A lot has happened since five years ago, Kirito, Suzaku, and Ash went back to the mainland two years ago to obtain more allies and do recon.
We would get word every now and then from them but for the past four months, we have heard nothing. Katsuo is five years old. Hes grown to be very smart and stubborn boy. He looks a bit like Kazuki but acts like his mother which is a big relief to all of us.
As my 21st birthday approaches fast I can't help but think about how much I have missed Kirito these past two years. The misson was only supposed to take about six months but has lasted this long.
Not to much has happened around the world since Rode has taken over, He has done what he said he would do since our nation is also looking for us. Since Rode has taken the thrown I have seen more of Kazuki's face on the news than I have of Rodes. It looks like they have gained a lot of people's trust, but our recon team has been reporting it's just for show at this point.
Kirito's last report was that nearly 420,000 people have vanished from our nation and the disappearances have been linked to the vampires which can only indicate that they are killing and someone is covering it up. Kirito also has come across some unmarked graves in the outskirts of some towns.
I sigh as I think about everything that's gone on the past few years but my train of thought was soon interrupted as Katsuo peeks his head around the corner. I smirk as I notice him and he giggles.
"Auntie Yuki, Mommy says she needs to talk to you."
I nod and make my way towards the living room where Kana is pacing back and forth looking very nervous.
"What's the matter?"
Upon hearing my voice she instantly shakes her head.
"Everything! Suzaku sent a message about 20 minutes ago for the first time in four months. When I saw he had sent a message I was at first very relieved, but upon reading it..."
She hands me the tablet and my heart stops for a second. There were only two words and some numbers but it was enough to have us both shaken up. I nearly drop the tablet but quickly regain my composure.
The message said.
"Send Help! 2546,5686"
(Those are coordinates to where they are located, they must have run into some trouble. We have to leave immediately but even if we did it'll at least take us 2 days or so to get to where they are.}
I sigh an aggitated sigh before throwing the tablet onto the couch. Kana looks at me nervously.
"Yuki, what should we do?"
I look towards Katsuo and then back at Kana before replying in a serious but confident tone.
"I'll leave immediately and bring them back."
Kana shakes her head and pulls Katsuo in front of her to cover his ears.
"You can't go alone let me go with you!"
I give her a faint smile and look at Katsuo who seemed to be confused.
"You can't leave him here alone, just stay out and protect him. Moreover, I need someone to open the gates out front and I don't want anyone stopping me. That job has to be yours."
Kana sighs before finally nodding in agreement.
"Fine, go get your stuff and I'll go to the control room now. Don't forget your coms."
I nod and make my way back to my room, I finish packing a backpack and as soon as I zip it up I feel Katsuo's tiny hand tug at my sleeve.
I look down to see him testy eyed which instantly melted my heart, I bend down to his level and pat his head.
"Aunty Yuki, when will you be back?"
I stroke his head and give him a bright smile before replying.
"Don't cry, I'll be back soon. For now, I need you to stay strong and protect me, mommy, for me ok? Can you do that?"
Katsuo instantly cheers up and pumps his fist in the air.
"Yes! I can protect mommy and beat up anyone who goes nears her!"
I giggle and rub his head before standing up.
"Ok, I'm off, be good, and don't forget your training!"
I leave the room with the feeling of nervousness.
(It worries me to leave them behind like this but...The boys really need some help right now...)
I eventually make it to the edge of the island in no time and turn my coms on. I place the little peace in my ear and climb onto the jet ski that was onshore.
"Kana can you hear me?"
"Loud and clear, I can override the system for only about 1 minute, when you are at the edge let me know and I'll do my part but after that, we won't be able to communicate once you across, the guards will be alerted and I'll have to do some explaining."
I silently nod.
"I understand, I'll be by the edge in about 2 minutes."
I take a deep breath and glance around me one last time before starting the jet ski and driving away.
(This will be the easy part, the hard part is yet to come.)
I quickly approach the gates and click on my com.
"Now Kana!"
As I approach the gate it opens and I quickly drive through them, no later than 30 seconds afterward it closes and all coms go silent, I hear a faint alarm going off in the distance but continue to drive onward not taking a second glance behind me.
(Wait for me guys, I'm on my way!)
(Kana's pov)
I lean back into the chair and sigh in relief.
"Good she made it..."
Just then the door swings open and in walks Headmaster Chen with a lot of guards. With shocked expressions to see me I nervously laugh.
"Haha...uh so before you get upset...I can explain..."
(Yuki's pov a few hours later.)
The morning light shines brightly upon me as I step onto the shore. It felt different being on the mainland again and a bit nerve racking. Considering it is winter now it made it easier to hide my face as I cover it with a mask to block out the harsh winter wind and snow.
I shiver as I walk towards the nearest bus station.
(Of all the times to have the worst winter this year it's gotta be now. I swear I have the worst luck these days.)
After making conversation with myself to help keep me motivated I finally reach the station where I take shelter. I take note of the rout and smile as I read the time.
(Good the bus should be here in about 10 minutes.)
