wasn't in heaven after all.

I froze as I heard voices outside of the tent. They started growing closer and closer. I fell on my knees and desperately looked for a place to hide under. A sharp rock on the floor cut my leg as I crawled under the table. I covered myself with a random piece of white linen and ripped off a little to wrap my wound. There was a small hole in it so I watched in silence as the tent's flaps were thrown open and moonlight poured in. A sole figure calmly strolled into the room. I watched as the person kick of their shoes and throw on a pair of leather sandals. They walked over to the bed when they suddenly stopped. I saw them kick at my clothes that I changed out of moments before.

Oh no.

The air seemed to drop by ten degrees. I buried myself deeper into the linen in the hopes that whoever was in here wouldn't see me.

Their steps seemed to grow father away. I thanked God and allowed myself to relax. Maybe I could sneak out of the tent and find out where I was...

My thoughts were interrupted by the linen violently being torn from me. I held back a scream.

In front of me, stood a handsome man with silver hair and blood red eyes. He looked almost twice my height. His sharply sculpted face and topless torso glistened in the moonlight. I scooted back as he flipped the table and slowly approached me. A cold gaze met mine as he assessed what he should do with me. When his hands slowly passed over the sword strapped to his waist, my survival instinct took over. I am ashamed that this is what my subconscious associates with a survival skill but I obeyed.

My lower lip protruded into a pout, my head tilted at a 45 degree angle and my hands lifted up like a puppies as I whimpered:

"Please pet me, Mr. Warlord!"

The man stopped moving and let out a weird sound. His pale cheeks suddenly grew bright red as he turned his head to the side.

"Дали е тоа мојата кошула,"* the man murmured. I had no idea what he said but I was glad he didn't seem to want to kill me. However, another part of me was dying of embarrassment that before I almost died (yet again) those would have been my final words...I needed a serious talk with myself later. "Mr. Warlord" quickly glanced at me again before yelling something. I put my hands on my lap but otherwise kept the same cute demeanor.

It was so embarrassing to be seen like this.

In a few moments, a man rushed into the tent next with his sword drawn. Just like "Mr. Warlord", he was extremely handsome. However, this new character was fully dressed and had blonde hair up to his shoulders. He also had a much more refined air and looked more like a scholar than a warrior.

Mr. Warlord went over to greet the blonde. The blonde quickly put away his sword after the two exchanged some words. I assumed they were friendly as the blonde excitedly hugged the man. He had found a lamp and lit it. The tented area looked a lot more grand now as I realized the walls of the tent looked to be made out of golden silk.

Mr. Warlord then lead the blonde over to me and gestured in an excited manner that didn't fit his rugged looks. The blonde turned his attention to me and let out a dazzling smile.

"не грижи се," the man told me and reached out his hand. I wasn't sure what he was saying but having the two of them look at me in such a position and all the drama that happened before made my eyes water without my consent. I silently cursed at myself as tears started falling out of my cheeks.

Mr. Warlord started yelling at the blonde.

"Дали ме разбираш?" the blonde took a small pouch out from his pocket and opened it. He then took about a pinch in his hand and blew it in my face which caused me to stop crying but start coughing instead.

"What are you doing to her," I head a deep voice rumble. I looked up suddenly and realized I could understand them speak.

"Nothing, I just gave her some fae power so she can understand us," the blonde replied, "Don't you want your Guardian to be able to understand you?"

"My what," Mr. Warlord yelled. He had been avoiding looking at me the entire time time but finally turned to me. His cheeks grew red again but this time he didn't look away.

"We did the summoning spell last week Grey," solemnly said the other man, "I thought it didn't work but apparently it did."

Curiosity got the better of me so I shifted closer and grabbed the hem of the blonde's shirt.

"What are you talking about...sir" I hesitantly added the sir after just in case it was rude not to.

"You're really lucky Grey. You got a cute one unlike my brother," the blonde chuckled, "My name is Sir Boris Howell. However, you can just call me Boris, Ms. Guardian."

I glanced over at Mr. Warlord, who is apparently named Grey. He looked hard at my hand holding the hem of Boris's shirt so I quickly let go and put them in my lap. The furrow in Grey's brow disappeared but still stared at me.

"My name is Luna Santos but Luna is fine," I pulled down the hem of the shirt I was wearing as I realized it was riding up. I heard Grey make another strange sound and watched him run his face with his large hand.

"It is a pleasure Miss. Luna," Boris said and squatted down so he could be on my level. I heard Grey snort as he also squatted down and edged slightly closer to me. In his hands were the linen I had from and he played with the hem before slowly handing it over to me.

"Thank you". I placed the linen on my lap and intently eyed Grey. Now that he wasn't trying to kill me, I could drool over how hot he is.

"This is Lord Grey Anthenias the Third. The greatest warlord of our time," Boris chirped happily, "And my childhood friend. You, Miss. Luna, were chosen to be his Guardian."

"What is a Guardian," I had a feeling whatever position this was was going to be burdensome.

"The being picked by God to best protect and enhance the current abilities of the person summoned," Boris grabbed both my hand and Grey's, "A chosen being who will help make their partner's dream come true."

I gulped as Boris put Grey's hand on top of mine.

"You are the key to end the War."
