Chapter 75 - Suspicion

Once we are safe, we stop at a inn and check into a room where we immediately go settle into.

Kirito closes the door behind us, locks the door, and closes all of the curtains. I immediately sit down on the bed exhausted and in pain.

Suzaku was first to speak.

"Yuki, why did you come alone? Are you insane?!"

I sigh to tired to argue.

"We had to get here as fast as we could, besides, if headmaster Chen got word he wouldn't have let me go and I can't rely on the others when it's safer if I just do it myself."

Ash shakes his head.

"Why do you smell like blood then..."

Kirito looks at Ash then back at me with a concerned expression.

I clear my throat and slide my jacket off, I look away from them as I lift my shirt up a little to reveal the bandaged wound.

Kirito immediately gets angry.

"Why didn't you say anything earlier?! You probably have an infection now!"

I sigh as he takes the bandage off to see the damage.

"You got shot!? And what's worse this looks like it's nearly a day old! Yuki!"

I roll my eyes and lay flat on my back.

"I just need some rest and I'll be fine."

Kirito taps my wound and I tense up.

"No you need medical help, Suzaku and Ash will go get supplies and necessary items. I'll clean the wound."

Suzaku and Ash nod before leaving. Kirito then begins to clean the wound very carefully.

"How are things on the Island?"

I think about our friends and smile.

"Everyone is doing good, we're just waiting for you guys to come home."

Kirito pauses for a minute before finally responding.

"Sorry, things got pretty hectic here. We made a lot of allies to help our cause though."

I wince in pain as he keeps cleaning the wound.

"Its ok, I understand. But we all miss you guys…Kirito I miss you…"

Kirito pauses for a moment and stares back at me.

"Now is not the time for this Yuki."

A rush of emotion forced me to sit up.

"Seriously? Then when's the time to bring this up? There's never a good time Kirito it's been a long time since we have seen each other face to face! That's all I was saying what the heck is your problem?!"

Kirito steps back for a second and sighs.

"I'm sorry…Yuki, you have to understand, we are trying to protect you, Kana, and her baby. We haven't thought about ourselves except for you guys."

Just then Ash and Suzuki come in and hand Kirito some supplies.

"This should be good for now, let's patch her up and get some rest for tomorrow."

With our conversation interrupted I just leave it be for the time being and decide to take a rest.

(The next day)

I slowly awake to feeling extremely hot and disoriented but nonetheless get up to get myself ready for the day. I put on some new clothes and walk out of the bathroom where I am met with Kirito who looks at me with concerned eyes.

"You look pale, why not rest a bit longer?"

I shake my head

"I'm fine let's get going before we are found out, we have to get back to the hideout and report everything to the others."

Kirito feels my head but I shake him off.

"I said I'm fine, now let's go!"

Kirito sighs but reluctantly agrees.

"Ok I'll wake Ash and Suzaku you stay here."

I nod as he goes to their rooms to wake them up. As I'm about to sit down I hear a knock on the door in which I hesitantly open to see an unknown male wearing a cocky smile and suit in the front entrance.

"Well, well, well this must be my target Yuki?"

Instinctively I take a step back but hit the wall behind me.

(This isn't good, I'm not fit to fight the at this moment.)

As if time had slowed down I'm pushed out of the way into someones arms and hear a clash of iron weapons. Once realizing what was happening I look up to see Suzaku fighting the strange man and Kirito holding me from behind. Ash hands Kirito a bag in which he puts onto his back.

"Take Yuki and get out of here, We are going to hold him off and catch up later."

Without any hesitation, Kirito picks me up and opens the window.

"Wait, No we can't just leave them to fight this alone Kirito!"

Kirito instantly gives me a deadly stare and I couldn't help but feel intimidated by it.

(There must be something else going on that I do not know about to make him leave them so easily...I should just be obedient right now.)

I sigh as we land at the foot of the window where he sets me back down.

"Come on we have to leave right now or else we will just be in the way of them."

I nod and follow him, We get into a ally way where I feel a bit faint and lean up against the wall breathing heavily from all of the running we had just done. Kirito walks up to me and lays his hand onto my shoulder.

"I can carry you if you feel unwell."

I shake my head no.

"I'm ok I just need to catch my breath, there should be a train station up ahead, maybe once we get there Suzaku and Ash can catch up."

He nods and once I felt a bit better we keep moving forward.

Once at the train station we sit down on the bench out of breath, Kirito hands me a mask which I put on, I then put my hair up into a messy bun and throw some glasses on as well. Kirito sighs and takes his hand into mine.

"How are you feeling now?"

I look at him blankly.

"I said I was fine."

Kirito rubs my head and I could not help but blush.

(It's hard to stay upset at him when I have missed him so much, I think I have grown too soft over the years...)

My mind wanders to the memories I have had training and taking care of Kana and my new nephew. The little boy has really touched my heart in more ways than anyone else has. His pure innocence has softened me.

I sigh at my thoughts and Kirito throws his arm around me pulling me closer to him.

"I'm sorry for making you worried, don't be mad anymore kay?"

I giggle a little at his soft hearten apology.

(Looks like I'm not the only one who has gotten a bit softer.)

"All is well as long as we can keep the promise we made with one another a few years earlier."

Kirito chuckles.

"I intend on keeping every promise I make."

My heart skips a couple of beats as I hear those words and it brings a sweet smile upon my lips. I instinctively lean my head onto his shoulder.

"Thank you...Kirito."

He responds nonchalantly

"Hmm"

After waiting for about another hour Ash and Suzaku soon appear and I sigh in relief.

"Thank goodness you two are ok, How did the fight go?"

Suzaku and Ash look at each other with worry and then back at us.

"Once you guys left he hardly put up a fight, it was weird he ended up retreating so we came here as fast as possible."

(Why would he approach us then not even put up a fight? Something is off.)

Before I could express my concerns Kirito speaks first.

"For now let's board the train and go to safe house number 7."

With that said we board the train and quietly take our seats.

(This seems to be too easy, But why...I cant put my finger on it.)
