With a slight nod and a bashful blush, he hurried into his home.
"Excuse me," I mumbled as I took a step into the cave, mouth agape in shock.
Upon closer inspection, the golden hue were small crystals glittering and reflecting the soft light of the fire.
Sage sat near it not minding me gawking.
"Why do you talk to me?"
Brought abruptly out of my thinking I answered immediately, "Its because you're so sweet." I smiled so widely unfazed by his wide-eyed look.
"You didn't try to hurt me when we first met if fact you listened to me ramble about. If you were so cruel like they all say you are I wouldn't be here." I sat opposite of him, pulling my legs up and tucking them into my chest, I laid my head on my knees with my eyes gazing into the gentle flicker of the fire flames.
A comfortable silence was sketched between us. Soon the fire started to crackle out and a big yawn escaped, glancing at the position of the moon in the sky I stretched while slowly getting up.
"Goodbye Sag-" I came to an abrupt stop when I looked up and saw him sleeping. With a slight giggle, I whispered my goodbyes and walked out.
Humming softly I walked the same path I always did soaking in the woods smell and the woodland life all about.
"So this is where you've been going."
A cold and empty voice caused me to freeze. I knew this voice, even with turning around I knew it was Sister Martha.
"Sis-sister Martha wh-what are you doing out here?" I was scared but I couldn't show it. I turned around and put a smile on my face as I stared at her, acting innocently.
"How dare you. How dare you talk to the Devil. How dare you go into his home!" Her eyes grew increasingly red as she yelled at the top of her lungs.
Startled I flinched, "What do you know!?" I shouted, getting angry at her.
▪︎SLAP!▪︎
Stunned I lifted my hand to my cheek and felt it tingle. While I was stunned my head was slammed into the tree. I saw stars flutter in my vision than her hands wrapped around my neck.
My legs dangled off the ground, my vision was getting blurry as I clawed at her hands but no matter what I did, they wouldn't let go. They were like a cold steel
"H-help….S-s-s-SAGE!"
