my name is Tan Yan Min, a half Chinese Japanese 21-year-old man but my friends call me Jin (é) it means "quiet" cause I've always been a silent kid. I was born in China but now live in Japan ever since my parents passed away in an airplane crash that took the lives of 70 people including them. My uncle who was full Japanese took me in as he raised me in Kyoto
I spent the rest of my childhood and my teenage years there, nothing much other than it's very snowy in the winter, very hot in the summer and very chilly in autumn, but very nice during spring. after I finished high school there, I went to Tokyo University to become a silviculturist since my father used to be one before he died and I loved going to the forests back at Kyoto.
it was quite hard for me to get used to the place since Tokyo is a very populated city and the culture there is very different than at Kyoto. but in the end, I managed to adapt to the place. it was quite a hectic every day for me since I need to learn another language other than Japanese and Chinese so I tried learning English not to mention the number of other studies that are added to my learning list. those were easy for me to learn and handle but what is always giving me trouble is my roommate.
"dinner is ready!" a feminine voice called out to me as I sighed tiredly from hearing it
a woman with blueish white hair and was wearing a traditional Japanese kimono entered my room as she wears an apron over the kimono and was holding a ladle in her hand.
her name is Setsura Yuki and she is a Japanese ghost spirit that's called a Yuki Onna (éȘć„ł, snow woman), and she's my wife.
"get out of this room and eat your dinner," Yuki told me in a stern voice as she points the ladle at my face
it's a very interesting story of how I got engaged to this snow woman.
"Alright, I'm going," I told her with a sigh as I get up from my seat and heads towards the dining room where there was a simple Japanese meal of Rice, Miso Soup and grilled fish there
I met Yuki at the Hokkaido Forest back when I was just a ten-year-old kid
"eat so I can clean the dishes," Yuki told me in a cold voice as she eats a bowl full of shaved ice in front of me
"fine" I replied to her as I gave my thanks for the meal before grabbing my chopsticks and started to eat my meal
back then, I met the Snow woman when she was the same age as me and the two of us played together before I grew up and left Hokkaido
"did you add more Soyu sauce to the miso soup?" I ask Yuki as I had just tasted a bit of the Miso Soup, she made for me
"Yeah, got a problem with that?" Yuki asked in a cold voice while glaring at me
"Nothing, I'm just saying it's delicious," I told Yuki while not feeling threatened by her cold glare
at first, I didn't know that she was a Yuki-onna at all because of how I was a kid and never thought much about it and I learned of her being one when she visited me in Tokyo during winter
"hmph" Yuki huffed at me as she eats her shaved ice while having a bit of red tinting her cheeks
'what a tsundere' i thought as I continued to eat my meal
when she visited me, she told me that I promised to marry her when I was a kid and we know how kids can be during those times in the past
"Thanks for the meal," I said as I gave my prayer for the delicious meal, Yuki made for me
"about time," Yuki said as she grabs my dishes and started cleaning them in the sink
since it was a promise and I didn't want to be frozen alive by the snow woman, I agreed to marry her and now here we are living in a cheap apartment together.
"what do you plan to make for tomorrow?" I asked Yuki about tomorrow's meal
"I'm not your maid, dumbass" Yuki retorted to me with a cold glare "think of it for yourself"
I pondered in my mind for a moment as eggs come into my mind
"Tamagoyaki (ć”çŒă)" I said to Yuki as she looks at me "can you make it like when we were kids?"
"really? that childish dish that you like from back in Kyoto? how immature can you be?" Yuki said to me while drying the dishes
"So is it a no?" I asked her
"Hmph! just be grateful that I listened to your stupid request," Yuki said as she takes off her apron and folds it neatly then started to take out the ingredients to make Tamagoyaki from the fridge and set it aside for tomorrow morning
Snow woman may act cold and uncaring but deep inside they're just a bunch of softies.
"thanks" I thanked her as I went back to my room to continue my studies for tomorrow's exam
I learned a lot of things about a yuki-onna from Yuki; first, they can't stand the heat, that's why Yuki stays at the apartment during summer, Spring, and Autumn. and only goes out when it's winter. Yuki-onna can't eat hot or warm foods cause it will burn their tongue and lips just from a simple lick. that's why I buy her ice creams, yogurts, and anything cold. and lastly our apartment is always cold cause Yuki will melt if it is too hot, that's why my electricity bills are always high.
but I don't really care, I'm used to the cold cause I live in Hokkaido and during the winter it was colder than Tokyo, and lastly my parttime job as a bartender near a local bar, pays me well and pays the bills as well.
"I'm sleepy" Yuki comes to the room as she went past me and towards the closet
she opens the closet and takes out one of my shirts and short pants
Yuki then strips off her kimono and puts on my clothes cause she doesn't have her clothes and I have too many.
"There's a sale for clothes tomorrow evening, we can go out and buy you some clothes if you want," I told Yuki as I paused my study to look at her
"I don't want to go outside during this time of the year," Yuki told me as she spreads out the futon on the tatami floor "it's still too hot for me"
"go to sleep," Yuki told me as she turns off the light and I turn on my desk lamp to light my table
"I have an exam tomorrow, and I need to study," I told Yuki as I continued my study and started taking notes while reading my books
"suit yourself," Yuki said as she takes the pillow and hugs it while closing her eyes
I continued my studies as I keep reading the materials that are going to come out on my exams
as time goes by, Yuki opens her eyes and stares at me from the futon as she slowly crawls towards me and hugs my back.
she laid her head at my back as she snuggles to it while hugging my waist tight
I paused my study a bit as I place my hand over hers and caressed it before continuing my study
and the last thing I knew about Yuki is that she is a very clingy girl and always likes to cling on me when we go to sleep
I continued my study until midnight as I stopped writing down my notes from my books
"Alright," I said as I crack my neck to the side and heard a pop sound from my bones cause I've been sitting for three hours straight
I look behind me and sees Yuki had fallen asleep while still clinging on to me as she lightly snores in dreamland
I untie her hold on me as I laid her down to the futon before I stand up and went to the bathroom to brush my teeth then went back to sleep. since my exam is scheduled on 11:00 AM, that gives me time to get some shut-eye
I rested my head on the pillow before getting pulled into a hug by Yuki who was still asleep as the snow woman pulled me in and hugs me like I'm a teddy bear for her.
I yawned and hugs her back as I was tired from studying and Yuki's cold body doesn't bother me that much since I got used to sleeping with her.
