Everything moved in a slow motion. There was a pause before he dimly heard someone cry out. Footsteps thundered on as people ran around in panic, shouting for help. The scene was chaotic and the reporters were clicking away at the turn of events. The flashes from the cameras were blinding him as his brain tried to grasp what was going on. He felt a sticky liquid under his fingers.
One of the officers tackled Nara to the ground. She did not struggle but was completely numb to everything happening around her.
"Someone call the ambulance!" an officer ordered. "Someone's been shot!"
"I'm calling them!" another police officer replied, taking out his phone. "Secure the area!"
His subordinates immediately obliged, pushing back the pedestrians and reporters who had crowded around the precinct. The sirens of the ambulance could be heard as it sped closer.
