Chapter 4 - A Ring

'Creak'

The moment his feet touched the floor, it soon showed it's state of decaying.

'Stubborn old man, how can he even keep on living here?"

This wooden shack have stood for decades, despite the old man constantly cleaning it, nothing can stop time from depriving you of anything, as there were mushrooms and moss already growing in every corner, termites constantly clawing the deteriorating wood causing it to the shack in due time, to give out.

"Well now that I'm here, might as well fart on his sleeping face, hehehe"

Jin rubbed his stomache as he prepared to let go of his prized bomb.

Jin slowly treaded carefully on his path, as to prevent his target from noticing.

Before long, the young boy stands before old Gren's room.

'Now to carefully open this damned noisy door'

'Creak~

As the boy carefully opened the door, the creaking was still heard.

'Hopefully he didn't hear it'

As he peered through the open gap to see if it woke up the old man, he saw nothing but a blanket and a pillow atop the owner's bed.

'The hell?'

Seeing there's nobody, Jin kicked the rusty door open.

'Bang!'

'Creak~!

'Tsk! stupid door'

After clearly seeing the situation inside the room, it seemed someone was hurriedly packing up to go on trip, it was a huge mess!

The cabinet was opened, as the clothes inside looked like a landslide.

'Did the old man go somewhere?'

'There's no way that lazy ass could have gone somwhere, right?'

The situation piqued the boy's curiosity as he searched every nook and cranny the room has to offer.

'Come on! at times like this there should be some sort of a hidden item right?'

Maybe the old man was a legendary hero who wielded a holy sword, but left it for his predecessor to succeed him?

After searching the room for a few minutes, his effort only gave him a ring with a blue gem imbedded on top of it, and there was a carving of a numeral I in it.

"Heh! don't blame me for leaving such a precious looking ring"

Jin smugly smirked as he thought of the look of the old man probably has now, if ever he realized he missed something like this.

'And it perfectly fits my finger too!'

'The ring of Baal, the overseer of demons'

As soon as Jin tested the ring. A sudden cold voice was heard suddenly in his mind.

'The Ring of Perception has chosen it's owner'

'The ability to 'see the truth within' has been granted to the owner'

The cold voice soon snapped it's connection to the dumbfounded little boy.

'Meh! maybe just an imagination'

Thought the naive Jin as he cleaned his ears

with his fingers.

Suddenly as if it was natural, his own body moved in its, he stomped his foot, destroying the frail wooden plank beneath him and there he saw a letter.

'Right now, the person seeing this letter, is probably the most endangered person in the world, neither your parents, friends, relatives or whatever relations you have, will save you'

"The heck is this prank letter!?"

'Heck! they'll probably be the first to start hunting you down'

'So in short, people will loathe you, the church will send inquisitors to hunt you down, and the demons will stop at nothing to get the Ring of their King'

'You're now nothing but an object to hate'

'So a word of advice'

'RUN AND HIDE!'

'From

-The carrier of the ring Gren 647 AD'

"The year is now 679, so it's been 32 years since he wrote this letter?"

'Well the letter does looks old enough to have lived for a few decades'

'Heh! what hell is even going on?'

'Creak~!
